Yes I will pre-order ME4, because, unlike most people on BSN, I didn't let 15 minutes of poor story-telling ruin 100 hours of pure awesomeness Bioware put into this trilogy.

And that didn't worry you about the direction and thought that they're putting into things so that you'll at least let yourself get a good impression of what the game will be like before buying it? There had better be some damned impressive perks for preordering to make me do more than laught at the idea. Even then I probably won''t preorder.

No one should buy this game!!

Or any other EA games!

Unless people want to support EA / Bioware's lying, history of unfinished games, day 1 DLC of story critical plot and charcters and their ravaging of popular game studios then please buy their disgracefull products.

If you MUST play one of their products then please rent or borrow it.

EA needs to go bankrupt for the good of all gamers.

The only problem with buying no EA games is that some EA games are good like Dead Space 1 and 2 and 3 coming next year.Image IPB

Those 15 minutes were the worst part of the game, but not the only bad parts. Let's see:

* The child: he's a dead child! Feel sad! Please please please feel sad! Shepard is traumatized! Don't you see it? Shepard is having nightmares! You should be traumatized as well, you monster!

* The whole beginning: Where's the trial? Where's... where's everything a story needs at its beginning? Who is James again? What is he doing here? Why is Kaidan/Ashley even here? What's going on? What is wrong with Anderson's legs? "We fight or we die"? I thought I was playing Mass Effect, not Michael Bay Effect. Wait.... why is that Reaper attacking two civilian shuttles instead of that huge Normandy over there? Ah...yes, that kid must die...riiight...

* Mars: after decades of investigation, now (NOW) they discover a superweapon of mass destruction. Oh, and Liara is there! And Cerberus for whatever reason is there too of course, it's a subtle way to introduce your main enemies... well, not that subtle.

* Huerta Memorial Hospital: wait... why is Shepard so sad about Kaidan/Ashley? Why is the game forcing me to romance them? Is that the romance theme what I'm listening here? Be subtle Bioware, be subtle.

* Animations: What's wrong with Anderson's legs? Why is Shepard running like Vanille from Final Fantasy XIII? Why is James and Garrus walking faster instead of just running? Why I can't even holster my weapon? But... but I could do it back in ME and ME2!! Besides, what's wrong with Liara's neck?

* Dialogue: Where's the neutral option? Is that me or there are less than 10 dialogue options in the whole game where my reputation matters? Why is Shepard even talking if I didn't choose any dialogue option?

* Death by Twitter: You DON'T DO THAT! Bioware killed Emily Wong on Twitter! What's worst, she's been replaced  by Jessica Chobot in a tight dress. They even killed Kal'Reegar via email! Very subtle.

* Cerberus: EDI told me Cerberus have about 12 cells and 150 agents more or less. That's NOT what I saw in ME3, not at all. They can recruit and that, I get it, Bioware needed a main enemy but c'mon...

* Kai Leng: What is it? A bird? A plane? A Superman? NO! It's a huge titanium plot armor!

ME3 was going to be a good game with good writing. Instead, we got an awful writing full of Deus Ex Machina, an ending from Deus Ex (oh the irony), bugs, glitches, autodialogue, plot-holes of the size of the whole galaxy and so on... and why? Because Bioware no longer cares about writing; they want to attract those 12-18 years old gamers who just want to play a point and shoot game (a shooter) where the plot doesn't matter at all. Bioware games went from a game where story is more important than gameplay like KotOR, to DA2 or ME3, where gameplay is by far more important than story. I honestly believe Bioware need good writers and good lead writers and, of course, their opinions must be taken into account which I think is not what happened with both DA2 and ME3.

Not preordering, not purchasing. Though I have to say, I rather like the approach the following poster suggested:

Yes.

Just so when something bad comes up, I can say "Pre-order canceled" and actually mean it.

Dead Space 3 looks god awful.

"Oh you wanted a horror game?  Here, we shall give you a co-op player to play with!  Cuz you can't sell single player games anymore!  And games where you aren't alone are totally scary!  Also- are you sure you actually said 'horror'?  Cuz we heard action adventure game.  So We are gonna make an action adventure game.  That looks like Lost Planet.  Yay."

But if EA goes bankrupt, so will BW. Yeah, maybe someone will buyout BW studio, what if it's Activision though? The truth is that there will be even more consolidation in the industry next generation and even more focus on money from publishers. What we can do is potest industry-wide trends. Boycotting 'just' EA doesn't change anything when all other publishers are doing Day 1 DLC, rushing out games etc.

I agree with most of the points in your post, but ME3 DOES have good writing - in spots.  I think the sad truth is EA enforced a deadline BW couldn't meet and they hadn't planned far enough ahead to compensate.  The pieces that were done were used and the rest thrown together to try and fill the (huge) gaps.

And by boycotting, am I not protesting? Do you have a different suggestion on how I can fight the direction EA and Activision are heading? I understand what you're saying, but unless you have a better idea, I'm sticking with this one.  And honestly, I'm hoping EA goes bankrupt, sells BW off, and either Bethesda or Microsoft snaps it up. (Yes, I did say Microsoft, I'm VERY impressed by what they did with their 343!)

That's a big no.

I pre-ordered the N7 Edition of ME3 and was pretty damn disappointed, so I think I'll wait and see with ME4.

Wow, are some of these comments pathetically childish.

Waiting several weeks to purchase a game now means "LOLZ WAL-MART BARGIN BIN ROFLROFL." I am continually amazed how few people grasp the complete idiocy of accusing developers of pandering to children and then acting like this. It's just sad.

It's something I would expect from a 12 year old on Myspace for the first time. Poorly feigning indifference in a transparant and obvious attempt at an insult.

Tentatively, yes - depending on what it is. If it looks like a game I'll like, I'll pre-order most likely.

Depends. I love ME3, even if I flat out despise StarBrat and acknowledge that the game has its flaws, but if ME4 turns out to be more of a FPS-game than ME3, then I won't be interested. As much as I know it won't happen, I'd love for ME4 to be more similar to ME1, with the exception of the combat mechanics, which are much better in ME3.

Skyrim, Far Cry 3, Halo 4, Batman AC

justice a a few examples of games that were not rushed and delivered on what was promised. All one is to do is do a little research and stop buying games bound to crappy 2 years dev cycles

Not a chance. But still might buy it if I find it interesting.
