I've been a shooter admin since the later days of MOH Spearhead, and found that I do not give much of a flying **** whether or not someone is cheating.  In BC2, those who I found cheating had pretty consistent attitudes, both those who are asses about it and those who are not.  In my experience, Jay does not fit the attitude, and that is a major thing I am going by to be honest.  Does he cheat?

You would be surprised at what people can do, and it is within our nature that if we are more than confident in our ability to do something, we find it *very* hard to believe that there is someone who can do it better

One of the admins I played with, and he was very good at a game, was the first to call "hax", though he was wise enough to stop it after a few games with a player.  His cheat radar was pretty accurate, but damn did it have its share of false alarms. Your skill at these games may be clouding your judgement on the matter, Annomader.

Furthermore, on this game in particular why does it matter?  If someone is cheating for e-peen reasons, why do you need to be pissed off?  Sure, you won't be able to beat his plat solo times, but if you are convinced he is cheating then who do you need to prove yourself to?

You can get the best time you can, and know privately that someone had to cheat to beat you.  When you think about it that way, should be more tolerable.

That said, I have a hard time believing that Jay cheats; even if I am wrong, it matters little.

Now people, Plat solos, back on topic.

You've still got to explain me why an auto-mated anti-cheating system which bans exploiters and aimbotters decided to ban Jay, when he's a "legit" player.

Someone asked why Jay had been removed; I answered. This whole conversation was the product of that query.

Automated systems can be fooled, by the same token they can mess up.
For instance when I had COD:WAW servers banning me permanently for having Steam Overlay enabled because it thought I had some sort of assistant interface enabled or something of the sort
PB seemed to think that Steam Overlay was a wallhack.

Still on Punkbuster, there was a time when PB would autoban players who returned black screenshots, when the black screenshots were caused by PB updating late.

Anticheat systems have false alarms and go nuts every now and then, only a little less frequently than they let cheaters slip past their nets.
I can see Jay's explanation checking out, though I know next to nothing about VAC.

On topic, fair point, I did not read that far back.  If you really believe he cheats I can understand removing him, I don't think it matters whether or not it stays.  Those who believe he cheats will continue to do so, those who don't will still believe he is amazing.  I hardly think he needs the mild ego boost.

Even if this is the case, VAC does not extend to ME3.

Jay may have done some questionable things in L4D2 but where's your proof that it's aimbot and where's your proof that it's done in ME3?

Sounds like it's out of your jurisdiction, mate.

Which is ironic since I don't recall anyone on the BSN being appointed to any sort of "anti-cheat" authority.

Edit: lol this thread has gone into full spam mode.

Ah... I remember those days. I pretty much stopped playing WAW after Punkbuster started counting Steam overlay as a hack.

Was fun while it lasted.

WaW.... MP40 + Juggernoob + Steady Aim =

The MP40 was nerfed in the glorious PC version. It also had free map packs. B)

MP40 on ecksbawcks was a victim of a glitch. It did 55-20 damage and was never fixed. It had innate Stopping Power. The only reason I had the PC version by the way was custom Zombies. F*ck the multiplayer.

I miss story co-op.

Veteran with four people is pretty f***ing hilarious, with the cheating AI killing you in 2 hits and constant grenade spam.

So solos...

I was going to do Phoenix Adept with the Javelin, but it got derailed a couple times by sneaky Phantoms and such, and I got demotivated.
