For anyone who is having the "memory leak" problem - quests taking forever to update, mobs not registering as dead, party members "forgetting" what they're supposed to be doing - try this.

1. Turn off the PS3 - not "putting it to sleep", but actually power down by switching off the power in the back. PS3 Slim users simply press the power button.

2. Turn your PS3 back on.

3. Once you're at the XMB, immediately disconnect from the internet - disable WiFi if you're on it, unplug your cable if you're wired.

4. Start the game as normal.

This seems to alleviate SOME of the frame-rate issue also for the first 20-30 minutes of gameplay, but after a few loading screens it comes back. However, playing while disconnected totally from the internet seems to make the game run a lot smoother in terms of how it registers enemy deaths and quest updates. A friend told me he discovered this by accident when he took his PS3 to a friends house with no internet connection and the game started running like a dream.

If you try this method please post here and let me know if it works or not so we as a community can start figuring these problems out. The more information we have for the developers, and the more of us that show we care about getting these problems fixed, the more likely they are to make the time and allocate the funds to getting them fixed.

they should have a patch that adds a button to log off bioware servers.

and only log on when you want to.

even if your logged off the game still comunicates with the servers. i has to in order for you to use the DLCs otherwise the game can not validate them (programs running in the background that are not used by the player). unplugging the system is the only way for the system NOT to communicated with the servers.

I acctually can ONLY play the DLC while not logged in. As soon as I log in I get an unauthorized message. Maybe because the DLC is registered to this profile while EA-download manager created a generic profile to register the game with the bioware servers.

tried it with network switched off.

i don't see any difference, the framerate is generally very low.

Did the topic creator experience drastic slowdown in framerate randomly?

I did. The areas where I experienced the worst slowdown were the final battle, the werewolf area, and most of the "optional" chantry board quests where there were a lot of friendly and unfriendly NPCs fighting, but I experienced slowdown in a lot of areas.

Mind you this is not a full on fix - it more alleviates the problem of mobs not registering as dead and quests not updating right when you kill the quest mob. The framerate issue persists no matter what.

To be completely honest the only time I saw the game running as it should is

*******SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS************

Near the end of the game in the Arl of Redcliffe's estate when you're running around by yourself. Seems like since the game doesn't have to process very much, it can run smoothly. What this suggests is that the game was improperly optimized for the PS3's Cell processor, from what I understand. Granted, I only know what I've read, but if that's true it means there's nothing we as gamers can do, we either have to wait for a patch or suffer through the shoddy framerates.

Wouldn't that mean it updates certain things on your profile on the fly instead of all in one?
