Just topped a Gold game with the Geth Engineer and Eagle IV against Collectors. I only intended to use the Eagle to apply incendiary ammo effects for fire explosions but surprisingly got a 25 pistol kill medal. It's no Harrier but a good way to use up all those pistol amps.

Stop that. It's a secondary source of damage at a VERY light weight. For said weight, it gets really nice damage.

NEVER equip light weapons on a Destroyer. It's a waste of his potential. No wonder you weren't liking results.

Bottom line is, it's the weapon of choice that people pick if they want decent damage at manageable weight. It's not a PPR, or a Harrier, it's the Eagle. You're expecting too much firepower from a sidearm.


As a personal example: I equip it on my Turian Soldier (codenamed "Ashen Eagle". Kinda had to give this weapon to him) and my Drellguard (which Imma replace with a Claymore soon). My Turian primarily rocks a Krysae (Marksman, dude. It's the only way I like this weapon, but it's so fun to use in said combo), but if he needs automatic suppressive fire, he pulls the Eagle out and pops some heads. My Drellguard would use it as a "weapon damage" dealer to back up his Charge>ClusterNades combo. Notice how the Eagle is NEVER my primary source of damage? It's there to keep your head above water on classes that can't afford a lot of weight. It does that job admirably.

Isn't the Hurricane much better for exactly this kind of thing though? If you're using the Eagle as a secondary to a sniper rifle you don't need the Eagle's superior accuracy anyhow - you're only going to be pulling that thing out in close quarters anyhow.

The only good thing about the Eagle is it's weight which steadily becoming pointless with every upgrade I get of it.

I just broke 180k with it on a Turian Soldier. I was playing with a friend who also broke 160k with a Wraith wielding Volus though... yeah the PUGs were REALLY bad...

Well after the fourth buff it is at least playable now and doesn't weigh that much.

But I agree, other promotional weapons are more fun.

I find the N7 Eagle to be a decent sidearm. It does decent damage against armored targets. But if your not intersted in using it I can see your flustration. Just take care in the fact that after a few more upgrades you won't be seeing it in your commendation pack.

You can do the same with all Pistols and SMGs. What they lack in damage they make up for with the sheer ease to headshot. You can easily take down a Marauder in about 8 bullets if you headshot on the Turian Soldier specced for Headshots for passive and Marksman. They are sidearms and weigh less than 1  for a reason, they aren't meant to deal amazing damage. Though they can do just that if you have good aim. A good player can turn them from Sidearm to Primary Weapons.

Not true.  The Predator X has a higher theoretical maximum DPS than the Eagle III.  But you will never do more DPS with the Predator X unless you can pull the trigger almost 500 RPM.  Can you do that?  I can't, and I think most people can't even come close.

EDIT:  In fact, you have to pull the trigger faster than 468 RPM with the Predator X to do more damage than the Eagle I.

500RPM=8.33RPS, I can get 6.9RPS (414RPM), close enough, I'd say. If the target is more than ca. 10-15 meters away I'll get more hits than with the Eagle.

Wow- that's really fast.  Looks like you're on PC, and I guess you mouse-clickers can shoot a little faster.  Can you do it while aiming consistently though?

I'm on XBox, and I'd be surprised if there are more than a few people in the entire world who can pull an XBox trigger that fast, even without aiming.  I can barely max out the Phalanx's fire rate (250 RPM).

Yes, I'm playing on PC. I don't really know how fast you can pull the trigger on console, especially XBox, I might try it on ME2, which I've still got for the XBox. And yes, with a scope mod I'm still able to aim and fire this fast, usually I can even get a good amount of headshots.

Before the buffs, I'd never have thought that I'd rush to the Eagle's defense. Hell, I even chimed in when there was a similar thread a few months back. But nowadays, this gun is far better than its reputation.

Well, I got the 6.9RPS on 15 seonds tests so the 3.5 seconds for the full clip shouldn't be a problem. Also, I'm sometimes using the Predator like this. And as I said, I can still get enough hits.
The 20% RPM I'm missing are still better than not hitting the enemy because of the bad accuracy that the Eagle has.
The Eagle isn't completely terrible, but I don't see any reason to use it, at least on PC.

By the way: This comparison is not suppposed to say something like "even the crappy Predator is better than the Eagle", I like the Predator quite a bit.

Edit: IMO it still needs a small buff for damage and accuracy.

Sure, that was exactly my point. It doesn't prove that the Eagle isn't a pretty bad weapon. And as it is now, I need proof of that before I start to use it again on any character.
