Tanking with an arcane warrior is a bit tricky. You'll probably want to invest in all the spells that generate greater amount of threat. Like Ferretinabun mentioned, starting each encounter with fireball works great for initial threat table addition. Then you'll probably cast as many spells as possible in short range in as short a duration as possible. For this purpose, you'll probably want to prioritize spells than be cast with your weapon drawn.
A few spells that generates large threat are petrify, the walking bombs, crushing prison, paralyze, hexes, death cloud, blood wound. Miasma is great as a sustainable, for a bit threat and helps to counter the AW's comparatively poor attack rating. The trick is to generate as much damage base threat as possible if the opportunity shows up, for instance, taking out as many mages and/or shades with a single mana clash, and then throw a few high threat spells quickly. You may consult the wiki on Arcane Warrior Spellcasting to see which spells require your weapon sheathed and which don't, & also the threat generated by each spell.

Hmmmm seems like I would have to be managing my arcane tank every minute of the fight so he can keep the threat. Have any of you all tank as a arcane warrior? Is it easy?

Will probably need to do a bit more pausing in harder difficulties.
As for myself, I automated Wynne to tank for me when I was rolling a ranged DPS squad with my warden, leliana and shale. So, I didn't really actively control her most of the time. I guess if you don't like to pause and assess the battlefield and change targets frequenly, it'd be somewhat tedious.

I'm probably the worst player on this forum,
and i solo the game on nightmare with AW.
Having a good dagger in the off hand is much more damaging than a shield,
but make sure to have close to 30 dexterity & flaming weapons.
Dont let your comrades dying distract you, they will resurrect when you won,
hopefully with a little "thanks"

I believe Wynne has some spell that remove injuries,
but even if she dont, you can just send them to camp to get autoheal.
In fact it dont matter how much injuries they get, you will win anyway.
I took it one step further and leave them at camp altogether,
i only bring Alistair to redcliffe for story, and send him back before fight

@Dblade - Yes, 'blood mage' as her 2nd spec.

If you're tanking for a party as AW you basically need to nuke spam to generate enough threat. Which is OK, but you could be throwing out the same blood wounds, fireballs, VWBs, cones of colds etc and just rely on CC with no tank at all.

So blood mage as my second spec. would help with tanking? What about the downloadable talents that you can get at wardens keep? Would those talents help as well?

Mages get a weakish nuke and a spell that gives you mana at the cost of some health. Neither are particularly great, and neither would help you tank.
You don't need blood mage to tank, but it does give you one of the best ways of gaining threat. Casting blood wound on something and being close to it should result in it almost always wanting to attack you.

Then there is also the fact that you dont actually have to generate any threat at all.
Put your weaklings on ranged attack if you will,
they are of little importance when you got a powerhouse such as the AW tank,
the only spell beside sustainables that does make a difference is mana clash,
which you fire off at start of a battle.
The warden commander boots and the blood armor is rather important armor for you,
they have lots of mana pool so you dont have to spend any points on mana/stamina

Without a doubt. Blood wound being an AoE DoT without any friendly fire is one of the best way to get the enemy's attention. Think of it as a group Crushing Prison, with a low cooldown of only 20 seconds. An Affliction and/or Vulnerable hex thrown among them would increase your DoT even further.
Out of the Warden's Keep talents, Dark Sustenance is useful for regenerating a significant amount of mana during the earlier levels when the warden's health pool is comparatively lower. But at higher levels, with blood magic augmenting gear and more constitution, this becomes less useful and I think it is better to cast off your HP. The other talent Bloody Grasp is so-so, as there are other options in your arsenal.

I will have to write this down but for sure I need to get those downloadable talents then?

You get those talents for free, so why not?

You just have to drink the vial correct? It has been awhile since I have played through warden's keep

I think it depends on the difficulty level. I find it easier to stay alive as a warrior on higher difficulty than a rogue. But I hate playing as a warrior because you can't pick locks, open chests, where treasure can be found. You become too reliant on Leliana because Zevran can't open a 70's lunchbox.
