I personally can't wait for the xbox version since I can't play my pc version. Because I have to like upgrade my whole pc inorder to play! darn hardware issues also hope that previous items can be carried to expansion have spent a lot of time gathering them, but also can't wait to find new!!

also hope when you have to spend 6 hours trying to formulate summonings as in mage tower there are acheivements for them.

Is the ending where you persuade Alistair to marry Anora before the landsmeet (having hardened him), and then spare Loghain, yet Alistair still becomes king with Anora, a valid ending? Because if so, that's the ending I'm going to aim for (mainly so Loghain can redeem himself by defeating the Archdemon, and Alistair can still be king)

I hope this ending is valid for DA:O A, since I'd like to keep my character, have Alistair on the throne (Though he will no doubt despise his once best friend), without having to resort to the Dark Ritual

In the interview, they said the setting of the expansion can be mainly influenced by what you did in your original campaign.

provided you ended up in a romance with someone in your play, is it taken into consideration in Awakening or not ?

Nothing for sure. Melo stated there would be cameos and I don't see them ignoring what was a large part of your characters story so I assume there will be.

Also any clue about new max level ?

They haven't given a rock solid number, in the interview Melo stated mid to high 30's as a strong possibility.

If the level cap is in the mid to high 30's, then I assume that it'll be a fairly large game considering how long it takes between levels.

Couple questions/comments I have (didn't read through 50 pages of this thread, sorry):

Would be nice if the DLC's from Origins would be included with this, would make the price of this expansion MUCH more acceptable, to me personally at least.  Especially being one that doesn't "do" DLC, only retail.

Curious as to the length of this expansion?  If its a long expansion, close to the original, I'd pay the money no problem, but if its something short, I'll wait for an amazon sale or buy it used on ebay. 

Quite honestly, I am defaulting to used/sale mode at this point, unless I happen across more tangible info before release.

I whole-heartedly believe that the old favorite should be the player's decision. For one, not every character has the same party members. For instance, in my DAO story Zevran is dead, but Alistair is alive and not king. Thus, making the player choose their old companion would reinforce the power of decision and consequence that Dragon Age Origins tries to emphasize. And I also find it to be a really big disappointment if your character has a romantic relationship with Zev, Ali or Leliana and they can't even spend quality time with them because then it defeats the purpose of even claiming Dragon Age as an "emotional" game.

I am sorry to disappoint you, but David Gaider already stated in a different thread that this will not be possible due to economic reasons (which is pretty understandable imo), and the returning party members will not be an option of choice by players but that they choose one to return and we'll have to live with their choice. Again, given the effort and fincial issues of producing 8 different dialogues, animations and possible personal quests where only one is used, a more than understandable and reasonable decision

I am absolutely stoked that an expansion has already been announced. I picked the game up over the holidays, and was able to finish my first playthrough about a week ago. I plan on going through the game a couple more times in order to have at least one character I'd be willing to run through the expansion regardless of who the companion is from the first game. I'll also run through as the Orlesian Grey Warden just to see what changes in regards to the story.



Bioware has never let me down in regards to making characters that I genuinely feel for, so I can't wait to see who we get to meet in Awakening.

Wouldn't be fair to the people who bought the DLC simply two months before the expansion comes out though would it? If you step back and look at just how ambitious and the assumed length based off of Melo's interview, I think you'll find the price more the reasonable.

It looks like something between 30-40 hours if the leveling system is paced the same as the OC. It's safe to assume they're expecting you to gain around 15 levels based off of that interview.

Obviously the closer they get to release and the more things they finalize the more information they'll release. Right now they're still doing a lot of tweaking apparently which is why there is such a lack of information at the moment.

Well, they said that they were 'keeping the new char under wraps' in the newest interview. And given that we've already seen Alistar as King, and that he'll probably be too busy to be in an actual party given his new function, I pretty much excluded him.

No chance with Morrigan, unless it's something small and simple. Who appears obviously depends on the choices you made in Origins, the only guaranteed everytime I think is Oghren. I believe Alistair, Leliana, and Zev are also strong candidates due to the fact that the majority of their epilogues keep them in Fereldan doing something without any mysterious disappearance. Obviously their appearance would depend on your choices made with them in Origins. Everyone else is long gone, maybe a mention but I doubt anything else.

Giving Morrigan ending, how can i say that without spoiling, that was surprising and sounded to be quite final, i would expect that her reappearance would be something you as a player would not see coming (through an announcement for an example, but also in game), but rather something that comes a big surprise you did not expect at that moment.
So my guess is, when she returns now or in a later expansion (really hoping that she will return, and hoping she will return sooner than later), she will not be announced before but just surprisingly appear throughout the game
