If Bioware is planning to release some sort of expansion, then they could work out the hands while they are at it, it's the only real thing that bugs me.

Sometimes, when looking at certain cinematics it looks like they just copied everything male and just tweaked it a little bit.

"Pfff, we still need to change some meshes, but the game is about to be released... Hmm, sacrafices will have to be made."

I agree on most of the points metioned here and especially hair options and the stiff female figure.

However I cannot understand how some people point to Mass Effect as being any better in female figure departement?

Seriously I always had huuuuge problems with Shepard's figure - to me she looks kinda hunched lacking a better word to describe that and her bossom surely looks as it started it's journey south a few decades to early.

So while DA females still have some issues to me they look way better than poor Shepard.

I'm fine with the man-hands if they'd just give the girls some actually long hair options, not the damned up-dos. I can understand a warrior having their hair tied back, but a mage would be fine with long hair.

Then again, that may also have to do with the fact the way they chose to do hair means it's stiff as a board...

Has a avid Age of Conan gamer..DAO option for creating a character stink.
Not even boobies option.

I think the weird female gait is down to Bioware using identical animations for both male and female characters and the person supplying the original motion capture being male. It's a narrow track gait, which is fine for a man with narrow hips and pelvis but looks decidedly off on a female; whose wider hips and pelvis create a very different natural gait.

I wouldn't complain too much about the female proportions (hands are a little off), but the combat run animation seems kind of hunched and bowlegged. The regular run looks more like a jog than a run, but seems like an okay jog animation.

The collar bone thing is weird looking, sometimes it almost looks like a 2nd set of cleavage. And you definitely have to pick a max thickness neck. I agree on lack of hair styles. None hang quite right and most are ugly.

But my biggest compaint for the character generator would be the portrait feature. My portrait looks butt ugly compared to the model used in game. It's a single player game, they could have easily bumped up the portrait quality to match the model.

Actually, nobody has said so and perhaps it is just me, but the main strange thing I find about the female character models (I've only seen Human and Elves not the dwarves) is their walking and running animations. While the male characters walk and run quite naturally (to my eye), the female characters appear to be quite stiff in comparison and look a bit awkward. Is it really just me? if not for this I might have already tried out a female character (well, I probably will anyway, but the walk and run animations annoy me a bit lol).

YES OMG.

What was with the hunching? Isn't she supposed to be in the military?

I wuld like my female warrior who is wearing full plate armor, plate shield and a broad sword look like she actuly can wield that stuff and fight with it. Wuld look wierd if she was small and slender. Wuld be nice for future to atleest give us some form of body options. Even if its yust three options.

I don't really care about having big boobs, big hips, or even big hands ..as a matter of fact, big hands are used to slap the heck outta Loghains face! But the HAIR! C'Mon! Really?!

Did all women in the middle ages cut their hair with a dull knife or what? And then comb it with fish bones? lol. Can we at least have a small patch for more hair options?

Bioware games have traditionally had some terrible hair choices, and limited customization options, which is a huge contrast to their amazing storytelling and in game choices. Neverwinter nights 2 had equally bad, short hair. But I like to think of it in RPG terms. You're an adventurer. You run around and camp in the wilds and get splattered by monsters. You're probably not going to have nice long hair. As for the mage argument...well, what if you set that long hair on fire? :) Thus the tied up hair or the short hair makes sense to me.

I seriously doubt they will fix the hair issue with patches or expansions, as previous Bioware games have shown, BUT there will certainly be amazing mods made by fans that will provide more hair options. Just give it a bit more time.

As for body shape...I think the females are pretty, to tell the truth. Again, you're an adventurer. How are you going to smack around darkspawn if you don't have biceps and strong legs? I do agree the running animation is kind of funny though. :P

I'm not that picky so I don't notice the body shapes as much. But I do find the running animation on females a little odd... I noticed it especially in the alienage as my characters rushed around the tree...

But my main disappointment with the character customization is the lack of decent hairstyles as many others... and the few choices for eye shapes. Perhaps some more ear customizations would be nice too... like being able to stick them out more... so that elven ear could stick out of their hair...

But I have to admit, this character creation system is still a big jump from the set faces from NWN2.

I think hair must be a real bugbear for developers. They just never seem to get it right.

I just started playing a female character and I gotta agree. The hands, holy crap, the hands! And I feel like my girl walks like a guy. It's truly annoying.

I think they walk like they're getting ready to draw a pair of six shooters, arms are kind of spread and dangling.

It's probebly like a Samurai thing. Where having their ponytail cut is a dishonor?

The shoulders for women are too wide and bony. Check out Leliana's shoulders in the Sacred Ashes video. Should have been like that! Why didn't they copy the ME models?
