Not trying to silence them or anything. You're right on that "Like/Agree" thing, BUT is it too difficult to agree in silence? Just nod your head and say "yeeeah, I agree with that", instead of endlessly quoting something. It is pointless. Subjectively, you think you're right about the "Win" thing, so the approval brings something to you. It is not necessary if you're right.

PS: You're right.

No, you misunderstand. I don't get any satifaction out of it other than seeing a bunch of different people agree on something, on the BSN.. Doesn't happen too often...

I think the reason they don't "answer in silence" is because you're asking for people's dlc idea. If they didn't quote it they wouldn't be answering the thread. That and it's just so simple to click quote and submit Image IPB

So, any other suggestions on conventional victory could be done?

(This is mostly me playing Devil's Advocate. I already know what would work and what wouldn't. But I am interested in seeing if anyone else understands the nuts and bolts well enough.)

1) Shepard and Bailey: Buddy cops.
2) The Collectors are still a threat
3) The pocket-dimension technology that allows the War Room to fit in the Normandy goes haywire and all sorts of crazy stuff happens.

Your sig... How can you support something that doesn't exist?

I really like IT theory, but I also like the ideas behind a literal ending (albeit, the current verison needs more explaining - for me to actively "like" what I play in game). The two ideas can be mutually enjoyed.

I haven't seen any responses to well-reasoned theories because I haven't seen any well-reasoned theories. Why don't you give me a quick summery for me of how it could be done? I promise you I'll make no such dismissive comments.

Not conventional, but no "I win" button, that the enemy ALLOWS you to press/shoot:

As seen in Arrival, Mass Relay explosions are bad.
As we are told in Mass Effect, The Citadel is a Mass Relay, that works over a far greater range than the Mass Relays we use on a day to day basis.
Anderson tells us that the vast majority of Reaper forces are concentrated around Earth, London particularly.
The Citadel also happens to have been relocated to Earth.
The Crucible is used to activate, and overload the Citadel Relay, creating a massive explosion. Most of the Allied fleets retreated before the Crucible was activated, but the Reapers were still around. Reapers in the system and Earth (unfortunate, but that's war) go boom.

The war in the galaxy continues, but we've evened the numbers a bit. Maybe even enough for conventional victories. At the very least, we've bought the galaxy a lot more time.

Bittersweet, heroic sacrifice (no way Shepard survives being in the middle of a Mass Relay explosion), and foreshadowed (Mass Relay explosions, and also having to sacrifice a lot lives to give others hope of survival) by what we've seen in previous releases.

Given the fact that this is a trilogy then realistically it has to be a victory - either that or lead on to another game.
Starchilds and win buttons are for preschool sci fi, and we had come to expect better of, at the time, the finest story tellers in gaming.
So this gives us a conventional victory.
But that isn't the important bit.
The important bit is the cost to Shephard and the crew.
Who on the Normandy - if any - would survive.
We didn't play this game for the story, as much as for the characters in it.

Anyways, back on topic:
Reaper RTS dlc (every once in a while you'd have to contend with a hero Shepard unit).

Oh? Care to elaborate?

If I may.

You stopped the reapers from destroying your cycle. You saved countless billions if not trillions from extinction. And your friends didn't starve to death marooned on a jungle planet, and many went on to live good lives depending on your choices.

I'd say that counts as a win.

Note, than, that what you should be requesting, is for "more win" than what you got, instead of just calling the other person a drone, delusional, and saying they are up biowares gastrointestinal track.(You and the guy who said it)

It was far too easy. It feels almost as if we only "won" because the enemy  ALLOWED us to do so....

Seems that kind of victory happens all the time, in what is essentially the enemy surrendering and giving you a terms of their surrender.

Besides, what's so easy about having to call the entire united galaxy fleet, fighti through the streets of london, get almost blown up by harbinger, and having to make yourself limp all the way into the ctiadel and get the crucible linked up to the citadel?

How about a DLC that just adds in scenes for the Miranda, Jack, Garrus, Tali, Thane, and Kelly romances?

As for a story DLC. Shepard gets sent to a Reaper Harvesting Camp, can be on Palaven, Thessia, Kar'Shan, Kahje, hell even Earth, and once there he discovers that the reapers there are under Cerberus control, and now he has to find a way to use or destroy the control signal.

Enemies don't usually surrender when they've already won.

And why is it so easy? A man who was blown near to death, was able to get past the suspiciously low security around the beam, then enter the Crucible, kill/persuade the lone guard, pass out without activating the Crucible AND still have the enemy surrender? Sounds pretty easy to me.
