Why pray tell me, would they let you go if you enter under the guise of being sick?tmp7704 wrote...
Unless the player considers going there alone under the guise of being sick the actual act of scouting and preparing, as opposed to blind zerg rush inside with the whole group without any preparation...Herr Uhl wrote...
But this is going through less effort in scouting and preparing. It's like Zerg-rushing an enemy, alone.
The hospice part is really stupidly designed

As long as you're willing to spend nearly 150g yes, and even then you'll only get +3 damage rather than +5WillieStyle wrote...
The edge is cheesy but by the time you get to the hospice you can have other weapons that are just as good or even better without getting DLC.
I was skipping some of the side-quest errands during my playthrough (both to save some content for next games and also because i couldn't justify my character would want to bother with these particular errands) and so never really gathered more than 80-odd gold at any point -- spending 5-20 g every now and then on some upgrades for the whole cast contributed to it too.
If someone goes into the game with long-term plan and knowing in advance there's certain stuff they're going to save for then definitely, i can see such purchases happen. For a player who goes through their first game with no knowledge what to expect though, i'd argue it's not as likely
that is just bs. In my first playthrough, with no guide or anything. I had well over a 100g by this point in the game and had spent over 500g. its ****** easy to get that amount of money, especially by this point in the game.

Diabolical. If only Frodo had thought of this strategy and surrendered at the gate of Mordor. Would have saved all that time sneaking around and hiding from orcs.tmp7704 wrote...

Unless, of course, they're evil. Then we're screwed.

Same reason you can convince and/or intimidate people into about anything in this game, short of having the archdemon blow his own brains out to save you the effort? If you enter under guise while not being actually sick then you may expect to be able to get out after you convince the people inside you aren't in fact sick. Or even that they'd kick you out themselves having discovered the same thing -- after all if they're trying to run a covert operation there, it's in their best interest to actually pretend to be nothing but concerned medics. Rather than try to murder you with 3 of your companions just across the thin wall and perfectly able to hear the ruckus inside.Herr Uhl wrote...

Which is actually the other part of the whole setup being pretty stupid, but that;s another story.

Well, i'm pretty curious now. What exactly did you do to get over 600g by l.16 or so?Atreiden wrote...

Call me naive but i can't help but think having the top gear in nearly every slot might've had something to do with the difficulty factor?aphelion002 wrote...
I played a Rogue using the same options and it was pathetically easy. Ever occurred to you that you are just bad at this game?
(which is not to say that's not a valid way to play, but it does make it easier to reduce ability to judge relative difference in difficulty between various content)

Top gear makes things easier.
That´s why it is TOP and not average, you know? If top gear would not make you stronger, it would be crap gear.
BTT: Why not doing it the easy way and kill the guards outside with your group, enter with your group through the front door and kill everyone of those slavetreading douchebags?
I really see no reason to snake around. You just say: "Let me in, I want to see if this is ok." If they let you in, all right, if they don´t, they hide something and you can as well kill them right now.

In all fairness they'd have a valid reason to deny you entry if it was a honest-to-maker hospice -- if they're trying to keep a plague from spreading then letting just about anyone in and out as they please isn't going to help. If nothing else they'd be at least entitled to request you let them cast that spell on you which is supposed to protect from getting the plague, before you're allowed inside.Tirigon wrote...

But it's a huge, complex game, so they didn't have the time to plan for every possibility...

True, but you are not "anyone". You are the most feared, most influential, most powerful person in Ferelden, if not in all of Thedas. And you are here in royal mission. That changes some things.

Stealth rocks. No rule says you need to stand there letting them all beat on you till you're dead.
