What I do hope is that there is -more or less- a replacement for each companion of the old DAO party, I am too used to them and their talents.

im sure it was posted but how will a new warden be placed inn the game? will they be fully custumizable, and how will their skill level be? will you be a lowly recruit or will you inherit you deceased warden's skill level?
The new warden will be Orlais Grey Warden if you decide to go that route. I'm guessing he'll be fully customizable, both skills and talents wise as well as the looks, race and background department. No word on how things work if you import a dead Grey Warden yet.

i got a question about the expansion, the original and mass effect 2 if anyone can ansew
firstly anyone now if there is exclusive items for pre ordering the expansion?
second
question is that, you know when you bought DAO and got code for dragon
armour in mass effect 2, so will mass effect have a code for DAO for
any new armour?
Nothing official yet about exclusive pre
order items. But apparently, there's a few German sites listing
Bregan's Bow as a preorder item for Awakening. Could be something,
Could be notihng.
I don't think Mass Effect 2 will have a code for new armor in DA:O since DA:O is already out.

Heya, I'm totally looking forward to the expansion, but I'm a little worried too.
On gamestop.com it says "NOTICE: Requires Dragon Age Origins, internet connection, and hard drive to play. "
I don't actually have in internet connection (I have to borrow my mums computer for the internet, but her system is so old it won't run games like NWN let alone Dragon Age) so my question is this;
Does anyone know if this requirement for an internet connection is mandatory for playing/running the game? or is it the same as Dragon Age Origins, and you merely need the internet connection if you want to connect to your player profile? in other words optional?
I'm hoping someone on here may know or have found some information that I haven't on the matter
Thanks guys
Hey mate.
Well I don't know your economic and that's non of my business but if the computer you have Dragon age: Origins on is in your house then by a router. That doesn't cost very much. To if you shouldn't know it's internet from your Modem to all other computers in the house. It shouldn't cost much and then you can have internet on all of your computers

No one have asked me to follow them or I haven't asked everyone. Do I have to ask or does someone have to ask me to get them with me to Awakening?? I have killed Zevran at the second time he tried to kill me and I didn't understand the thing so much with getting better friends and lovers. Do you think that the "favourite" is the person you chose to get with you??

No you don't have to. That one that will be returning is already pre selected by BioWare, so whom you ask out to accompany you in the ending of DAO is futile and won't change who the returning companion will be.
So also no, you have no choice in who that old member will be, that choice is already made, but not yet revealed. He/she will appear in Awakening nevertheless of what you told him to do in the ending of DAO.

And this is a very bad choice in my own opinion. When I read about the expansion I hoped something different.
I hoped in a continuation of our personal involvement with other characters... Stunned when I read it will not be so...

I won't say it's bad. Just think about the economic implications: you have 10 possible companions, each can be developed and treated very differently. If they let you choose which one to take, they'll have to write a plot that incorporates all these characters, all possible kind of relationships for each one of them, all the voice acting, and you will only get so see only one of them. Even if you bring it down to just the 4 romance options, it's still a heavy undertaking. And remember, you'll have to write a plot where all 4 or 10 will play a meaningful role but where nevertheless the one you did not choose is not missing, plotwise.
I don't know if this even be feasible, but even if it does, it an enormous undertaking that costs a huge amount of money, and people are already complaining 'bout the 40 bucks. Just imagine what would be going on here if they charge you 60 or 70 $ cause they let you import more party members or chose one out of 10.
They said there will be cameos, ands even if you favorite one won't appear at all, this is just the first expansion, and there's reason to hope there will be more than one (though NOTHING is confirmed, before i accidently create another rumor, just speculation), so it's fine with me. Maybe your or my favorite one will return int the next xpac.
Ofc i would like to see my favorite one, but i won't be disappointed if i won't (okay, that was a lie, i will be, but i will still enjoy the game and put my hopes in the future), and i realize and can arrange myself with the reality that more than a previously selected one is simply not possible for an xpac. And a good and meaningful cameo of a favorite can be good way to continue that story too.

I would say that the ending of the of dragon age origins should allow u to pick who's gonna be coming for the expansion. And have a simular system with mass effect 2 so when u create the new character u can choose what happens and such...u know make the game more fun to play...x3
hmm well the game is already fun to play but that's an intriguing idea that would work, maybe it'll be placed in the up and coming exp! keep your fingers crossed.

I forgot where I read this but someone from Bioware said for 'Return to Ostigar' something about where Duncan is thought to have died. I wondered about that and also wonder if these little hints will be carried through iRtO and nto Awakening? That is if that's not summed up in RtO. There's a lot of little hints to Awakening in the OC.... I really like how Bioware is spreading out the whole DA:O story over different DLC! Super cool.

I guess we'll start with money to buy gear without old equipment. But that would be hell of a waste off all the old stuff...

Everything except whatever is in your chest in Warden's Keep if you have that DLC

Yeah this is true from the moment they choosed to build new companions for the expansions. But for my experience in RPG I would have preferred to continue the adventure with old companions. Have you ever played Baldur's Gate 2 + Throne of Baal? I loved the opportunity to continue my romance with Aerie, Viconia or Jaheria and I would have preferred this thing would happen also in Dragon age Awakening.
If 10 companions were too much to build up in Awakening with stories and dialogue they could keep only 4 main romancable characters + other 2 chosen from Wynnie, Stan or Oghren. (Loghain would be not available beacuse he had many opportunities to die in main story, the dog ? they could keep it because I don't believe it's too expensive to build, the Golem is a Premium character so they could easily exclude it)
I think that you have to pay dubbing for new character as much as you had to pay it also for old.. so why this choice? I know that favorite characters like Leliana, Zevran, Alistair will probably have a cameo role in Awakening but doesn't feel like have them with you in adventure... And when they will appear what will you do? Will you keep a platonic relationship whit them removing yourself the opportunity to have relationship with your new companions?
So all the job they did to create new involvments, new romances wil be useless... Don't you think so?
I believe that many people are not really intersted in these things and give more importance to other feauters of the game (like new armors or new abilities) but there are lot of players like me who give high importance to the personal storyline of their character and don't like too much this breakdown of the personal involvement of the character with companions....

if you player dies in the end of the the first game can you still play as them in the expansion
No.. you have to load a oldest save (for example before the Landsmeet) but Melo said that in this case the "reactivity" of the expansion with the choises you performed in DAO will be very lower, so this is not reccomended
if you load the epilogue save where your player is dead you will begin with new character. So if you want your player in awakening I suggest you to change your final

I'm with you that i would like all old companions to reappear and continue with them, and of course i want my romance back. And to answer your question, even if she won't show up, i won't cheat on her and ignore the other new possible romance partners anyway.
The answer why they can't keep them is how that NPC's played out in DAO. If you want to make a sequel or an xpac, you can't allow for a great variety in outcome or possible endings cause you always have to keep in mind that you want them all to continue the story. Casey Hudson, producer of ME 2 once said one of the hardest parts was to generate multiple endings that reflect how you play your game while at the same time do not that differ that much as all players can play ME 3 along the same storyline.
That is also the case for DAO. Many peole love the difference the characters have, that they reflect and sometimes heavily disgaree on how you play the game. They took it that far as that all except one specific party member has at least one chance to die, some even as much as three separate chances, and all ten can leave you behind if they don't agree with you.
This creates a huge diversity and greatly adds to the characters and their personality, but also makes it virtually impossible to get them all together for an xpac. I would not want that a former party member who died would simply reappear for Awakening. They could continue Awakening with the same party, but then DAO and it' characters relations would had to be very different to what they are now, and there is no turning back now.

More would be nice and a large party group like 5 or 6. Full out battles like the end of DAO.
