So new details of Bungie's next game have surfaced and it looks awesome. It's set on a world where humanity is on the brink of extinction and you play the role of a "knight" and get to explore the solar system in what is described as "open exploration." Concept art shows characters dressed in medieval-esque type armor with a few futuristic touches.

In my opinion this game sounds awesome if it's going to be what I think it is. It sounds like a very open world game possibly where there might be some RPG elements. I can imagine multiplayer might even be integrated into the campaign (like how Dark Souls does it but on an even bigger level). Even if there aren't any RPG elements and it's just an open world (or open solar system?) FPS then that would be great. That would mean it wouldn't be another 4 hour shooter campaign where once finished you go to multiplayer.

But it really sounds like it could be similar to Mass Effect 1 in terms of exploration (but with more detailed planets) and it sounds like there's going to be a lot to discover and learn of this new universe Bungie has crafted which has supposedly been in the making for some years. Hints to it were even shown in Halo 3 ODST:

I just really hope it doesn't turn out to be another 4 hour shooter where this "deep universe" is explored in spin-off books instead.

I'm super excited to see more about this. The way their doing multiplayer seems pretty sweet. It sounds like it's going to try and get away from the "360 no-scope MLG 1337" multiplayer, and be more of the "Let's shoot this boss in the face while laughing and drinking a brewski" type of multiplayer.

OH. MY. GOD

Hope this won't be Xbox 360 exclusive like Halo :?

I'm actually talking about PC, but it seems it'll be console exclusive.

Highly intriguing. I really like the "knights" touch. Really gives it a unique feeling.

Hmm sounds kinda like MMOish gameplay in terms of the multi I might or might not get it depending on the age group that will be playing it. Something I'll be watching for sure though.

Im guessing its some kinda Fallout-esque game where it blends fps and rpg elements in a persistent world.

The way Destiny is described, it sounds like its a rather sizable gamespace.

The plot sounds like it could be interesting for a singleplayer, linear type of storyline, but if it's an mmo that potential is probably wasted. The strange mix of medieval and sci fi sounds like it could be interesting, but that concept art is kind of underwhelming.

Is there a PC version? Otherwise, I don't think I can even consider buying it, I don't buy 360 games no more.

I hope there's a PC version, but if not, I use my Xbox for console exclusives. So it being a console exclusive would suck, but it would be no big deal. Of course, I'd wait for good reviews from trusted reviewers first.

Bungie is out from under the thumb of Microsoft now aren't they? Hopefully it won't be exclusive to a console.

RPGs are becoming the new FPSs, everyone is making one.

Medieval and sci-fi...wasn't Riddick like that?

Pretty sure this will be a multi-platform game...Bungie has nothing to lose by offering it to everyone. M$/343 is making Halo now, Bungie is free.

Too bad most of them are fairly poor.  I guess that's also in line with the FPS trend.

Well I hope you do need a constant online connection to play the game but it seems that way.

Everything asides from that seems good though.

"You create and customize your own character in Destiny, choosing from classes such as the Titan, the Warlock, and the Hunter."

And it features open-planetary exploration where you can buy and customize your own ships.

So what is it exactly because I didn't get that. Is it an FPS, RPG or an MMO?

Open-world OFPSARPG (online first person shooting action role playing game?) from what I'm guessing. Turns out you really do need to be connected online to play. There's no off-line and there's even something about costs.

Either-way, the bit about always having to be connected online put me off and the talk of costs put me further off.

So the multiplayer is a sort of minimalist affair modeled more on say, Journey or Dark Souls?
