I suppose it really depends. On one hand, DA2's style limited player choice in the sense that rogues could either dual wield daggers or shoot a bow, and warriors lost the option to do either. On the other hand, DA2's style gave each weapon type and class a unique combat identity+role that was more or less missing from certain builds in DA:O, which, imo, is more important.
I'm not opposed to there being more weapon options for every class, but they should behave differently. If they just copy paste talents and abilities from one class to another (like archery and DW for warriors in DA:O) I would prefer they simply not do it, and stick with DA:2's approach, where rogues and warriors never fight in a similar fashion.
I agree with you, instead of limiting the fighting style a class can use, make each weapon style feel unique to that class. For instance a dual-wielding rogue would use a style emphasizing speed while a dual-wielding warrior would focus more on power and their skills should reflect this. Or take swords, a warrior would combine it with a shield to block attacks while a rogue would only use the one sword and nothing in the other hand while dodging attacks and striking at the right time.

Also, it's "Rogues." No apostrophe needed (because it's plural and not possessive). Just FYI.

Unless the OP is asking a question as to whether or not someone (being referred to as "Rogue") is using swords again.
/grammar **** counter attack!

I sure hope rogues get to use swords again. If my rogue from New Vegas couldn't use his swords, it would just be the worst thing ever.
You should put some points into strength then.

He has 7+1 with cybernetics, and that should go up to 10 after Old World BLues.Herr Uhl wrote...

Granted I have a dislike of restrictions overall in games for weapons and items. I understand perfectly well why restrictions are implemented, but feel it breaks suspension of disbelief a bit. I'd rather use a system where items are more difficult to get and have longer and slower improvement curve but can also be used by anyone who can physically wield it (A massive battleaxe may not necessarily be lifted a small female elf for example unless she was pretty fit)
Now whether they have the skills to use them well is a different matter.
I digress, I would agree it was fun to try to mix-and-match styles.

That would be ideal, but it requires a lot more animations than the current approach does
