It *is* fan art. She is taking comceptions from an established game, and making art off them. So, indeed, they are fan art. That brand on the dwarf,..the pic of Alistair, the Cousland pic. . .all are fan art because they are based off the game. Its nicely done fan art tho

@mrofni: That's a lovely idea.  I'll see what I can do.  I have to make Isolde's and Connor's likeness first.  I'm OC that way 

@Addai67: <3:wub:<3:D  Oh and you really should try out playing a dwarf sometime, it's fun!  Me, it was fairly easy because I'm used to playing dwarves in other games (most of my toons in World of Warcrack are dwarves hehe), but the female dwarves in Dragon Age are just really pretty... far, far prettier than in other games.  Though I have to admit, I was weirded out by the length of the arms (a bit too long imho).

@ReubenLiew & Tevikolady: yep, my thoughts exactly  I don't know why he even brought that up. 


So for my weekly Dragon Age fix, I made a fanmix for one of the DA:O communities mostly because I wanted an excuse to make some cover art   Anyway, this is a version of the cover art I made for a Zevran fanmix.  I was satisfied with the way this turned out.

I actually also remember your 3d work from when you just had I think the original Alistair and Fem Cousland up, so I recognized it right away. Hehe, I also left a comment I think on one of them on my old old dev-art account but I'll leave that one a secret.

In the game Zevran looks very diminutive compared to Alistair but here you actually instill a more masculine appearance of him. Frankly, I always thought that Alistair was more visually attractive than Zevran but what you have here really makes me reconsider Zevran. Very nicely done!

Although, it would only stand to reason that we should have somewhat the same picture of Alistiar to compare him to.Don't get me wrong, the one you have is nice but it doesn't equal the same feeling that Zevran's has.
I mean in that Alistair's picture delivers the feeling like we are admiring him from afar while he is in deep thought.
But Zevran's picture speaks to each viewer as being personal since it has eye contact.

So with that I request on behalf of all the ladies like myself that are drawn to Alistair, we would like a similar picture of Alistair, Something with a soft eye contact.

A full view of his face would be oh so sweet. Alistair, would be less leaner than Zevran and would have more body build than Zev.

How about a laying down on his with a sheet drawn just enough to show his abs but staring with his head dropped down with a confident "come hither" look. It would be worthy of a hardened, more confident Alistair (no pun intended).

Ok, may be some pun intended. But still you get the idea!
I think a LOT of ladies here would appreciate the picture. It would seem more personal to each of us since it has the romantic stare from straight on.

@ mrofni Sorry for the wait   Been stuck doing other things (plus Mass Effect 2 was seriously taking up my free time lol)  Anyway, this is my version of Isolde and Connor.  Well, more like INSPIRED by them - I didn't have time to make their likeness so I just made do with what I currently had.  As for the outfit, just about every noble woman in the DA universe was wearing what Isolde was wearing so I did away with that... besides I wanted their clothes here to be symbolic more than anything else.  I didn't want her to be sobbing uncontrollably either - I wanted to give her some degree of dignity so I made this farewell scene with her son.

 

@ fightright2 Oh I'll definitely make another Alistair image, you can count on it  It's just with my Zev work, him staring straight at the viewer made perfect sense because he was very comfortable in his skin and with his sexuality.  Anyway, once I get my act together and have more free time I'll make another Alistair image -  I'll keep your suggestions in mind.

I really like it. Nice job. The clothes really do fit her. I wish her outfit was like that in the game, would have fit her emotions and attitude much better. And now, Connor reminds me even more of Connor in Terminator. Before it was just the name, now you even made it look like him. In fact, you could even say that Isolde looks similar to Sarah Connor from Terminator 2.



But I digress. Beautiful art lydlyd.

That's an incredibly sad scene, lydyd. Colors are cold like the scene. The way the background's not sharp and how you've cut out the rest of Connor has you focus on Isolde immediately. If I dare suggest, I think it looks very cinematic, like straight out of a movie. Her expression's full of sorrow but she knows it was necessary.

@ mrofni By golly now that you mention it they do resemble the Connors from Terminator  Now that gives me an idea - NO! Ack! Stop thinking brain!  Seriously though, I'm glad you like it :-)  It was a challenge!  Thanks for giving me the idea

@Greifvogel I'm thrilled you've pointed that out  Much of my visual art training is grounded in Photography so I guess it comes as no surprise that the "look" I go for in my 3D renders reflect that.

@ Phoenix Swordsinger Aww thanks! I wish I could make print of these but when I asked Bioware/EA what their stance on prints of fan art was well... let's just say I'd rather stay away from potentially dangerous waters 

Anyway, after playing a lot of Mass Effect 2, I was ready to go back to Dragon Age.  I was starting to miss my favourite Antivan assassin so I decided to make another fan art of him.  I'm aware some of the guys who frequent these forums were uncomfortable with the copious amounts of man flesh in this thread so Zev's wearing clothes in this one yay!  And lookie, Zev's got the patented Dragon Age blood spatters!
