Amaranthine is a coastal town in the northeast part of Ferelden. It is an Arling ruled by the Arl of Amaranthine, that would be that Howe bastard...

I do so love watching the speculations fly. Nothing brings gamers together like the idea of quelling more darkspawn.

Now, we just need to keep the speculations from being seen as "fact" else we will have angry gamers swooping down upon us!

And we all know that swooping is bad..

Lol!  I think we don't have to worry much about angering gamers here,  all the fireworks are on the "delay" forum. It's so fun to watch them fly!

And I found this website: blastmagazine.com/the-magazine/gaming/gaming-news/2010/01/dragon-age-origins-first-expansion-awakening-announced/

Ah yes, the AOEs are flying in that thread indeed. I find it amusing considering it went from rather annoyed, then it went compleatly off topic, I believe many players ended up talking about the sexiest man dragon age? -shakes head- Of course, then many of the men latched on to one ladies comment about the women being far more appealing, a statement I agree with, but choose not to comment on..

And now some how its chaos. Really, battling the archdemon was cleaner buisness then what is going on in that thread.

Well, the town of Amaranthine is NNW of Denerim, on the coast. It's not marked on the map in-game, but if it is located on the large Thedas map available on the DA:O website as a wallpaper.

New specializations? Awesome.

I guess depending on how your game in Origins ended, will determine if you play as your Warden, or the Orlesian Warden.

I"m curious as to whether these "hyperintelligent Darkspawn" are related to the characters that we met in Dragon Age: Journeys.

[Spoilers] Like maybe the Architect it the Emissary that has his intelligence increased by the crystals that he wears[/Spoilers]

I'd Like to see more connections between DA:J and DA:O

The Calling book reveals quite a bit about the Architect

*SMALL THE CALLING SPOILERS*

It is an intelligent hurlock emissary. More intelligent than they normally are, I think. They reveal something about his intentions in the book but I won't spoil it here.

I will need more information before
I jump to conclusions (even though I really want to jump to them), but
I am not liking what I have read so far.  Sounds like this is a self
contained expansion (besides possibly moving in your character) that
costs $40 for an estimated 15 hours of gameplay (which means it will be
lower if you factor in that they over exaggerated the time for the Keep
DLC).  Considering that the full game of DAO has been on sale many many
times already for under $40, that price tag is ridiculous unless it's a
very long expansion.  Hopefully I'm wrong.

I agree, it seems a bit overpriced.

I really need to get around to reading that one, but with Mass Effect coming out soon...

I think it's safe to say  that the vast majority of my free time will be consumed by Bioware products of some kind for quite a while.

Wrong, end game will confirm who is running that town and it AIN'T Howe...

Give you a clue it is a group that has two words, the initials of which are G and W

Hmm that IS interesting, however, i believe new info has stated that a new keep has been establish within the city of Amaranthine.. and man am I gonna hate trying to spell the name of the city in the coming months. How does Bioware come up with such odd names?

The Architect was a MAJOR player in the prequel novel The Calling by David Gaider too. This is going to be a really cool story I bet :)

So in every ending Amaranthine is given to the Grey Wardens so they can now have a HQ, not sure what's happened to Soldier's Peak though.
