However, the 2H NPC like the Urn Guardian and Ser Cauthrien that I have encountered all wear Heavy Armor. This sets me thinking, is Heavy Armor better for a 2Hander? I think Evon the Great's Mail with the Wade Superior Heavy Dragon Scale Gloves and Boots can make a set and the fatigue will be much less than the Wade Superior Dragonbone Plate Armor set with maybe 1 or 2 points in Armor Rating difference. Any thoughts?

I am currently 4th playthrough soloing on nightmare with my 2H warrior. For all my playthrough with the Warrior and Arcane Warrior class, I let my PC wear Massive Armor. My 2H Warrior is currently wearing Massive Armor.

I prefer using Wade's Superior Heavy set on my 2h warriors. Less fatigue, more stam, more talents, more damage, which at the end of the day is what a 2h warrior should be doing any way. Unless you're tanking, why bother with the massive armor?
p.s. I think Wade's heavy armor looks better than the massive any way. Those knee and elbow sections look awful on the massive plate, and if your character is female she loses all form in massive armor as well.

I went wade's heavy armor for my 2h as well and it worked fine. Throw in the Chasind Great Maul and you will have loads of Stamina so it's really up to you.

Yep. What they said. And you don't want to draw aggro away from your tank.

Also, shieldless characters are very vulnerable to arrows if they don't have heavy armour or certain defensive spells.

Cool! Just bought the Chasind Great Maul, super weapon for a 2Hander. Will save up for the Evon the Great's Mail. I am soloing, so aggro factor in much less for me, but the arrows will really kill you. One of the toughest fight because I decided to loot Degan (hope i spelled it right!) the wounded Dalish Elf, was the ambush near the Breceillan Forest by this Dalish Elf Rouge woman with dual mace and her entourage of archers. Super tough, no where to run or hide from the arrows!

Quick OT question: Why solo? Do you get more experience and level faster? Just for the challenge?

I have been running Medium Armor on my 2 Hand character and I have been very impressed. It gives you so much more stamina. Wades Drakonscale (Medium) gives -22% fatigue! Nothing like spamming special talents all through the fight.

Yeah, soloing more for the challenge. I had beat the game twice with a group, I needed more difficulty. Soloing definitely racks up the challenge scale a lot. And playing as a slow 2H Warrior is even tougher!

My solo NM Dwarf templar/champion wears Knight's Commander Armor for the +40% resists. That armor requires the templar speciality.
Spell casters are your main pain as a solo warrior so gear up for high resists.

My first Sarevok was wearing Massive BloodDragon Armor.
For my second Sarevok i used all the time Light armor for Origin and Ishal.
I think i will stay with this and later take on Wades Medium armor.
When i discovered how useful the Sunder talents are, it was too late for Sarevok no.1<_<
But now i am only pumping STR and use more talents actively(no Reaver Berserker bullsh*t this time, its crappy)
and with lighter armor you wont get initial aggro, which lets you maneuver easily in the flank and attack more, while healer concentrates now completely on the tank.
(im also talking for Nightmare ofc)

I read on the forum somewhere that people have soloed with a Rogue Archer build! So I think it is possible. Will be lots of fun, I think but tough. But may definitely need the Ranger specialization to get your Pet as a melee distraction while you snipe away. May try that for my next playthrough after I am done with the 2H Warrior.
