I'm not surprised. The real talent is starting to come from the indie market. The coporations are only interrested in a "sure thing", who gives a flying fück about MoH or Fifa 2087?!?

The indie market isn't entirely without problems. A lot of them are just based on gimmicks or are simple platform games in some highly stylized levels. That's fine, but maybe that's not the kind of game I want to play.

It's really the same thing whether the game was made by a large corporation or a small indie team. I don't want to play the majority of them.

One thing you won't get so much in the indie market of course is the DLC madness and micropayments all over the place.

Witcher 2 was released in 2011. The Xbox port doesn't count. Speaking of, I managed to snag it for 10 bucks off Gamestop during Black Friday weekend. One of the best game deals I've ever had. 

Anyway, I'm surprised so many are choosing Walking Dead. While the story is certainly excellent, from a gameplay perspective it's just a point-and-click adventure with occassional Quicktime Events. In my opinion, a game needs to excel at both story and gameplay to be eligible for GotY.

I dont want to pick a game of year 2012, because best games were merealy semi-good. Only games I am waiting for are Dead Space 3 and new Amnesia.

Year 2012 and I have played total 5 different games (no mobile games included):
2x CoD, mw3 and bo2
WoT (WoWP too)
ME-trilogy
Black Snow

I've only played two games released this year: Kingdoms of Amalur and Dragon's Dogma. KoA was good, but nothing extraordinary. DD is among my top-5 biggest gaming disappointments ever (which is a shame as I really would have wanted to like that game).

Looks like KoA has to be my nominee.

And yea this has been a pretty awful year for video games. The yearly releases suck and will always suck. (Didn't even know Modern Warfare 3 or black ops 2 came out) the best Bioware related product this year is Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition, which is hilarious considering they produced the biggest trainwreck in gaming (TORtanic) and then the second biggest (ME3) both in one year.

Completely different in every imaginable way, but yes, overall a better game then RE6.

Nonsense! We had XCOM, Borderlands 2, Assassin's Creed 3, Farcry 3, Kingdoms Of Amalur, Journey, ME3(Depending on your attitude), and Darksiders 2.

Plenty of great games.

Besides, out of those four, one is a flawless masterpeice, one is a good sequel but nothing spectacular, one was highly anticipated and a hit with the critics but is easily the weakest of the franchise, and the last one is absolute dreck and a perversion of what made that series great.

Match those descriptions however you want, just for giggles.

I wish I could say Guild Wars 2. It may be the most fun I've had in an MMO but there were so many issues, especially with the combat, that I don't think it's worthy of GOTY.

Guess my vote goes to The Walking Dead.
