The price and how soon this is coming out really worries me as to how long this expansion will be.... I wouldn't mind if it wasn't as long as teh original game, but the fact that we're getting new party members... it would really bug me if I couldn't go as in depth with them. Also if i'm getting new party members, I would expect some of these will be in say DA:O 2 along with some of the originals... so if their story is only from one short expansion, that'd be very disappointing...

But for now I shall hope for the best, just a bit worried. Also I wanted to say dog would be the returning party member, but after watching the trailer, i'm extremely uncertain.

  The time frame shouldn't worry you b/c the PC version was about finished months before they made the decision to delay it in order to release all platforms of the game simultaneously. So one team had time to work on the expansion, do some script & what not...all that fun stuff Devs do then switch it over to consoles & we have an expansion. I mean 4 months after release isn't bad timing considering they plan a 2 year window. So I am sure they plan 2 if not 3 expansions or just very large DLC.
   Obviously it's not all as simple as I made it sound but my point is they've had time & been planning for years plus its Bioware so I assure you unlike previous DLC this expansion will hold lots of quality. Plus if you haven't read the IGN.com article yet a Bioware rep was quoted saying we'll be able to level to mid or high 30's. So do the math there & we have a lot of gameplay ahead of us!!!

Economically speaking, the dog is the most likely choice. It's not terribly long-winded. And (SPOILER), despite the progressive nature of the game, there isn't a romance option for the canine yet.

It's not going to be Alistair because he might (SPOILER) be king, or drunk, or dead. And if he were the companion, they would have to take into account how his sidequest turned out, at least a little. Too many complexities.

You can kill the dog though.

I'm guessing Oghren, because he cant die. Neither can Morrigan, but I hate her, so I hope she isn't the returning party member.

OK i have been reading this and getting myself all excited about the possibility of Morrigan coming back only to decide that she probably wont, at least not for the main Awakening story. However I would be very annoyed if she wasn't in it at all as I haven't been this attached to a character since Jaheira from BG...



Scenario I would be happy with....



Trawl through the new game, hey get to fight some other cool monsters, find out about other new characters (though tbh I'd be happier if it was just a straightforward continuation of DAO) and then right at the end who should appear to save your ass yet again with some mean freak of a child by her side. That way you wouldn't have to have romanced/even like her and the rest of us who miss her will be quite simply overjoyed.... (DAO2 Morrigans story....XD)

I *thought* the release date was world wide but only the price in the UK was left unknown. Hang on.....

Is it sad that with two months until this expansion is out, I am basing what choices I make and how my relationships develop in my current play through, based on the fact that there is an expansion?



tsk, I really shouldnt, considering that I can blow through the main quests pretty fast if I dont take my time to explore or bother with relationship building or the like. But at last, the game is always just too good to put down..

Sure, but that also means you will have to fight the archdemon with three naked companions.

Can't be that hard, can it?  Just strip them before the killing blow is dealt.

 Plus even without a million pots it is easy to solo the archdemon. just summon the mages they'll kill all the badies around while you work on the archdemon!!!!

I found, that if you have either warden's keep or stone prisoner you can load your game AFTER you beat the game. Which was awesome as I was able to strip all of my party members of their armor and weapons and the like, and get stuff from my storage chest.

Ii has a few questions?.
Is this true you might be able to use one old member i read this somewhere Shale has to be available as we payed for him!?
Also what happens if PC has married Alistair or sacrifices him?
What happens if you don't kill Loghain?

I'm ok with downloading DLC like extra quests, but I'd prefer to have a material copy of a whole expansion.

ok so i heard that u can import ur origins char into awakening (cool) so i got 2 saves one where i do it morrigan and dont die and one where i kill the arch daemon and die. so if i chose the one that i have died with can i still continue in awakening with him? (i mean does he come back to life or anything?)

If your char is dead then you will play as a Grey warden from Orlais. Still, the choices you made in DA:O will be reflected in Awakening.

Stupid question I am about to ask: Is there a pre order bonus with the expansion or you just paid for it before hand. I really do hope they put more romance plots with the expansion. Hope they have spears. . . sigh.

At this rate March 2010 might mean January 2011, or at least that's how it looks with return to ostagar and a fix for the memory leak issue.

There's absolutely no way I'm paying full price for this. Even if I have to wait until it drops in price 10-15$ and play Modern Warfare 2 for a few weeks, there is NO WAY I'm buying an "expansion pack" less than two months after the actual game was released, and BEFORE the bugs in the PS3 version are addressed. I'm sure Bioware has put a ton of work and effort into the xpac, and I'm sure it will have a killer story and provide a thoroughly enjoyable experience for the systems it works well on. Still, this feels very much like shamelessly trying to milk Dragon Age's popularity before the money train pulls out of the station.



The version that I played - PS3 - was so plagued with bugs and glitches that at times it's almost unplayable. On the Technical Support forums, help from actual Bioware employees is sporadic at best, and there's been no word of a patch. Yet, they can sink what I would imagine are millions of dollars into episodic content and the associated marketing?



It's very sad; I had much higher expectations for a game of this magnitude from Bioware.

On a more legit note, will I be able to buy this in-store? Physical CD/DVD? Because I'm not a fan of DLC that can't be backed up on a disk.

Edit:  Nevermind.  Gamespot link on the first page of the thread shows hard copies are for sale.  Oops and Yay!

  They announced it would be for digital retail so if Steam can get it I do not see why XBL couldn't as a game add-on but that is just my opinion nothing official yet so we can just wait & see!!

I hope so, easier for me to download it through PS3 than have to worru about picking it up and possibly not getting it in store.
