I honestly hope its Morrigan :)

Would be good, but I can't help feeling that we're looking at an Alistair jobbie.

I reckon they'll save Morrigan for DA2

If you check out the trailer, it pretty much looks like Oghren is the one coming back. Thats if our hero hasnt found a new dwarf that looks just like him.

Oghren at 1.24

Also the way Alistair states that he misses the good ol' darkspawn killing probably excludes him from the ranks.

The terrible thing is how "involved" you can get with the relationships built on the game.  As much as I hate to admit it, I kind of miss the interaction after finishing the game......that's a sad thing to admit from a grown man with a family!

Heh.. got to love how the internet brings out the best in people.

But really, if the task is to rebuild the Wardens I don't really see a great need for the old characters. Beside Alistair none of them are Wardens or have any greater desire to join the Wardens.

Well, at least those who won't be available in the expansion pack and who will possibly be available in the sequel will have more time to improve in the hands of the developers ' u '

I mean, if they plan to make it a direct sequel. But we'll see~

Which saddens me, Leliana would be a great Warden, and I think she would survive the joining.

SPOILER
Heck, in one of the endings she even joins a group to track down Broodmothers and destroy them! How much for warden-y- can you get?

Okay, I admit I never really used her.  But she always seemed to be doing it from another perspective, from what I seen I don't think she would do well with the harder moral choices that you have to make at times.

But the thing is, if you keep reusing old characters things get stale. One of the things that DA:O is really good at, is how we get to experience the world from different angles. It would be a shame not to use that in an expansion, that's why I personally prefer the idea of the Orlasian Warden.

I really hope this is a mistake or they change there mind with the pricing.

If $40 for an expansion is too much for you maybe you shouldn't really be playing video games to begin with.

What does that even mean? Have you actually ever bought an expansion pack?
It's DOUBLE the price of the typical expansion pack and about the SAME price as a new full retail game with higher production costs as an expansion it will most likely share many assets.

I have bought MANY expansion packs since about 1999 (EQ) ..next question? :P

Also..the price isn't surprising ..when you think about voice actors and the quality game we have seen thus far.

Developpment costs money, people need to be paid......bottom line.

I want Duncan back :(

In RTO you will know what happened to him... i bet he is a prisioner of the darkspawn in the depp roads

depp roads? As in Johnny Depp? Posted Image

Anyway, I think that Duncan is dead. Either he was killed at Ostagar or followed the Calling and was slaughtered in the Deep Roads.

In the awakening they say that the dark spawn take prisioners, so maybe a later expansion or dlc, would be to save duncan from them...  it would be so badass

Duncan is dead. It's time to accept it and move on, bro.

Well my thought was..that darkspawn with the big axe..heading for Duncan in the cutscene....probably ended Duncan's life.

If by some odd chance that didn't happen..then perhaps he might have landed in the Deep Roads by choice.

Which isn't much different than Alistair. I always invision hardened Leliana (which is what I always do) being able to do it, not non-hardened Leliana. Should have specified, that was my bad.

More SPOILERS
Hardened leliana is the one that goes to track down the Broodmother, non-hardened goes to the Urn.
END SPOILERS

I wonder which one is the Architect?

Is it the tall skeletal figure wearing mage robes, or the talking darkspawn in heavy armor

I really hope its Morrigan<3:wub:

Morrigan and Oghren are the only 2 characters i can think of that you can a) not miss and B) won't leave no matter what you do (well Morrigan leaves around the end, but its not quite the same as the "you defiled andraste's ashes, i must kill myself by attacking you).

You can miss dog, but they might be leading RtO into the expansion with getting him again.

My thoughts on who is going to be the old favorite:

Dog: 1/2

Dog is a beloved character who, as long as you get, CANNOT LEAVE YOUR PARTY. Other characters leave on their own, or are able to be told to leave. Dog is not, AND there is upcoming DLC where you get another chance to get Dog. Dog is an easy candidate for inclusion, in my guess.

Leliana: 1/3

Leliana is good guess, because she's a talented character, with range and lock picking skills, plus she is romancable by both men and women, and is the "Statisistically likely" romanced character for male characters (Not a fact, but most people play as a hero statistically in role playing video games, and she is the heroic love interest, so while I am guessing here, it does have some inductive reasoning). She is well liked by a majority of fans, and in most of the endings, she stays with you.

Allistar: 1/2

Allistar is ALMOST a shoo-in, save for the... "role" he has at the end of most playthroughs. I highly doubt people will be allowing a person of Allistar's standing to go off on an adventure, but it is possible and he's seen a lot in the trailer. Still, there is a line that suggests he is not a party member, and if any character is on the sidelines form the old party, giving advice, it would make sense that it would be him, given the situation. This is kinda 50/50 here.

Morrigan: 0/1

Do to the nature of the ending, I do NOT think Morrigan would return in such an expansion. Her return will likely be much bigger than as just a party member. Her story is too big to be relegated to a side quest or side plot.

Sten: 1/20

Sten is possible, but unlikely, as he wishes to return to his people after the game is over.

Zevran: 1/30

Considering the many chances the player has of killing Zevran. I for one doubt Bioware will put too much work in reworking him for the sequel. It's a cost thing, considering how many people likely ended with him in the game.

Wynne: 1/20

Possible, but unlikely. MANY mages are seen in the trailer, and I doubt in her age, Wynne is going to become a Grey Warden, This is possible, but thematically, I just can't see it, especially compared to other characters.

Ogrhen: 1/4

I honestly would doubt this, but some people are adamant that they see Ogrhen in the trailer. As cool as he sometimes is, Ogrhen is not very high on the usage scale. Sure, everyone has their opinions, but I, nor the over 17 people I personally know who play this game (you can thank me later, Bioware, for getting 6 of them interested in the game myself) use Ogrhen. He is fun, sure, but compared to Allistar and Morrigan, he has no impact on the plot, other than being married to a character we intereact with (trying to avoid spoilers here). Also, compared to Leliana and Dog, he is not very popular to the boards here, as few people talk about him form what I;ve seen, Still, it would make sense, since Steve Blum, the VO, plays Irving the First Enchanter and all, that Bioware could get two characters to return, making it cost less moola to bring Ogrhen back.

Shale: 1/40

Doubtful. Shale is popular DLC, for sure, but the character was dropped from the original game, I doubt they will work hard to bring them back for the expansion. Plus, there are the countless people getting the game used or what not who will not have Shale. Still, in what could be called shady business, if you make it a requirement to have Shale to play the game, well, there's some money made for DLC, but some people will just plain not get the game in that case.

You Choose: 1/50

I like this idea, and there is some definitive logic behind it. It would make the game more impactful and emotionally... engrossing (seriously, if I hear that phrase one more time, I am going to punch a kid in his adam's apple. He will cry and be emotionally scarred, but I do not care), and it would make the replay value HUGE, I doubt Bioware will make the time and use the resources and spend the money for Voice Overs on SIX characters (not including Morrigan, who I believe will be absent, or Allistar, who I'm sure will be present, regardless, due to story reasons), just so one person can choose option A, while countless others choose another. Sure, it's a great idea, and there will be NO END to the amouont of complaining or arguing that would be avoided if this "choice" as some people suggest does indeed happen, but fiscally, I doubt it's feasible.

There, my opinon on the likelyhood of who will return. I vote for Dog and Allistar in the "probably" department, and Leliana as a good third possibility.

JUST MY THEORY, THIS IS NOT TO BE TAKEN AS GOSPEL....

My female PC and Ali are already planning on rebuilding the GWs together so it really fits plotwise. It would be nice if you could choose between Ali, Zev and Leliana.

Anyone know how this is going to play out?

Will this be a endgame add on say like Diablo LoD, or is this just a standalone game where we can just use old saves?

And what about a download version?

Sorry if it was mentioned up there but I didn't want to read to much in case of spoils.

P.S. Really hope it's not Morrigan, for some of us she isn't really that big a deal not having taken the offer and not romancing her, and as a villain she would just be annoying.
