Hmm... I find it a difficult thought to continue without my favorite characters from Origins. Bioware has the bar set high for the new characters, that's for sure.
Heh, I'm sure Bioware will blow us away with these companions as well and when the next title comes out we'll all be complaining about how they're not bringing back any of the companions from Awakening. Honestly so long as they bring them back as NPC's, give them a part in the story and have a fair amount of interactions I'd be just as happy as if they had brought them back as full companions. I've got no problem with fresh faces and stories, so long as the old stories and faces aren't completely forgotten and ignored.

My thoughts exactly.
It just proves that Bioware did such a great job with the first set of companions.
These new guys should be just fine, I just wanna know how they explain their mass amounts of power, like if they join you at level 25, are they going to be just as powerful?
New mage recruit has a power level of over 9000 even as you recruit him

1. Excitement: Woo, expansion, more adventures with Zevran!
2. Fear: What, Zevran might not be a playable companion?
3. Anger: Zevran better be a playable companion!
4. Acceptance: Well, I liked Oghren alright, and the clues do really seem to point to him, so long as Zevran is around somewhere or waiting for me when I get back...
5. Thinking too much: You know what would be cool, is if it was Loghain. I never really got to play with him (I just couldn't do Alistair like that, I tried once but felt so guilty about it I went back to a previous save), but he is a great character. I would rank him as a favorite, just not in the way most people think of favorites. It would be completely unexpected and while I won't blanket it and say everyone would feel the same, if you're steering clear of the trouble that choosing 1 of the 4 romance options will cause (who doesn't like to stir the pot, but I think it would turn more people off the game by slighting the 75% who like the 3 not chosen - and yes, I know Alistair has more fans than Zevran but I'm doing easy math), Loghain - ressurected in some form or still alive - would be a real treat.

No dev has stated this wont happen, it just wont happen in the awakening. So my only request here is they dont start mass killing previous characters with this expansion in cameos/codex.

I Will Just Tell You This: Did You See Alistar Fighting or Just Talking? And Did You See Oghren Talking Or Fighting?
And i don't ignore anything... i just see facts which you don't see. Also if there would be more choises then Oghren then whats the points of say'ng that theres gowing to be 1 play'abe character from the origins....
maybe i am wrong who knows... but i think the chances are really few.
Oghren can remain as a General of the army if you didn't do his personal quest so it's entirely possible for him to appear as an NPC that doesn't join you just like Alistair appears if you made him king.
if you would'eve watched my screens you would see Oghren fighting besides The Hero(player)

sooooooo......what? That doesn't by any means guarantee he is a party member. Would keep the assumptions to a minimum? If he is a general like he would be for the default story(ie no im[proted save where you did his quest) then there are 99.99% chances for you to see him as an NPC without him having to join you and since he has duties and responsibilities that come with the job(like Alistair) then the chances are that he may not be able to go with you....especially if he needs to mobilize defenses against the constant darkspawn attacks detailed in the game's epilogue. He would probably be the one to come tell you about the talking darkspawn that shows up.
There are too many explanations for him to be there and none guarantees or provides ANY proof that he is the one that he is the returning party member.

Those of you who are claiming that just because the character is in the trailer then that means they will be the companion that BioWare has chose for us, you are slightly annoying me. Again, not trying to be mean. BioWare has made it obvious that this one old companion is a surprise so why would they give it away easily in the trailer? They wouldn't.
I have finally come to terms with the fact that my favorite old companion might not be returning in the expansion. For the first two days I was really upset and actually stressing about who it could possibly be because I want to keep Alistair. Everyone wants to keep their favorites but there is nothing we can do about it. Yes, I know it sucks but **** happens and it is just a game. (I cannot believe I just said that...this game was like an alternate life for me as pathetic as that sounds.) Either way, I just want to play the expansion and meet the new characters that they are offering us. I read the interview IGN had and they are highly confident in their new characters so I am actually excited about who they are now.

It was stated in an interview that Origins is essentially over when you start up Awakening. This does not mean that your old saves will no longer work, but I believe it means that you cannot travel outside of Awakening's overworld.

That doesnt mean you will not be able to revisit old locations. But so far i see no reason to go back to orzammar. Denerim is more likely if there's a reason to go there.Bryy_Miller wrote...

I wouldn't try to take any power from her. At best I may want to become an actual king rather than just prince-consort but not if it means removing her from power. Anora has nothing to fear from me. Though it appears that the power hungry punks may get a chance to act against the rightfull ruler(Anora) in Awakening because the nobles all come to seek aid from the warden which essentially means they all look at you for leadership and will praise you too much after stopping the darkspawn and whatever evil drives them....they may even put up with a worthless power grab. I seriously hope not. Without Anora on the throne Ferelden is doomed.

This could be interesting with my rather power hungry human noble king/consort and the already defined power struggle between the two of them... interesting indeed.
