I'm just a little annoyed. I really liked my DA:O character. I mean, I think that Creiden Amell was a pretty cool guy. Eh killed Darkspawn and doesn't afraid of anything. The problem is that he seems to be very, very, dead at the moment.
The most painful thing was that Alistair was with me at the time, this is exactly how our conversation went.
Alistair: "I'll do it! I want to."
Me: "Are you certain about this?"
Alistair: "No!...I mean, yes!"
Me: (literally the exact thought going through my head) "yeah...I can't let you do this."
Therefore, for a series of choices in which I refused to father a freaky evil god-thing, and then proceeded to refuse to let my Grey Warden friend take the blow for me, I have been punished. For being a good person. And the implicatons of said punishment was not made especially obvious until the expansion pack was announced. This is Fable II all over again!
But for serious. I'm not actually that pissed about it. Just a little annoyed. I just want to know for sure: Am I going to play a Frenchie, or is there going to be some kind of (extremely convenient) revival thing? I think that Bioware could actually make that work, see: Wynne's backstory.

I don't see why there's all this speculation about who the "returning character" is, when said "returning character" appeared in the trailer. Of course it's Alistair.

I'm willing to do it, it's a nice change of pace, but they BETTER not shut up about the noble sacrifice of my previous character.

There are probably two cannon endings, actually, since you can import a character from a save file that isn't complete. The second one is probably either you or Alistair being Morrigan's baby-daddy, since that lets you both be alive.
So cannon ending without save file = Ultimate Sacrifice
Cannon ending with save file = Tevinter God Daddy

About your little revival thing, i don't think a good Spirit from the Fade would have the power to revive somebody that had the soul of an Old God in them (I'm just sayin')

The didn't say just "returning character" they said "an old favorite" Alistair and Oghren are not my favorites. I read, or heard, somewhere that Bioware was able to gather information from achievements of Mass Effect to tell them about who the players chose to have in their party most, what their most used class was, weapons and stuff like that. It was Casey Hudson if i can recall correctly. What if they did this in Dragon Age to determine who the "old favorite" character will be in the expansion, making it different for each player? Just a thought.
it was sayed a duzen times, budget is to small to have a luxury of choosing character that comes back... only one character and it was choosen already it is Oghren... deal with it...

A good spirit from the Fade is as powerful as Bioware damn well says it is. (Trust me, I'm a DM. I have experience with things being as powerful as you damn well say they are.) If they want it to, it can chop the soul up, remove the fat and the grease, and cook it as good as new. They've never quite SAID that that would be difficult, have they? Nor have they ever confirmed just how powerful these spirits are. They wouldn't be pulling a Blizzard (I know the lore says this, but it would be really cool if we did this) if they made that happen. It might even be cool.
I get what you mean, but just going back to the game, the spirit isnt doing too well just keeping an old lady alive, so think about it that way

While i agree with you about the first part I do not agree about oghren being the one returning he is by no means the most popular companion he's far from it. Someone told me that in a poll he gathered three percent of the most popular companion. So i have my doubts about him being the returning companion since he's only the favorite of 3%..essens wrote...

Yes, but Necromancers are all about the mindless zombie craze. They're not into bringing back things that have the possibility of A: thinking and B: not serving them. As for the good spirit, Wynne survived across an entire campaign that looks to be far longer than this expansion pack and possibly another combined. Oh, yeah, and after the end, she still isn't dead. I'm guessing you'd be pretty good once the spirit brought you back. Not permanently, of course, but long enough for the game's purposes.
