Yes, dumping her would be kind of a waste of useful resources.

First, Zevran mentioned a black marsh witch of the wilds in Orlais during one of the party banter dialogues with Morrigan.
Second, the 'purple guy' giving prophesies might be one of the supposedly original Tevinter magisters who entered the black city creating the blight.

The message of this trailer is that Oghren was eaten by a mist dragon and replaced!
I am hoping?
...
Dang.

Disagree completely.
As someone mentioned already the Fade sucked and the only thing I liked out of it was the permanent bonus to stats. If you're going to have something like that you need to make it worth going to. If the Fade is this great place of "evil" aka hell, then I want to kill a god!
Another improvement I would like to see in the DA is loot, or better yet a quest for and "uber" sword or staff. I was incredibly disappointed that I basically got crap for killing a dragon. I expected more. I remember killing a red dragon in one of those D&D games that BioWare put out years ago and you got the "Holy Avenger" which was an incredible sword.
I want my uber sword, not some junk that I can sell to a vendor!
AS far as the AI goes, well it can always be better but to be honest I had the most issues with mages in this game. The funny thing is, and it was in the Fade of all places, depending on what shape I was the mages countered effectively. I was impressed by this.
Looking back to BG and some of those games what made them great was the exploration, the items, the real "basicness" of the adventure, but it was an adventure. You got to tackle the "thieves guild" or a wild dungeon.
One of the most memorable things out of all of the games I ever played that I frequently remember was WAY back in the first gold box game Pool of Radiance.....the grave yard. Undead just creep me out, always have. The Fade reminded me of of those stupid towers you had to go up in Oblivion. It got old real fast and I thought it was a bad hack job to be honest. Again, give me a god and it's loot if you're going to do that.
Crafting: make it worth the while. The "enchantment" thing was silly. Add armor/smithing and make it worth it.
The basic things make a RPG: exploration, loot, bosses, then story. I like a good storyline, but lets be honest. When you're taking on a dragon are you really thinking about storyline?
You know last summer I went back and played some of those gold box games and they STILL hold up even with the stinky graphics. Why? Everything I mentioned above.

I disagree. A story can make a game. I seem to be in the minority here but loot is the last thing I really care about. It's story first and then fights and explorations. Without a decent story the game wont keep my attention.

Note: I wasn't there personally, so I could have been lied to but it doesn't seem like it from the people I've heard from. I want to know if anyone else has come across this for Awakening.

She could still be back, its rather unlikely she will be back as a companion, but there might be a good chance she comes back as a cameo or some reference to her.
On another forum topic someone stated that the Architect apparantly hunts old gods, so considering you took the ritual route and Morrigans child did get the soul of an old god the child could be in danger and she might come to you for help.
At the very least I hope they will lift a tiny bit of the veil of mystery around what the current situation is or give us a glimpse of more information as a cliffhanger so we can come up with even more theories about her.
The chances of her being the returning companion in this expansion are rather slim, especially considering dog and Oghren are much easier choices since they have no special connection to any player. But we will see, for all we know she might be the returning companion and perhaps even the center of the story all we can do is wait and see!

Well.. If you had me as master in a RPG game session then you would be really bored for sure... The difference beetwen a RPG Game and an Arcade Game are
1- Storyline
2 - Character's Personality implementation

Yup I agree as well. I've always compared RPG games with old adventure games or interactive books... The story is what the game is about, and its the main thing that almost all MMORPGs lack. The fighting etc is important too of course, but only to strengthen the story.

that trailer is really appalling... not just the oghren thing, but i mean its just crap... though to be honest, i dont really mind that its oghren, would have preferred another companion but it shall do
You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but personally I thought the trailer was terrific, really whetted my appetite for the game.
it was alight
Actually I had typed my previous response before noticing there was a new video (which I presume is the one Ben was initially addressing?)
I admit its pretty short and doesn't show us anything new, so its a tad disappointing. I do REALLY like the Lady of the Black Marshes design though (is it the Spectral Dragon...possibly). Looks great.

Without the solid story to propel me along to play 2 consecutive games in 2 weeks I would still have enjoyed it, but I would have shelved it after I finished my first game.
One more thought;
I'm pretty sure Alistair comes back. He appears in one of the trailers saying something about 'looking forward to the whole dark spawn thing again', which I hope is true.
Both Alistair and my female elf did not die after slaying the dragon. After relinquishing his right to be King to Anora he mentions in the ending scene that we would continue to be together, and Queen Anora who announces that my now Hero Character shall, with other Grey Wardens, continue the work for the Grey Wardens at Warden's Keep.
All in all, I honestly think this IS the best of both RPG gaming, a solid tactical game moved along by a fluid story line that carries it farther than any PRG I have ever played!

So if your favorite character isn't playable companion in awakening, that doesn't mean he/she is thrown away...

Its interesting to note that the favourite companion poll shows us a few things.
1. The Top three are the young and attractive characters.
2. The top three are the first three (humanoid) companions you get to keep over the course of the game.
3. The top three are all humans.
4. Each of the top three comes from a different class.
Note that from what we know of Awakenings, you will have six total companions to choose from. If we have two mages, two warriors and two rogues (hypothetically), then you could have two completely distinct parties with all bases covered.
In the first game, of the 8 companions, half are human and there is one each of the other races (and one dog).
I wonder if we will see a similar breakdown for Awakening?
If starting to think that the blonde haired female mage could be an elf mage, suggesting...
Female Elf Mage
Female Qunari Rogue
Male (or Female) Human Rogue
Male Human Warrior
Male Human Mage
Male Dwarf Warrior (Oghren)

Please, don't forget that it's been said that awakening isn't the only expansion we'll see, so there is plenty of time to bring back Alistair/Sten/Wynne/Shale/Oghren/Morrigan/Zevran/Dog/Leliana..
So if your favorite character isn't playable companion in awakening, that doesn't mean he/she is thrown away...
Maybe... But doing this you will only postpone problems, even if you don't get worse problem!!
In awakening what will you do? Will you remain faithful to your beloved? Or will you cheat him/her ?! So in a 2nd expansion not only you have the problem to implement the end of DAO but also if you still love him/her... Too difficult to manage... They have to choose NOW what they want to do with them...
