What was the reason for not importing the love interest npcs from the first adventure? I understand Morigan, and Alistair would be up in the air because of his uncertain role in the world, but what about Liliana and Zevran, either of whom should be alive and may have well been your love interest the first time through?
While I like seeing new characters, sure, it is frustrating when you choose a love interest in one game and then have it taken away in the next. (ME2 did this with some characters as well, though rumor is they'll have more of a part in ME3) I would much rather dig deeper into the existing love interest character than have to start again from scratch. And what if my character was hopelessly in love with Liliana - now she's just out of luck?
Also, how many hours of game play are they suggesting "Awakening" will offer?

It's never been said that they wouldn't be imported. Just because they aren't in your party doesn't mean your relationship with *Insert Name Here* can't be continued on and that they can't play an important role in your story. I don't understand why people are so fixated on the notion that because they won't be a companion they won't be in the game picking up where you left off. Been done in games before, will be done in games to come.
Also, how many hours of game play are they suggesting "Awakening" will offer?
No one knows for sure aside from the folks with the Bioware tags and they aren't sharing. Somewhere between 1-100 hours is the best I can do for you.

When they said we can import our characters, does this mean I can import the Warden I made (his personality, his memory) or just his stats? Like if I made Aedan Cousland, will he still be the Aedan Cousland from DAO and imported to Awakening or just some guy who looks like him (who's an Orlesian) and have the same stats?
I think it is the same Grey Warden.

Unless your character chose the ending where return would be impossible.

It's the same Grey Warden as in Dragon Age: Origins. You continue the story but if you chose a path at the end where your Warden died it is not possible to transfer your character. Still you can transfer your save game and all your chooses and information from your game will transfer to Awakening. Then you gave the ability to make an Orlesian Warden.

Awakening is being developed by BioWare and almost all of us worked on Dragon Age.
So blame you all for not being able to get through a entire play through (after a 120hrs) cause of corrupt save files?

bioware loves perishing the companions and games we like most. companions like aribeth de tylmarande in nwn(the magical thing about her was her voice i believe. there could be even a full game on aribeth's name provided same voice actor's performance and would be awesome) games like baldur's gate 2 and it will hit dragon age as well i think.
that leaves two problems between gamers and producers:
gamers want to go on the story where it was. they want the old characters return and they want to interact with them again. bioware doesn't want the players to get it somehow.
bioware makes the games how to say...overepic? so that there would be no return after finishing an episode. by overepic i mean you either end up gods' business(like neverwinter nights, baldur's gate) or save the galaxy-universe ect ect.. even in dragon age you are saving the world. well after that kind of experience like killing a god or a dragon, the hero should be logically unbeatable so there can't be a point for bioware to make more games of the same hero's adventures. so they have to start over another game and put the same name on the game even if there is nothing familiar between the previous and next game. for example i loved nwn and got its expansions after finishing it. but i was childishly furious when i saw i wasn't the hero of neverwinter on expansions. to be honest i bought them only to see what happened to aribeth. after i played a while events doubled my furry at the end.
when is kotor3 coming btw? -.-

No you arent, you helped to unite all forces of Ferelden to stop the local blight; you are saving Ferelden.even in dragon age you are saving the world.
If you wouldnt be able to stop the blight Ferelden would have been destroyed completely. However, look at the Thedas map, Thedas is SO big, I think the Orlesian empire alone would stomp the blight back to the deep roads on its own if it gets too dangerous, maybe with Anderfels help of the grey warden (The Weisshaupt headquarter of the wardens is there). It would have been just too late for Ferelden.

oh and wouldnt it be interesting that since our grey warden is orlesian that for us special grey wardens (who fell in love with leliana and died) could import our save of our dead grey warden...and the new orlesian grey warden would look exactly like him/her and if leliana sees this person they are instantly reminded of old times and decide to join the grey warden as the secret party member?
lol so many theories...what do you all think?

Except he's the only companion without a death scenario aside from Morrigan (who runs away anyways).

this may have been asked before (not going through 100+ pages) but how many of you are with me when i say the returning character is MORRIGAN? seriously she's the ONLY character who leaves no matter what you do...you can keep ALL characters but she's the only one who bails...and since shes a love interest and her important role in the ending...why wouldnt she be? i think i ruined the story for myself if my morrigan theory is true....anybody else agree?

Considering as Morrigan was last seen heading as far from from the Warden's location as you can get, I doubt it. It has already been said that their will be no choosing of the returning companion, it will be the same for everyone. This was a expense concern, since many of the characters can be killed before the end of the game there was no reason to add a character that some people won't even be able to use.

It has already been said that their will be no choosing of the returning companion, it will be the same for everyone.
I don't think that has actually been said. The closest thing to that that has come from a devs mouth is it would be a huge waste of resources to record voices for all the companions from the previous game only to allow one of those companions to be used at a time. That really wouldn't rule out the idea that there may be a choice between a couple of characters who would be making cameos anyways.

As I said, we have also seen Allistair in the awakening trailer, they just serve as ''gap fillers''. The secret companion is still a secret!
Indeed..it was what a 30 second trailer..not enough info to go on, to assume anything in that trailer is a "spoiler". I just think...that dwarf people see is a case of mistaken identity..and that it. He doesn't look like Ohgren to me. Besides I think all we see is the back of his head.
I am going to keep with my original idea, that..its not going to be anyone's favorite romance option..either.
Can you imagine the outcry if that happened..how come "MY" romance option wasn't chosen? I think its going to be entirely different and probably a bit of surprise..yup.
