I made the switch from PC to PS3 ... then from PS3 back to PC :P Not switching again, I LOVE PC gaming.  I really do hope that DA3 doesnt hit next gen, I think it would be a good send off for the current gen, that and my kids are all xbox junkies lol and Daddy dont want to have to buy three of whatever the next gen xboxs are and three copies five copies of the game all in one go  (Ummm math explanation, 3 Xbox 360s, 2 PC gamers, all of us RPG nuts :wizard:).  So honestly, my reasons are mostly selfish lol

I'll buy a PC in that case (a thing that I was already considering to do, since I played on consoles only recently), because I'm not going to buy a console on release. And it's not only a matter of price. Both 360 and PS3 had problems at launch, I'm not going to expect things will be different this time.

Is it really so hard to save up like $700-$900 before 2014?

On a low income with a small child to clothe and feed, yes it can be. I have bills to pay too. Not all of us have great jobs, are single, without dependents, or living at home with mommy and daddy (not saying you are). I find it hard to justify a purchase of that magnitude. If it comes down to it I will wait a couple of years before buying a console just to play DA3 should it come to that. My PC is not fantastically suited for the requirements of the newest games either before you decide to go there.

I'm hoping it won't be next gen exclusively on the console side, but if it is, that's life and I'll live with it until I can afford a 720. <_<

Makes no sense what so ever . Don't put the game in a establish platform with millions of users . no lets put it on the new console that will certainly not have that amount of people at that point in time. And of course the PC elitist are just loving that . <_<

I've heard the same, but we already know the Frostbite 2 engine runs well on Xbox 360, so I doubt they will move it to the newer consoles. Even if they do, I trust it will make the experience better on the whole, more processing power means bigger worlds, more quests, and the possibility of many more outcomes for your choices.

There has been no official news that I've seen that said this, only rumors. Also, if it comes out in 2014 and is meant to be a next gen game then that is even better. Please link your sources, by the way.

It was on kutaku and IGN. Still a romur from a head of EA studio from Shenghai that supposedly working on DA3, that hasn't been confirmed yet by EA&BW. But it is a very likely rumor... seem like most most gaming companies will just be going into hibernation until next gen, making 2013 one of the worst years for gamers.

Luckily, PC doesn't have that issue... No need to buy a new console every 5-7 years, when you can just replace all your hardware every two years... I just hope DA3 will have controller support for PC, I can't think of a single developer other than bioware that refuses to do that, it's even a standard among the more serious indie developers...

Yup, I'm sure the Xbox 720 will be a bust. Nobody will buy it.../ sarcasm.
Even though in the history of PS&xbox the new console always outsold it's predecessor. Hell, even I'm considering buying xbxox 720, and I've been a pc gamer for more than two decades.

thank god. This current gen is so absurdly old. Don't get me wrong, I love my xbox, but it is just pitiful compared to any modern gaming PCs. The xbox 360 is running a 7 year old GPU. Moving into the next hardware gen is long overdue.

I know what's it like to be tight on cash. That's probably the main reason I never bought a console; couldn't justify spending that much for a dedicated gaming platform... But depending how old your PC is, upgarding it will probably cost a fraction of the price of a new console. Nvidia just went out with line of graphics card aimed to be more "economical" (i.e. cheaper).

People go through this every console cycle.

You'll get some folks who simply can't afford to upgrade.

You'll get some folks who, being early adopters, will be desperate to acquire any good software for their new hardware.

What matters, ultimately, is if the game is good and if it takes advantage of the opportunities presented to it by the new hardware. Because if it's good and shows off what the console can do, it will still be good and pretty when the people in the first group can afford to join the party.

That's assuming the next gen rumor is true, of course.

Oh, don't worry. I'm sure Sony&MS will find ways to scre us over. I've allready heard rumors that MS is paying nvidia to withold releasing graphics cards for PC that are more advanced than the xbox 720; which will explain their new "economic" line, that some would construed as "same old crap, with shiny package and cheaper price tag". So do you usually not understand  posts . never said that the next gen console would be a flop .But there's no way they will gather  the sells  360/PS3 had building for years  v.s just its launch . And also even YOU want 720   this is sign !!!   Solmanian wants  720  *confirmed success* of course ... :wizard:

Impossible? No. Hard? Yes. For us, anyway. Between the house, two cars, medical insurance, medical bills, regular bills/utilities/groceries, GAS (had to capitalize that one because I think fueling cars is one of the worst monthly expenses, even with our small/efficient cars we own), and so forth... yeah... 700-900 is a lot of bones to set aside. And honestly? I refuse to pay that much when it's a known fact that console prices go down after a few years on the market. Seems like a waste. We can just wait it out. We waited it out with the 360 and ended up getting one for 200 dollars (250GB and all). It was a good deal, and this console has been great to us. No crashes or Red Rings of Death since it was a later issue.

(Plus we have zero interest in MMO's so there's no issue with Microsoft's stupid requirement to pay for online access.)

Well there's no gun to actually jump. It's either theoretically coming out on 360 or theoretically coming out on the 720. And thus, following the latter theory - people who can't afford a 720 are theoretically pissed off.
