Right! I haven't finished plucking Lelianas forbidden fruit. And Alistair makes me giggle.

I'm thinking that maybe, depending on your choices, that the one you romanced and maybe a best bud might be an option for our companions in the expantion. At least, I think that would be perrrty snazzy.

I'm excited for the expansion, but also a bit worried about the whole "one character" thing. If this is referring to someone who was not recruitable in the original game, then great! But it it means that only one person from the old party is coming back, that's a disappointment.

Especially if it's just one fixed character, like Oghren... he was a funny guy, but if I get to take only one person with me into the expansion then it had better let me choose Leliana.

It looks like a new standalone game in the same game universe and not a true expansion integrated in the current game. That's a bit disappointing, but I can live with that. :)

Ok, the big flaw in your logic? You assume that because you do not think the expansion is worth it, then that is the way it is. I'm sorry but to me forty dollars is a reasonable price to pay for 15 more hours of quality DA story. My opinion is no more or less valid than yours. If you do not think it is worth it, do not pay it. But saying that anyone who thinks it is worth it is some kind of fool is just downright idiotic.

Contradition is what you just posted. It can't be a ridiculous pircve if people are willing to pay it. Prcing is pretty arbitraly and is basically about supply and demand. If someone feels $40 is too high - don't buy it, and wait til it drops. THAT'S how one shows a price is ridiculous not byu whining about it or being a punk and stealing it (not saying that's you).

It reminds mke of the peons who whine about the theatre pricing being 'too high' yet continue to go. And, I've been hearing that particualr whine for as long back as I can remember. L0L

Well you can pay $40 & allow developers to continue to treat us like idiots thanks to people like you. I will not how ever. I reserved it at the price of $29.99 paid in full plus tax, so if they ask for more money I'll miss out on it. I'll also encourage everyone else not to buy it. I hope it gets pirated 2 million times over, not saying I would contribute but Bioware deserves it. It's your choice to encourage the raise in price, nothing justifies it. If they raise it to $40 I think all PC games should be $60 like MW2 otherwise it's just unfair to console gamers. If they raise all PC games to $60 I will gladly pay the extra $10 for the expansion since all idiots buying it for that price will make the new stanard price for PC $60 for games $40 for expansions.
So once again People fail to stand together & we lose. They save a lot of money on expansions & make a lot more profit. Voice acting was most likely done a long time ago they do not have to build a game or a world with its own set of rules. ALl they have to do is build a short campaign with the dialogue & toolset they already have then test for bugs as long as possible. So I guess I can thank you along with many for most likely raising the price. Thanks fools!!!
I may not like all the angry children that play MW2 but at least their community stood together. PC sales were terrible in comparison plus 4 million copies pirated.
So yes fool I am "whining" slash speaking my mind about an injustice against gamers but people are typically idiotic mindless sheep who go with the flow instead of asking questions or standing together example you. So thank you for proving idiots that fall in line easily exist, I wasnt' sure til now1!!!

The fact that you think you know what you're talking about is what makes this post so interesting, I think. Just because you think that you shouldn't have to pay for downloadable content means that it should be cheaper, or even free? Really? Grow up. Please. You're only making yourself look bad

AH yes i'm making myself look bad b/c I didn't take the time to clean up my post. Idiots allow change, idiots like the people responding to me. Please if the two of you know so much about developing games list all the games you have developed? Explain to me all the projects you have worked on & let me know why you feel the need to pay $40 instead of $30. One again idiots out number people who think for themselves.
instead of questioning why they would list it at $30 then change it you show off your knowledge of the developers world. So please all who responded list all the games you helped work on so I can find your first & last name in the credits.
Once again you prove my point, most people are pathetic, mindless fools who fall in line. Thanks for proving there is no point in having faith in anyone but family.
I understand how hard it is to think for yourself though.

Seriously? Do you also need to be an artist in order to know how art is made?

No, we're just responding like that because you are acting like you know what you are talking about, and not even in a mature way.

I've just decided that you have to be under ten years of age. That's the only explanation.

From everything I've read it is a true expansion. Requires the original game, can use your current character and it extends their story, or create a new one and begin their story. Not sure what else you were looking for.

"So yes fool I am "whining" slash speaking my mind about an injustice against gamers"

This. This makes me smile. The fact you speak about 'injustice' because a VIDEO GAME is x amount of dollars instead of y amount of dollars then in THE VERY SAME POST *encourage* theft just because you disagree with the pricing shows your ignorance of what justice actually is.

It's also hilarious how people attack others for being 'arrogant Amerikans' when I'm not even Amerikan.Stop being an ignorant bigot.

It's a video game. Its price is determined by supply and demand. If it's too high don't buy it. It's one of the many reasons why I don't go the theatre.

It's satisfyingly funny for someone to ACCUSE me of being a follower. HAHAHA!

Whenn it comes to purchasing games, I only follow my wants, despires, and expecations. Not anybody else.

btw, TOB was upwards of $50 when it first came out .... almost 10 years ago. Most, if not all, expansions I've bought have been 30+ dollars MINIMUM when first released so this isn't new.

The determining factor of whether or not I buy DA will be based on one person' thoughts - my own.

Period.

The wording of the announcement says that the new companions will be there to be ADDED to your band of adventurers, so I'd say it's highly  likely they will all be available.

No, some of the other articles said that there will be 6 party members, 5 new and 1 returning.

Lets not jump to conclusions until we have absolute final confirmation from bioware about each item. Nothing worse that unmet expectations getting in the way of enjoying a game.

thats mean that morrigan will return!!yay :o:O:O

you told morrigan to leave your party i feel insulted not really but she was my first romance then lelianna but i cant blame you morrigan can be b**** sometimes but yeaPosted ImagePosted Image

The press release states that you can either "import" your old character or start a new one. It also mentions that only one old companion returns. If it was a true expansion then there was no need to import your old character and all old companions would be available.

So the expansion will feature less companions to choose from than the base game?

Typically expansions have less content than base games, yes.

They don't remove content either. I can't remember any expansion where I had less characters to choose from...it's typical to see X from original plus Y from new the game.

If they take away content for the expansion I could see why. The end of Origins does have some loss. Morrigan takes off on you, as do some other characters. But according to the same story, some of those characters stay with you. And if all but one are removed for the expansion, then yes you are losing way too much content, which seems pointless. I'd rather start a new adventure with my current party as an expansion then have them bother trying to make likeable new characters and taking my current favorites away. >:c

I have to agree, I would have more feeling that this was a true expansion if it didn't seem like it was a new campaign, with new characters, happening as a sequel to what happened in Origins instead of..a continuation of your current adventures after Origins is over.

Really, they need to release some information on just how compatible the expansion packs will be with the end of our Origins games. If the companions that agreed to stay with us all disappear, then what other inconsistencies will there be? They say that our decisions in Origins will affect the expansion, but just how much if our decisions with our companions don't matter?

I think it's pretty safe to say that we all decided to kill the arch demon in our play-through. So technically, sure, our decision in Origin affected the expansion. As coy as it is to hide who's coming back and that type of thing, they need to tell us just what state our characters and relationships will be in when we start the new expansion.

Doesn't make any sense to me but ok. So to you Mask of the Betrayer wasn't a true expansion because your old companions weren't there?

They don't remove content either. I can't remember any expansion where I had less characters to choose from...it's typical to see X from original plus Y from new the game.

It's nowhere near as long as the base game either, Do we really need 9 companions for a 15-20 expansion pack? It just isn't practical.

Chances are, compatibility is not an issue. For all we know, the returning character is dependent on how your story ended. Sure, this is only speculation, but you never know.

This looks really good.  I'm surprised at how fast BioWare was able to get an expansion out (that's if it's not delayed).  I was wondering if there will be any pre-order bonuses or even the next part of Dragon Age Journeys available so we can get new items to add to the game from playing the flash game?
