What was your Shepard's thought process at that moment.

My Shepard basically thought through four possible outcomes.

A) The Catalyst is lying in a last ditch effort to keep you from using the Crucible
B) The Catalyst is trying to trick you into using the crucibe to bring about a Reaper victory
C) The Catalyst is engaging in Fallacy, stating true facts in a calculated way to lead your mind to a certain outcome
D) The Catalyst is telling to complete truth (unlikely yes, but still a possibility)

So basically my Shepard said if the Crucible was used.

A) The chances to win are very good
B) Losing and the cycle continuing is a certainty
C) Anything could happen
D) The chances to win are very good

If my Shepard doesn't use the Crucible

A) Losing and the cycle continuing is a certainty
B) Losing and the cycle continuing is a certainty
C) Losing and the cycle continuing is a certainty
D) Losing and the cycle continuing is a certainty

So basically I couldn't care less whether the Catalyst was telling the truth or not.

The only other thing that my Shepard took into account was why did the Catalyst save my life.  But I think that could be an entirely different thread.

Essentially, yeah. Not using the Crucible makes no sense as strategy.

The objections are emotional rather than strategic.
