What I wonder is whether the digital download version and boxed version will be the same? I mean, at times the game developers add some "goodies" into boxed versions (I mean in-game) which are not included in digital versions, which is weird considering that those who download the digital versions are, sort of, doing the "better" thing - developer saves money as needs not to spend it on creating packages and such, saves nature as no plastic boxes are made and so on. You'd think that this "greener" way should be actually rewarded, eh?
Just to clarify a bit here, the value of a game for the developer is fixed. It's about product sold, not delivery method. The publishers are the ones who gain a bit extra on the delivery mechanism in terms of not needing to produce another boxed copy in order to fulfill the order.
Saving nature and all that... meh. It's not really something that factors in here. It's a cute concept and all, and some people might promote their game on that account but really don't kid yourself. If a game sells, it sells. Doesn't matter what delivery is used.
On a side-note, bioware have been really really good about supplying those who purchase a digital copy with something extra, like for instance the Digital deluxe edition of DA:O that came with Warden's keep in the box, where those with a physical copy had to pay the 7$ for it. Just saying is all.
