will say: i wish people would stop asking for nerfs cause something is popular...if it's deemed something is too powerful (which i think nothing in the game is by itself, i'm talking without mods/consumables), then make the change for the better of the game....but for the the people saying nerf something cause it's used a lot (in this case, the acolyte), when will you people learn that is always gonna happen in games?...whenever people find something that helps make the game a lil easier, it becomes popular, but that doesnt mean it needs a nerf....cause watch, give it a week or 2, there will be another flavor of the month gun/kit that a lot of people will be using...are yall gonna ask for nerfs to that too? if so, when will it stop? when you stop playing the game? when everything is nerfed back to the 1st thing you complained about being the most popular again?...just asking, cause people finding whatever helps make the game easier is never gonna stop...it happened long before me3, and it will happen long after me3...also, the only people you have to blame for something getting popular is yourselves...some will share how the gun works well, others start using it and share, it then becomes popular..but then people have the nerve to get upset at the popularity...it's hilarious lol
by the way: i dont care about the acolyte nerf, i use it on 2 kits, and those are both adapts....my lil rant came from always seeing people on here talk about how well something works, but then turn around and ask for it to get nerfed cause people start using it....
another thought just came to me: i remember when the acolyte first came out, the majoirty of the bsn thought it sucked, until godless said different...then it became one of the most popular and fav guns...the good ole bsn, yall are hilarious to me

We also have a small Valkyrie buff this week, but just to warn everyone we also have a small nerf to the Acolyte and one to the Stimulant Pack power since after some testing and feedback we've concluded that they are too powerful.
Sadly, we can't just go back to a charging Acolyte, like it used to be, can we?
We could go back to the charge mechanic, but there is some debate in the office about whether that is desirable. What do you guys think? I don't think today's nerf to the Acolyte will be enough.

Change it back to having a charge up. Keep original stats.

I enjoyed the charge mechanic. It stood well with me, and I had no problem with it.Eric Fagnan wrote...

Well, we'll see, right? Personally I kinda liked the charge mechanic.
In any case, there'll be plenty of threads discussing of the buffs/nerfs this week, so you'll have your work cut out for you, Eric.

I preferred the charge mechanic, it made you have to plan a bit more when using the weapon. I think the original acolyte was pretty well balanced (I think it had a reduced modifier against barriers/shields)
Edit: Thanks for asking for our opinions! I really appreciate it and hope you continue to participate in discussions with us. If you want to,

I think it was great and balanced when it had the charge mechanism. Charge mechanism with the original stats is the way to go!

I was expecting something along the lines of the Arc pistol. Doesn't take extra ammo, but reduced damage without charging first.

I knew a nerf was coming the moment it lost that mechanic, since it was too powerful. Before it took a unique skill to use that gun effectively, and it was balanced because of it.
Ooo, the Arc Pistol idea might be a decent compromise, although I'd prefer the old charge mechanic.

Please keep the no charge mechanic.
Make it heavier, less damage, usable once a month or whatever you want, but no charge, please.

NO WAY!! I do not like charge weapons at all. I can plant 3 headshots with a normal weapon way faster than I can charge a weapon and then hope I hit my target in the face for max damge. If it goes back to charging, it will go back to the shelf for me, and all my pull casters will have to go with it.

Happy nerfer trolls? Finally getting your wish.
back on topic, I think going back to the charge mechanic would be fine. All the whining started when the charge was taken out .
You guys better not touch the shield and barrier damage.

Returning the charge mechanic and fire rate would be a buff, and I would love it.

Good, brings back the learning curve and maybe people will stop crying about it till it gets nerfed

I liked the charge mechanic, but I honestly don't understand why it's considered OP in the first place. It's worthless as a primary weapon on anything other than a caster class.
Edit: If you do bring back the charge mechanic, could you please look at if you don't charge it long enough still allow the weapon to discharge at half damage? Similar to that of the Arc pistol.

Because the arc pistol with its shots that beat the Paladin, Kishock, Graal as well as other rifles are so underpowered.
Seriously, if you can't shoot as good as on a normal gun with a charge weapon (ignore projectile delay though >_>) you are pretty bad. The arc pistol is the best example for that.

Isn't it obvious, the crybabies whined enough about it to get bioware to nerf it. Its been this way with nearly every major nerf in this game.
PLEASE go back to the charge mechanic. i learned to use that and fell in love with the gun. Now thanks to missile glitchers and people whining about "balance" its being nerfed

I generally don’t like (read: hate) charge up weapons, but
for whatever reason, I got used to it with the Acolyte, and think that it fits
better than the current firing mechanism. I’m fine with the gun either way, but
if turning it back into a charge up gun stops it from being nerfed significantly,
I’m in support of the charge up.
