I found a pretty decent article that discusses how the ending of me3 that started a sort of semi-revolution of fanfiction that would not have been possible otherwise.

Its a good read, it primarily deals with the marauder shields comic (which i have not read), and the new fanreleased endings.

I personally like the ideas of fans writing fiction to bring new life to the ashes of the series
