The two choices in freeing Anora are equally very hard. I opted for Fort Drakon, but I am having trouble getting it done. As for ecaping with the help of my friends, I have tried 5 diffent combinations and can't get past the two hounds and the guard. Those damn hounds! Now I just had a thought?!? Lucky me. I have yet to try using Morrigan's shapeshifter abilities which she has now mastered. Still, I need a tank. Though I wish I could just use both Morrigan and Wynne? Any thoughs on this quest? Thank you..
Well, damn that sure as hell didn't work. How the hell do you get past this damn quest. Does anyone have any answers? It annoys me that the easy game is so damn difficult. How do I get my character out of prison? God knows I can't beat the **** with all of her archers to pelt my team. Come on folks not everyone likes playing a difficult game. Little wonder why there are cheat codes available. Any thoughts would be appreciated, however. Thanks.

You can:
Pretend to be sick
Knock the guard out (requires Strength)
Attack the guard
Use persuasion to seduce the guard (hehe)
Pick the lock on the door
Use high Dexterity to leave the cell and slip past the guard
Use persuasion to convince the guard to remove his armour
Use persuasion to convince the guard that there are darkspawn around
Don't forget to reclaim your equipment from the chest nearby.

I can't even activate the "C:\\Games\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole. It too doesn't friggin work. For $70 damn dollars I want to play this friggin game all the way through. Jesus Christ almighty!

Escaping on your own is fairly simple. Once you are out of your cell their is only one fight you have to win, a guard and a mabari. If you have good stealth, you might even avoid that. After that, you might try disguising yourself as a guard. Perhaps there is some unused guard armor in a storeroom nearby? If you are outnumbered and outgunned sometimes the head on approach with swords swinging isn't the best.
That's a bull **** lie, if I ever heard one. How the hell did you get out past the friggin sergeant?

Use the armour there - its a guard armour and then go see the captain.
He will think you are a new recruit.
Talk to two guards in the far chamber and tell them to get ready for inspection. They will need sword.
You will have to bribe/intimidate the asst qtr master to get them their swords.
Walk out. Your pals will know the password.

This is IN fort drakon. NOT before Fort Drakon. You wake up a prisoner and you have two choices - wait or escape. If you choose to escape, you just have to fight the mabari and the guards.
The fight - 20 vs 3 is Cauthrien - its pretty difficult and surrender is the simpler option - youre not really supposed to win that fight

The rest was easy thanks to her maxed coercion skill. I wonder what happened to the two guards that supposedly go on patrol with you.

I'd suggest two things:
1) Switch to the Easy/Casual gameplay mode (assuming you're not already on it).
2) Find a walkthrough.
If you're having trouble with this part of the game, I can only assume it's related to how you've leveled up your characters.

Pretend to be sick, kill the guard, get your armour out of the chest and KILL! Don't forget your armour, you look silly taking on the wardogs in your gaunch.

So damn true....It's getting to the point that I can't come to the forums anymore because I get so tired of somebody blaming the game for their inability to adapt. Seems to me if thousands of other people have done it, it can be done.
But seriously Jallard, stop blaming the game, the problem is your playing style. This isn't your first thread tripping about how hard and stupid and ridiculous and impossible the game is. Just freeking relax, use a little patience, take a break, step outside, get some sun....Getting this worked up over a game is silly.

That I've personally experienced, there are several methods by which you can escape, and they branch off from whether you choose to wait to be rescued, or if you try to escape on your own. I personally like escaping on my own -- where I can either fight my way out, or use sneaky methods to "talk" my way out.
I'd suggest two things:
1) Switch to the Easy/Casual gameplay mode (assuming you're not already on it).
2) Find a walkthrough.

I sense frustration.... it all depends on how you set up your characters. My PC was thrown into the cell with Allister. Both pretty good fighters.

I have tried that already but apparenly my persuasion skill is too low. I read somewhere in the beginning to build up my strength and dexteriety and make sure you build up Morrigan's magic and that is what I have done. (In this particular game she doesn't even have the cone of cold.)
I haven't mastered coercion either. Then again, I had no idea that I would end up in a prison and need those skills to escape. I mean, you only get a minusule of points everytime you level up. What can you do with four or five points with several attributes?
It is almost as if now I have to restart once again from scratch and rebuild my characters accordingly. That thought doesn't please me in the slightest. Thanks for the tip, however.

JFC GET OVER THE CHEAT CODES ALREADY!
Even my inept husband beat the game with relative ease.
I take a rogue and mage through to rescue my buddies. and they get by with no problems.
TERRAIN TERRAIN TERRAIN!! open a door, run back 3 roms, pick off teh stragglers that follow you. run back, draw a few more, pick them over, wash rinse repeat. It sounds like your someone used to playing an FPS. Run in a run, guns blazing, shoot em all down, and smoke a cigar.
This isn't a hack and slash, the game requires thoughts, not cheat codes. And I'm sure your having troubles finding cheats because, well, we all beat the game (I beat the 3x on normal, 1x on nightmare) without them. Get over yourself and trying thinking about the game, not just mindlessly mashing buttons

You are correct, there were two dogs, my last two playthrough's I let my party rescue me for the funny dialog options so I had forgotten. If you have high strength and dexterity you should use your stunning skills on the dogs. Pommel strike for a 2-hander; shield bash, shield pommel and overpower if you are sword and shield; Riposte is good if you are a dual-wield warrior. You will need health potions. If you have no health potions, I suggest you surrender to Ser Cauthrien instead of trying to fight her. If all else fails, take Alistair with you through the Arl of Denerim's estate. That will give you two against 3 when you get out of the cell. If you have high strength you should be able to reach through the bars to break the guards neck. You don't need to restart your character, but if you go back in time a little, buy some skill books from a vendor like the Wonders of Thedas in the Denerim Marketplace. Put that skill either into persuasion or maybe 1 point in poison. All those poisons and bombs you pick up through the game can give you a little extra edge in a fight and you only need 1 point in the skill tree to be able to use any poison. There are multiple ways to get through Fort Drakon and it all depends on which skills your character has.Jallard wrote...
