From a purely speculative point of view, she makes the most sense. You are going to Orlais after all, and she was the only person in your party with an in depth knowledge of the country, culture and politics.

Of course, this is pure speculation, and should in no way be considered gospel until such time as the gods at BW deign to let us mere mortals in on the secrets.

If you don't imporent a character, you are a Warden Commander from Orlais, the new Origin is Orlaien (however it's spelled)

I'm a bit confused here.  If this is a separate game with a separate CD that you play separately from DAO, why is it called an "expansion pack"?  From previous experiences, I would think an expansion pack is a huge add-on you can download to the original game.

I have a feeling your dead character might also come back, just look at the title, the awakening. Tho that would take alot of thinknig on how to do it well and not stupid (like with Broken steel)

This is an expansion pack that harkens back to the old days of expansion packs, pre massive internet downloads.  Its going in a box and on store shelves.  This is very common with PC games.  Maybe not so much for Console games.

It's confirmed on page 6 that choices in Origins are reflected in Awakening. Seeing as how there are several hundred thousand, if not million, outcomes, it's simply not possible to portray them in a trailer.

This looks great, thank you Bioware for making a full-fledged expansion. My money is as good as yours for this product. Will we get to explore a bit of Orlais, and will there be any unique starting content to being an Orlesian, besides an origin logo in your pc page. Obviously it will be referenced throughout the game, but will it be given extra content in the beginning? Also can you bring in all of your old companions ontop of the new five?



Will Amaranthine be unique in terrain and environment compared to the rest of Ferelden?

 While I am excited for the expansion I am a little disappointed with only getting one old companion coming along. I mean in most my games I romance Leliana and in all those endings she said she was staying to go on more adventures. When i first heard about the expansion I thought awesome all my old companions (minus Morrigan) plus 5 new ones. Now I am disappointed with only getting one and it probably won't be one of my favorites.

My bet is either Leliana, Zeveran, or Oghren. Oghren makes most sense because in one of my play throughs Oghren became a general so it isn't far fetched that king Allistair would send that general along to oversee the mission.

Steam and EA's relationship is weird.  They usually don't announce the games for Steam until like two weeks before release.  Even right now Mass Effect 2 is not on Steam, but I doubt EA is ignoring that market.  In a few weeks it will probably mysteriously appear for preorder.

Yes, I was originally going to pre-order immediately, but then I remembered I had Steam.  I don't know if the expansion would work through a Steam copy(although the Mass Effect addon "Bring Down the Sky" worked, but that was different since it was a DLC).  So if anyone from Bioware could answer this, or even tell me when Steam will put it up for sale/pre-order, that would be great.

This is one of the hardest decisions of my life to make.

I've been following this game for like 7 years, since early talk and early artwork and screen shots. But now I work all the time and wanting to write my first novel.

I'm only on my second play through, many here on their 5th, 10th, 15th or so, who knows.

The problem is I don't feel I can keep up with you guys anymore. Some may feel 'so what, you don't need to, just have fun.' but I want to experience so much of it and feel pressed to do it in a time frame and concentrate on writing and thats not fun that way.

So I've been debating just getting the delayed DLC and not getting the expansion cause then later there will be another expansion and I'll want that to. And I'll never get to my book.

Its so hard to chose, cause the game is a good one and I hate not getting to use these new promised characters.

This part I honestly find very disappointing. The good part about most expansion in RPGs is that they also expand the content of the original games (like it happened with  the new classes in Neverwinter Nights 2 for instance). The fact that you can't play an orlesian grey warden in origin limits a lot the impact of the expansion to the original game, thus reducing the value of the expansion itself.
if you're still in time, I'd encourage you guys to reconsider this option. It would rase the value of the expansion and the replayability value of the original by quite a lot in one stroke, and less people would complain about the pricetag.

Reading the specs it is a expansion to the original story if you wish, or you may create a new main character if  you want.

Really? That doesn't seem odd or disappointing to anyone? I mean as Ferelden's we're not suppose to like them too much considering the 80 years of a flase ruler on the throne & all. Shouldn't the leader of the Grey Warden's be someone who doesn't suck. lol. Just throwing it out there!!!!
