So is the expansion going to be like a DLC which I can purchase with bioware points?

Someone already answered that: No on the bioware points.

Available for pre-order now. Requires Dragon Age: Origins to play.
Digital and boxed versions available. Cannot be purchased with BioWare
points.

*Edited to correct a typo.

Looks like its Oghren as I saw the trailer earlier.  I wonder what will happen to the romances and what this bodes for the sequel, since the addition of a new Origin character some sidelines the importance of your PC in the story.  Maybe we'll never truly know if you break "that girl's" heart or not?

It is disappointing that your romances from DA:O may be lost... at least in Baldur's Gate II expansion, The Throne of Bhaal, it continued the romance you were having. lol

Eh, it may still be able to. Frequent cameo appearences with the romance choices can still allow it to continue on and grow. It seems like a fairly short expansion so I think it can be done without spending every waking moment with them in your party. All the romances allowed you to get quite a lot done in the original and not a terribly large amount of room is left to grow when considering it's a game, so other then acknowledging it's still there not terribly much more to add. We'll see, hopefully they just don't pull a "Yeah we broke up" or "so and so died.".

They may just save them for a later game as well, who knows.  The bummer is we don't have a lot of time for wild speculation considering the release date is only a few months away!  No real time to come up with wild conspiracies like other games that are years away...

*some spoilers ahoy*

It seems strange that they say only 1 party member from Origins will return. I've only fully finished one playthrough, but the feedback I got from my companions suggested Zev was the only one you could bank on to appear in an expansion set directly after in Amaranthine.

Maybe I just needed more influence with some of the others, but they were pretty high!

Oh and Dog as well of course.

Maybe they mean only 1 will join your party, but others will have cameos? Regardless it's great to get this confirmed, can't wait to see the trailer!

Given that it's only a couple of months away I wouldn't expect much to speculate on. Aside from the free phat loot I can't imagine there's much to get excited about.

It would make sense for Dog to be the single remaining companion. He isn't mentioned in the epilogue, as far as I'm aware ...

It was on Youtube for awhile, but I think it got taken down.  It showed that all your other romance options died in a terrible fire. Whether you are male or female, your only love choice is Oghren.  Sort of tough to swallow...

At least you could have offspring and a few years of normalcy with Viconia.  With the other characters...the humanity...the humanity...

Watching that made me chuckle.  In the beginning it looks like the Architect or some other major bad guy captures you (cages in the background).  If that is how the game ends, that is exactly how Baldurs Gate II started.  I will laugh if that is the shocking conclusion to the lead to the sequel.

It says "Digital and boxed versions available. Cannot be purchased with BioWare

points." Does this mean we could still purchase with microsoft points? :)

Any clue how the game compatibility itself will work? I've experimented with numerous different endings with the same character, so is there a chance the character is basically, well, useless, or can you "choose" the ending you want? It could be a serious problem.

* Choices in Origins definitely are recognized in the expansion.

I wonder how the expansion will recognise my "murder everyone possible" playthrough. Such a pity there's no way to end up with zero armies by the end of the game by being a complete ass at every opportunity -- and only ever not being an ass in order to faciliate greater ass potential later on.

What about Steam? I bought my copy of DA:O through Steam and I would like to know if Steam will carry this expansion.

Probably, but don't expect to see a pre-order option until March.

Wow this looks to be one of the first true expansions in years, for me personally at least. I loved the content I got with the TES series but wow this blows everything I've known out of the water. DA:O hands down is my personal favorite game of all time & even on my 3rd play through this game is just as interesting as day one. This expansion will just make me love it that much more.

Is it me or does the Darkspawn commander (Maybe the Architect) Look a bit like Skeletor from the Old He-Man series????
