The arc pistol can use either 1 to 3 ammo for 1 to 3 shots at 3x damage depending on the amount of time spent charging.

If you don't have enough ammo for a fully charged shot, you'll only shoot 1-2 shots at 3x damage depending on ammo left.

-----

All tests done on bronze (time scaling will apply to higher difficulties) with a macro that holds down the mouse button with a precision of 1 millisecond.

3 shots at 3x damage
1s+

2 shots at 3x damage
0.68s - 0.99s

1 shot at 3x damage
0.4s - 0.67s

1 shot at 1x damage
0s - 0.39s

Off-topic but
Valkyrie II damage with no bonus whatsoever: 117.377808
(142.8 - 114.2) / 9 + 114.2 = ~117.3778

The stats are accurate according to Cyonan's weapon sheets.

Off topic again, do we have any idea why the collector sniper rifle uses more ammo for less result when you go full auto with it?

It seems that there is no benefit whatsoever to going full auto with it....

Great finds on the arc pistol, so we have a 0.28s window to fire and only consume 1 shot for 3x the benefit, interesting.

One other question: as the arc pistol fires 3 "shots" at max charge, have you any idea if this (because there are 3 projectiles that are fired) allows you to bypass shield gate? I suspect it does.

Or does the 1x ammo shot at 3x damage also allow you to bypass shield gate?

I'm extremely sure that the CSR uses 2 ammo from the 5th shot onwards. (If you have RoF bonuses, you'll potentially fire more shots with 1 ammo). These double ammo shots do the same damage.

The arc pistol bypassing shield gate thing is unlikely since it's only 1 shot. Will do it after I finish my hazard map environmental damage tests.

So instead of just spamming it in "oh crap" situations, I'm probably better off charging it for a short time?

This 3x charged shot modifier - does it affects the weapon damage bonuses from ammo, weapon amps, weapon mods (Heavy Barrel for example) and powers like passives or Adrenaline Rush?

Yes to everything except ammo. Will test ammo afterwards.

You can visibly see 3 projectiles leaving the gun for a full charge which does bypass shield gates, so if you find the single shot at 3x damage is affected by shield gate there is still merrit in charging it fully; maybe not against bosses, but against smaller enemies because otherwise you can't one shot them.

If memory serves Arc Pistol's charge multiplier is applied to base damage .. Should thus apply to ammo damage also ...

Arc Pistol is awesome. Comparable to the Hurricane/Collector SMG IMO. Except it kills your fingers.

Tested and it does not.

3x single shot headshot on silver collector captain
Arc pistol X (CTS V/ magazine V)
passives 20% WD/ 20% HD

Observed
607 barrier damage
202.887573 health damage

Calculated
96.5 * 3 * (1 + 0.2 + 0.2) * 2.5 * (1 + 0.4) = 1,418.55

1418.55 - 607 = 811.55
811.55 / 4 = 202.8875

---

A fully-charged shot (3x, 3 shots) will bypass shieldgate in the same way as shotguns.

607 barrier damage
16575ms | health damage: 202.887573 //shieldgated as calculated above
0ms | health damage: 1418.550171 //as per predicted calculation
15ms | health damage: 1418.550171

I read some guy saying it doesn't bypass shield gate, but it rather works like shotgun's pellets, making it looks like it ignores shield gate.

It fires three shots when fully charged, it can "bypass" shieldgate because only one of these is affected by it. Much like shotguns, yeah.

Edit: I somehow feel that three people consecutively said the exact same thing. Since I'm the last of 'em: -_-

The Arc Pistol actually has three charge states: uncharged, partially charged, and fully charged. It can consume one, two, or three rounds per shot, not either one or three. I think a partial charge still has the x3 multiplier, but as it uses one less round, it does 33% less damage than a fully charged shot.

OP shows the different states.

Script shows that charge time >0.4 gets the ThorDamageMultiplier.

Number of shots regulated by ChargeAmount * MaxProjectileCount, where the latter is set at 3.

What it is doing is just multiplying the amount of time you hold the trigger by 3, and then "rounding down."  That is why the breaks basically line up at 1/3s of 1 second for number of shots fired.

The damage multiplier comes from a different function, which is where the .4s comes from.

That was well said.

Yeah the pistol is actually called Thor, and that is the variable name.
