If you guys remember, the writers stated that the origins in DAO were a way to introduce the player to the world. You know, get them familiar with how things roll in Thedas. And throughout each race and faction, there's troubles that they each have.

Nobility and bloody in-fighting
Mages and their oppression by the templars.
Elves and their repression by ignorant humans.
Dalish Elves and their desire to uncover their past and rebuild their homeland.
Dwarves and their survival against the Darkspawn, plus the segregation because of the Castes.

All things an Origin story displays.

In DAO, the nobility/in-fighting bit happened as a sideplot with Loghain and whatnot.

In DAII, the mage vs Templar issue was a major factor. Seen from the beginning, and building up through the arcs till it all went to hell at the end.

So, the theory, perhaps in each DA game to come, one of these issues will relate to the story of said game. Either as the main plot or a major side plot. With the final game being the culmination and resolution of everything.

So what could DAIII encompass? Will the elves revolt against humans because they're being treat more harshly by the Inquisition? Will the Dalish see the strife in Human lands as an opportune moment to take back key elvhen manuscripts and artifacts humans have claimed over the years? Will the Dwarves finally come together(like the Bhelen ending foretold) to kick the Darkspawn in the balls and send them packing?

Obviously, DA:I will be about a wandering barbarian or a necromancer who seizes control of a kingdom.

^ No one will get that ref.

I thought you were gonna suggest theres a big analogy for the israel/palestine conflict, and the larger cultural/religious/geopolitical situation its at the center of.

But yeah, nvm, better to not get cought up in all that nonsense.  =p  Plus I don't think Gaider is trying to be that preachy.  He's not Trey and Matt (South Park).

I think Inquisition is gonna be about unraveling the lore of the world and figuring  out the realities behind all the myths and legends, how the current  crisis is deeply connected to all of it, and seeking ways to prevent the clock to be turned back on history to repeat the mistakes of the past.

We see in Asunder the Chantry is trying to change its ways but it does too little too late.  Now it has to switch gears and try to find a way of solving the crisis and coming out the other end in a better world then it came in from.  A new world order of sorts.  No more assumptions based on myths, no more shrouding the world in ignorance and ignoring the realities that lay right in front of everyones blindfolded faces.  The chantry itself doesn't even understand why it does the things it does anymore.  Theres too little recorded history to go by, the entire of Thedas has essentially been living in a self-induced coma, a lie.  Now its time to unravel the worlds secrets and figure out how to make a better world from it.  To finally propell itself out of its centurys old dark age.  Basically to have the fantasy equivelent of an age of enlightenment.  That is the purpose of the inquisition, to put aside preconcieved notions and discover the truth.  Of everything.

Or at least thats what I'm getting from it so far.  Might end up waaaay less expansive then that.

I think Origins served to give a foundation for the player, presenting only *some* of the main plot arcs that might continue as undercurrents in future games. There's still the Qunari to consider, as well as the Tevinter Imperium, and whatever it is the Grey Wardens have been doing in their off-Blight hours.

If anything, I would guess that DA:I/3 will deal with the role of magic/mages in Thedas. And that will touch upon relations between various factions and peoples - the elves and their desire to restore their history, the dwarves and their link to ancient powers, etc.

Or...DA:I/3 will finally deal with the prevalent cheese trade.

If Bioware had the willingness to tackle such a sticky subject we'd have herd of it by now. Quite frankly, they aren't doing their dairy best work and they're all a bit crackers. Their latest writing is Stilton and they don't have the joie de brie they used to have. There's nothing gouda we can say about it.

Conan the Barbarian?  The first movie.

Even if that ISN'T the reference you meant, I say it fits fairly well. :P

In 2005, BioWare created a Dragon Age FAQ that said you could play a dwarven prince, a wandering barbarian, or a necromancer who takes over the kingdom. They are cut Origins.

And the Dalish COULD be seen as wandering barbarians. Or at least most Andrastians would like to think so.

Okay, its a stretch :P
The necromancer? Yeah, I got nothing.

Oh, something creepy just entered my mind. What if the do a mass effect like ending and makes a "the world is not big enough for all of us" ending?

And then you have to choose which race/faction gets to survive...... /shudders
