I'm trying to view a dialog tree like the one shown in the Toolset Wiki at:

It looks like this:



But if I open a dialog file in the toolset on my PC, it looks like this:



There's also no toolbar or tabs as shown in Wiki.

What the hell am I doing wrong? Why can't a see the dialog tree view or anything else that's shown in the Wiki? Did I open the wrong file? Is there some setting (that I can't find) in the toolset to change the view?

Please, any help would be appreciated.

Are you opening the file directly, or selecting the conversation from the resource palette?

The file is the exported version and won't work; you need to grab it from the palette (probably on the right of your screen). You'll need to open the appropriate module from File > Manage Modules to see it.

Thank you so much! I'm sure that's "toolset 101" but I could not find that info anywhere and I swear I've been searching for hours.

Yeah, it's not really obvious, but the toolset works from a database, not from files.  It creates the files from that database for the game to read, but you can't work on them directly.

The extra confusing bit is that resources have the same name as the file they'll end up as when exported, so when you do open it properly it will say leliana.dlg on your screen, even though it's just database rows

Don't worry though, it'll soon be second nature.
