It's doubtful, but I think it would be a pretty neat thing to see. I mean, I personally have lost hope in ever playing as a non-human protagonist ever again in a Dragon Age game, but I see a silver lining in this. Maybe that way we'll have more diversity amongst our companions? Maybe an awesome sentient Darkspawn? Maybe a Tal-Vashoth? Maybe, finally, a romanceable dwarf? Maybe a little orphan boy who watches his parents get murdered, and decides to take up the mantle of the Bat to strike fear in the hearts of criminals? We have limitless options here, people!

The only dorf I want to romance is Varric.

Why, Varric, why must you be unattainable :( All my hopes and dreams dashed. At least my male Hawke got a funny flirt sarcastic line.

Well, I think he did anyway. I could be wrong after all the mishmash of playing it three times in the last couple weeks.

Varric is the proverbial hunk of man-meat. I'm as straight as an arrow, but when Varric is involved all I want to be IS an arrow.

Indeed. I look forward to taking the darkspawn companion along and inadverdently spreading its corruption(or whatever its called.)

The voiceless abominations, tainted and born from the worst depravities and predisposed downfalls of human nature?
I think we may be a while from diplomacy yet.

It could be interesting obtaining an intelligent darkspawn as a companion, would be neat to see what gains rivalry/friendship (assuming we are sticking with this system) with it. My only concern would be the companion never getting mentioned by random NPC's (I mean it -is- a darkspawn and people should be freaked out by the abomination running around, or at least that's how I understand it I could be wrong).

Honestly, I'm on the fence on the romanceable dwarf, although as long as it is like varric, or is varric, I'll be happy, so I can live with the option being added.

I would rather a have an half-demon. Something like Neeshka in Neverwinter Nights 2

No. Would require to much writing-lol to explain how he can travel inside cities and all that.

To be fair, we had a golem and a quanari in DA:O.  It's not the same degree, but that's certainly out of the oridinary.

There was a speaking darkspawn messenger that went travelling through Thedas at the end of Awakening (the messenger sent by the Architect). The only downside is that your party would fall ill from the taint/corruption (apart from any Grey Wardens).

I like the idea but I'm not sure how it would work.

Re romancing a dwarf, fine as long as it's Varric!

If he uses the model of the awakened Darkspawn from DAA? Yes.

If he uses the Darkspawn model from DA2? lolno!

I must mention what happened to those dwarves who eat Darkspawn flesh. The darkspawn are evil by their nature ... I want to go one step further and call Darkspawns INDOCTRINATED! *raises flameshield*

Maybe If the speaking darkspawn was only a temporary companion, like Tallis? Less chance of catching the taint then, right?

In Mass Effect 2 they gave us Legion,a geth, as a companian. In Mass Effect 3 Javik, a prothean. Why dont the program a darkspawn mage companion in the third game if you helped the Architect in the Awakening expansion?!

A darkspawn companion would be too good to include in the game. It would end up being day 1 dlc.

A perk with the Golem and Qunari is that they don't carry a plague.

They'd have to work even harder to handwave why your party isn't turned into ghouls.

It would probably have to be a Zevran situation where you have the chance to execute him at first meeting.

Pass for me... and in ME3 Protheans and Geth were not the enemy the Reapers were.
