Will Steam users be able to get this expansion?
The official details page (http://dragonage.bioware.com/awakening)says:
Available for pre-order now. Requires Dragon Age: Origins to play.
Digital and boxed versions available. Cannot be purchased with BioWare
points.
So while it doesn't say "Steam", it does say "Digital"...

For instance, what if a Human Noble Character became king alongside Anora whilst Alistair remained a Warden? How would you go from King to Warden Commander?
Or, if as another character, Alistair left and Loghain lived and Anora ruled alone, and how would he return to serve his part in the story?

I know this doesn't work on Borderlands, for example.

Hmm that IS interesting, however, i believe new info has stated that a new keep has been establish within the city of Amaranthine.. and man am I gonna hate trying to spell the name of the city in the coming months. How does Bioware come up with such odd names?
Amaranth is an imaginary flower that never fades.
Actually there is no fiction or "imaginary" in that herb. It is real and true plan: Amaranthus, collectively known as amaranth, is a cosmopolitan genus of herbs. Approximately 60 species are recognized, with inflorescences and foliage ranging from purple and red to gold. Members of this genus share many characteristics and uses with members of the closely related genus Celosia. Although several species are often considered weeds, people around the world value amaranths as leaf vegetables, cereals, and ornamentals. The word comes from the Greek amarantous (Αμάρανθος or Αμάραντος) the "one that does not wither," or the never-fading (flower). It is quite common in mystic, legends and lores also.
Enya, Nightwish have made a song (: ) from it (not only bands), Asop's Fables made poem in 6BC, John Milton "Paradise Lost" in 1667 it is mentioned as:
"Immortal amarant, a flower which once
In paradise, fast by the tree of life,
Began to bloom; but soon for man's offence
To heaven removed, where first it grew, there grows,
And flowers aloft, shading the fount of life,
And where the river of bliss through midst of heaven
Rolls o'er elysian flowers her amber stream:
With these that never fade the spirits elect
Bind their resplendent locks."
And many others. http://www.farmersba...om/amaranth.jpg + http://files.blossom...es/amaranth.jpg few pictures. And yeah, me and many others have used that name in multiple RPG chars also

No. We don't know that.
Alistair appears in cut scenes in the trailer.
That does not mean he is a full party member character for the expansion.
We do know it... it's pretty freakin cut and dry... your kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
A. Alistair is in no position to go adventuring
B. His dialog makes it sound like he may even be sending you on your mission
C. Oghren is seen as a party member
D. OGHREN IS SEEN AS A PARTY MEMBER!
Theres a chance that Oghren teams up with you only for a bit, but so far all signs point to dwarf.
Oghren was hands down my favorite character. Shockingly beating HK-47 in the laugh department (for me). But he wasn't a character many people used or got to know due to a variety of sensible reasons (often last to get, comes off as cliche at first, last character introduced, and pretty damn ugly). So maybe bioware wants to give him a real chance to shine.

If the expansion takes account of your previous actions, the one character has to be a character that lasts through all possible choices and actions.

I did not say he was playable, I said he was in it... why else show him in the trailer....even if it's only cutscenes he's still there....
maybe the old favorite....is YOUR old favorite...let us wait and see
I do am like 100 percent sure that that tevinter male mage is a new companion...

If I'm interpreting you English correctly, you CAN use your characters from DA:O in the expansion. The Orlesian Warden is for those who sacrficed themselves/want a fresh start.
