It says that you are put into the role of a grey warden commander, it says nothing about your character being the one that ran through origins. When you import your character, it's probably just importing race/class/stats/skills ect, allowing you to not have to go through character creation again, but by no means extending your Origin's character's life or adventures.
It says that only one character from the origins is in Awakenings, which would be Alistair, which would be because he's king. So...
I was quite looking forward to an expansion that was an actual expansion. This looks more like a mini-sequel that costs $40. I'm not sure if I am disappointed or not. Maybe the story of the expansion will be good enough to hold up on it's own, separate from Origins.
Or maybe I'll spend the entire time playing it wishing that Zevran was there and scowling some new recruited rogue is using the dagger and armor that Zevran was. D; (I ended the game with Zevran fully in love with me and staying at my side to rebuild the grey wardens. So it'll be kind of dissapointed to have that rendered moot.)

Personally, I'm hoping for the 'Architect' to reveal some sort of motive for the behavior of the Darkspawn, rather than staying with the weak explanation, "Oh yes, why are the Darkspawn hell-bent on killing everything? I don't know... That's the sort of thing bad guys do, isn't it? Anyway, you figure it out, I'm busy."
On the other hand, all of this new content sounds awesome, and I can't wait for this expansion to be confirmed! (Assuming that it will be...)
The Architect reveals the darkspawns motivation in the second novel.

"Rebuild the Grey Warden order and establish their base of operations at Vigil's Keep"
STRONGHOLD?
BIOWARE, IF THIS IS TRUE, I AM SO HAPPY.

I see Ogren in the trailer. And I guess the skeletor dude is the main bad guy, just another darkspawn to fall to my hammer.
Oghren where?
I saw the backside of a dwarf that had same style hair as Oghren but it didn't have to be him. Could've been another dwarf.

Also, just because Alistair is in the trailer doesn't mean he is the companion that accompanies you. He may just make an appearance if he ended up as the king, and not actually go off on the adventure with you. Plus, Oghren can be seen briefly in the trailer as well.
Edit:
If you look at 1:10-1:11, in the bottom right corner you can see a side view of what looks lik Oghren... It's very brief though, and I suppose they could've made another red-haired dwarf with the same facial hair. *shrug*Sir Ulrich Von Lichenstien wrote...

Crossing fingers for continued story with Morrigan.

Just because Zev/Leliana said they would stay with you doesn't mean they can never leave your side... Maybe part of re-building the Grey Wardens required that they travel abroad to seek aid from someone. Or they are scouting the Deep Roads. Or spying on the dark spawn. Point being, there are lots of reasons why they would not be with you 24 hours a day for the rest of your lives.

Yes, this was my impression too, Alistair as king is the guy who gives you the task of taking down the new bad.
Two quotes: "I quite miss my darkspawn killing days..." and "You have a great task ahead of you".
Yes sire, sign me up!

Maybe a simple cutscene with each one at different stages of Awakenings, which the game skips if said companion was killed or left you during origins?

Typically expansions have less content than base games, yes.Pellegrin wrote...
So the expansion will feature less companions to choose from than the base game?

Well, an "old favorite" is mentioned, and the way it's mentioned makes me think this was not someone recruitable before. Jowan? Headless Duncan? (Joking, here, but go to the screenshots thread if you are wondering what the Headless Duncan thing is about...) Ser Cauthrien? We know Riordan is dead, I'm about 99% sure Duncan is dead. Maybe Ser Gilmore? Or Leske? Or the other dwarf guy? Well, I have no clue, but the only one that seems to have already been considered for making recruitable (that I know of) is Jowan. On the other hand, it would be unspeakably awesome to add Duncan to your party. Just sayin'.
I hope it is Shale....since she is literally the oldest member of the team(by a few centuries). Mainly because she is an awesome tank and I could listen her yell "Death to all pidgeons" all day and never get tired of it:)

Considering how hellbent Bioware seems to be about keeping this return character a mystery I highly doubt they let such an obvious slip-up occur. While I believe Oghren is one three possible returns if it does come from the past party, I seriously doubt Bioware would put him in the trailer if their objective is SURPRISE.
To the thought that they should bring more old companions back into the party then just one, I disagree. I do think a few need to be there in more of a side position, Alistair we know will be, I'd assume and hope if you went the romance path with Zev or Leliana they'd be there as well. With the length discussed I don't think they need to be a party member to still feel their influence and still continue building your relationships in some way. New companions will help freshen up the actual gameplay and combat side of DA as well as relationship and dialogue side, new friends, new conversations, new personalities, ect. At the same time I think a few can be brought back, make a few cameo appearances throughout and still feel as if they held a vital role in your journey and still feel as if your relationships grew or waned depending on how you play it out. That would be the best of both worlds I think.

I agree with your analysis. I, for one, will be glad just to have Zevran around, even if not as a playable companion.

As for the one old joining companion - I want Leliana!(as she is the only one who could stay with the player - maybe Zevran also but the others are out of the game)
From a purely speculative point of view, she makes the most sense. You are going to Orlais after all, and she was the only person in your party with an in depth knowledge of the country, culture and politics.
Of course, this is pure speculation, and should in no way be considered gospel until such time as the gods at BW deign to let us mere mortals in on the secrets.

To be honest, I'd rather pay more and get more game than pay $40 for 15 hours.
