Thats not what he said. he said a lot of people didn't like it due to the charge mechanic. The gun was still extremely good as it is now, it actually took me awhile to adjust to the no charge mechanic

Just how much barrier does a phantom have on gold and platinum? Its really not a lot compared to other boss like characters. why wouldn't the acolyte destroy its shields on hit seeing as though it doesn't have a high amount? 

you can pretty much get rid of it with overload, so what makes the acolyte any different?

I've stopped using the Saber altogether, so I hope the buff is decent because I really enjoy using it.

I've always used the Acolyte anyway, it was fine with the charge up mechanic, should have been left that way.

I skip out I havoc strike at the moment on the grounds of "suicide is bad", it's going to need a big buff to convince me to spec into it ever again.

Think about what you just said.  You honestly think one of the lightest guns in the game should be able to one shot a Phantom's barriers?  On builds that aren't even specced for weapon damage?  Seriously?


The acolyte one-shot phantom barriers before and nobody thought it was OP then. So why not a RoF nerf vs a damage nerf? It's the only weapon that allows power-classes to compete with weapon classes. Otherwise, if you're wasting time on that second shot to kill a phantom barriers, it's pretty much death. And it;s not like there aren;t other phantoms and dragoons trying to maul you in the process.

Wow. way to ACTUALLY be what you are acusing Eric of being. Nice response. Very classy. You must be a joy to be around.

Will be interested to see what the changes are. I agree with the Stim Pack. The insane survivability is what puts the Ghost over the top. Even I can clutch rounds on Gold with that guy.

I mean if I play a private solo match, how does the game know about the nerfs/buffs. The damage and other weapon stats are specified in our local files and I thought you needed a patch to modify game files.

So how does BioWare do this? Do they modify the local game files to make these changes?

There is a local game file full of things in it, however.
Whenever you log in, your game pulls a new file out of the multiplayer server, that is updated with the balance changes. It's a pretty smart way of doing this.

We all need to be perfectly honest with each other, the Acolyte does too much damage against target's health for how it's supposed to function. WIth a Pistol Amp 3 on Gold you can one shot a Phantom if their barrier is down which is a little too multi purpose. The gun turns Geth into horrific jokes as well. I don't mind it, it does need it. As long as the shield damage stays it's still a great weapon to have handy. As to the Stim Packs it only makes sense so long as they buff Havoc Strike, which they are doing. The Saber buff is most welcome. Great AR but it should definitely be doing more damage than the Paladin despite the far larger clip size. It's overshadowed by its other UR AR brethren.

the acolyte is only good for stripping shields on a boss character. its almost useless against armour. i dont believe it needs a nerf. but yet again the losers get what they whinge for because they dont like people to enjoy themselves

i have used it on gold with a pistol amp 3 and never been able to one shot a shieldless phantom with the acolyte. keep it real
