I for one am eagerly awaiting the next-gen consoles.

There are certain games that I prefer to play on them, for various reasons. And improved console hardware can only benefit PCs if it means large concessions no longer have to be made for their limitations.

PS3 will probably be supported until 2015, Sony explained a few months ago. So I guess PC and XBOX360 will have the game too. I know this makes no sense, but next-gen won't be here until 2015, if I'm actually right this one.

While it would be nice to have DAIII not held back by the limitations of the current generation consoles, as others have stated, EA likes money, so in order to have the best chance to recoup the costs of development, DAIII will probably be released on both current and next gen console hardware, with PC still being the superior platform(high res textures etc) unless they continue down the path of interface choices being streamlined for console controllers.

This topic is fast becoming the BSN's DA III forum "Flavour of the Week"...

I see no new threads about save imports, bisexuality, or female dwarves, but I've seen at least four different threads on pretty much this "next gen DA III" issue.

Rejoice in the inevitability that Inquisition's sequel, DA IV will without a doubt only be available for high-end PCs and the next gen consoles. No more being held back by the PS3 or 360.

But then the PC version of that will just be held back by nextbox and ps4.  The cycle is endless.

It does make a difference for us though, if it's developed for next gen consoles it'll be a lot closer to a PC level of technology, for better or worse (I kind of like not having to have an absolutely bleeding edge gaming rig to play all the latest games.)

If it is next gen, here's hoping the console price tag won't be too painful. It's times like this, though, that I'm glad to be an adult gamer with some means.

It really is too soon to be freaking out about this, however. Wait until actual news.

Yeah, the first 360s were pretty crappy sometimes. I heard some really bad horror stories from friends who bought the first wave. Glad I waited a few years and got the most out of my PS2.

Hmm. Well, don't know if this matters to you any, but although PCs are expensive to buy to start with, they
-> are easier (and cheaper) to upgrade
---> ...which can be done in steps as time passes and individual components become obsolete rather than one large lump sum
-> aiming is more intuitive (like 'clicking' on things rather than cranegame)
-> allows for mods and save-game editing
-> computers also have use outside gaming (watch DVDs, browse net, college assignments)
-> you do NOT need a high-powered PC and expensive graphics card to play games! A mid-range one will do just fine, even if you can't put settings up to Ultra. (Though stay from low-range for obvious reasons.)
-> none of that red-ring o' death stuff
-> allows for gamepad if preferred, but also
-> using keyboard/mouse allows for a lot more buttons and shortcuts (making ME3's spacebar button especially disappointing...)

Downsides:
-> requires a hefty first investment (assuming you are not comfortable building your own)
-> installation - can't just pop the disc in and play (and then patches patches patches)
-> if switching from console, save games cannot be imported
---> offset by save-game websites and/or generators, which are not available for console
-> more vulnerable to obscure errors or driver installation issues
-> harder to send for repairs in event of failure
---> offset by easier to fix yourself, especially given proper instructions

THE CHOICE IS IN YOUR HANDS. I used to play on the Playstation series and ended up switching to computer out of necessity (had a high-powered computer for study, and everything had moved to gen PS3, which I couldn't afford). Though it felt weird at first, and many games are unfortunately console exclusive, I find gameplay more intuitive and support easier to find and place.

If it does come out on the 720, I'm admittedly bummed out about that. It's cool from a "these graphics will be awesome" perspective, but from a financial perspective, it sucks for me. We just won't have a lot of cash to burn through over the next few years due to the economy and our mortgage and tons of other things. I guess it bums me out that I'll have to wait quite awhile to play the third chapter of a game I've been so heavily invested in.

They better make the game incredible if it comes out on the 720. That's all I'm saying.

:::grumbles::: Buy a new g.d. console just to play a game... ugh.

Is it really so hard to save up like $700-$900 before 2014?
