I think the returning characters will be:

Dog
Leliana
Zevran

Perhaps Shale as well, but you will end up having as many choices as in the original with 5 new characters.

I don't think you get to choose which one the "returning character" will be, my understanding of what was written is that only one of the party members from the first game will be available for use in your party in the expansion.

Wow, I dreamed for it since I beat the game for first time.

Excellent news. From now on, I dont care about RtO.

***Spoliers***

I hope we can see Alistair on the throne to check how he's handling the king business in this expansion, and i knew from the start it will be a fine investment to not sacrifice my character. Thank you Morrigan .

i think shaleshould be recruitable to, since many people paid for it...

but anyhow am indeed exited though it will cost 60 dollars here, and it probably will be released in December...

EDIT: spoiler:
in one of the endings Leliana would join you and the rest of the grey wardens to rebuild the order....
I remember even though Zevran said he would come too, he was not mentioned in the endin...thought itwas bugged, might be not so?

For some reason (mostly EA is cruel and unusual) and the announcement of the RtO delay with no reason I fully expect RtO to be either part of the opening story of awakening or delayed long enough that they can include a coupon in the box ala Shale for a free dload of it released the same day...

Apart from that so psyched. I should just about finish up ME by the time ME2 is out and then ME2 in time for a run through of Origins to prep for the expansion

It depends, I might have been sucked through a Mass Relay before this comes out. Either that or clinging on to whatever realms of the game 'Real Life' has to offer until I am sucked into the Star Wars universe once more.

Or maybe I'll still be enjoying my vacation in Ferelden and so yes will have this installed into my 'Avatar' machine so I can see Amaranthine on my map for me to go to.

As Liz Lemon would say...

I want to go to there

15 hours for 40$ is insane,no matter how you look at it. <_<

The original costed me 54$ and they are charging close to 75% of that price for an expansion.Combine that expansion with Return to Ostagar and the Warden's keep and what do you get? 40$+5$+7$=52$.

Within 5-6 months of release,Bioware will give you about half the content of the original for the same price. It's even worse than Bethesda tactics with Fallout 3 DLC.

Hm, sounds good. Though that said, it's charging full game price and is rumoured to only be around 15 hours of new content. Worrying.

It'll be interesting to see how this turns out. Could be the first worthwhile expansion since The Shivering Isles.

This will be sweet. No doubt about it. Though I have no interest in Qunari (aren't they from Amaranthine?), it'll be nice to see the Architect in-game.

They had me at "Dra."

I am pretty sure the old companion is dog. I mean, RtO even offers the 5 people worldwide that failed to recruit dog a second chance to recruit him.

All other party members have different endings in the epilogue; dog is the only one who remains the same, that is by the Warden, in all endings i know. Not that dog is my most favorite character that i need to see back or that i would object if it is someone else, on the contrary, he is just the most realistic choice imo.

Yay, I can finally talk about what I've been working away at. :)

Some random answers to questions brought up (obviously I can't answer everything):

* Choices in Origins definitely are recognized in the expansion.

* You do import all of your gear from Origins, but not from the chest in Soldier's Peak. But you can always pull out what you like, save, then import that save.

* You can't play an Orlesian Grey Warden in Origins.

* Amaranthine is indeed the coastal arling that once belonged to Rendon Howe. And, of course, everyone will speak with a Jamaican accent. OK, maybe that last part isn't true. :)

It would make sense for the dog to remain with the Warden. And the Orlesian Warden could be given a dog as a gift since it is a symbol of Ferelden.

I wonder if people will react differently to you depending on whether you are the Ferelden hero who fought the Blight. Or a foreigner from Orlais given a senior position.

Will there be different variations of weapons and armor?

Robes for mages, light armor etc?

Ooh i guess I shouldn't redo my old saves, I'm interested to see how the differences affect the expansion. But I'm like SarEnyaDor said about herself, I'm so addicted to Dragon Age I'm planning on buying any books, worthwhile dlc/expansions, and the comic books that come out.

Just one thing i dont get it, i read it puts you on the role of a grey warden commander, how will this be adressed for the ppl who choose not to stay in the order after the ending of DA:O ? i know were bound to be grey wardens until we die but the multiple ends clearly had the option of pretty much not giving a crap about the rebuild of the ferelden grey wardens.

And i realy hope we get a real good interaccion between our char and the NPCs we know, this option to start a orlesian grey warden is giving me the chills, i hope they dont pull a mass effect 2 where all the original characters are pretty much put on hold.

I highly doubt it will be released in march tough, they cant even launch a DLC .

Whilst I generally agree that he is the obvious choice, specially as human nobles as far as I recall cannot avoid him? I don't think he is marked into the equation, specially as far as epilogue/endings go he isn't mentioned.

It seems to be confirmed that part of the canon ending is that the PC becomes the Warden Commander of Ferelden, far as I recall there are only 4 others that stick with you in this concept. 2 of them are really 1 choice, the other 2 are possible romance interests and no one of them isn't the apostate.

I am only going to play the expansion on the character/s that chose the 'Grey Warden' or 'Adventures' possible ending or play as the Orlesian Warden if my character didn't make it to the end. The rest that survived that didn't choose one of those endings as far as I am concerned don't exist in the canon world. They are just my own creations with my own parralel verse which I have ideas of what they went on to do.

Edit: Mr Baudoin can you confirm what choices are carried over and what if anything is set in canon? (other than the Warden becoming the Warden Commander of Ferelden)

Awesome!

The biggest question, and probably the one you really aren't allowed to answer yet, is "which party member from Origins returns in Awakening".... I'm betting that info is reserved for the publicity campaign leading up to the release... ;-) :-)

If $40 for an expansion is too much for you maybe you shouldn't really be playing video games to begin with.
