Favourite: Deus Ex, but since I've mentioned that so many times on this forum, I'll mention some others
GTA games (from 3)
Need for Speed Underground
Also, I never owned it, but Micromachines was ridiciulously fun.

Define "childhood". Are we talking about primary school years (K-6) or everything up until high school graduation? For the former, the game would be the original Contra on NES. My parents bought a used one at a garage sale around my 5th birthday, and I played the hell out of it. The game still works. For the latter case, though, the game would be Halo. My uncle brought his Xbox on a family vacation the summer after release and my whole extended family spent more time playing that game than doing anything else (much to my grandmother's chagrin). It's the reason I bought an Xbox (which eventually lead to purchasing ME1) and what really got me into gaming as a whole. So I'd probably say Halo has a lot more happy memories associated with it and such.

In b4 lock? not exactly story or campaign related.
I always loved Lemmings, Doom I/II, Sylpheed for PC. Super Mario World, Legend of the Mystical Ninja, Final Fantasy "II" and "III" (actually IV and VI respectively) for SNES. Those are just ones that jump out at me though.
