LOL, ok, I guess since it says (Possible Spoilers) in the title of this thread, that I'm ok at explaining this:

Gorim is a merchant, yes, but there is a background reason for that if you play a dwarf noble origin. That's why I expect him to be available to me in the expansion. :)

If the door is left open enough for the Origins Warden plus the origins companions. Theres no reason they cannot appear in future expansion or sequel. Atleast that is something to hope for.

No dev has stated this wont happen, it just wont happen in the awakening. So my only request here is they dont start mass killing previous characters with this expansion in cameos/codex.

Has any dev stated that this won't happen in Awakening?

They have stated only the Orgins Warden and "one" companion will appear in the awakening on first page of this thread aswell some cameo appearances for other characters.

I was refering to multiple (All) Origin companions returning. Which wont happen in the awakening but may happen down the road. No dev has ruled out this possibly, just because it was ruled out for this expansion does not mean it cannot happen in DA2 or future expansions, aswell DLC stories.

Yeah, they might have but every time I try to read that wall-o-text in the first post, my eyes start to glaze over and I get bleary-eyed.

I hope by the "one" companion that'll include Gorim. :D

Not likely he's only a companion for one origin and he's temporary as it is. But don't give your hopes up he might still have a cameo.

I never read walls of text posts either, chances are you can say or state your main points in far less words. After all its just a forum. Short and to the point works for me. Image IPB

*SPOILER*

Well, in the final scene Gorim does say that he is your second once again. So, if that is the case, then if I play my dwarf noble character, I expect to see him. Nothing wrong with that assumption, right?

Shadeling: Yes likely as a cameo appearance but him being the secret companion I really doubt. I read about him on the wiki and it says he's married and is expecting a child so i doubt he will want to join in those conditions. Just don't get your hope's to high they can come crashing down like an avalanche.

Yeah,  that's what he says when he first meets up with your char again right when you meet him in Denerim. But then, in the aftermath , he says that you and he are welcomed back with the dwarves. I really wish they hadn't done that switcheroo with the story. If he says he's my second at the end of the game, then dammit, he's my second! regardless of family (which I assumed were killed in the battle over Denerim.)

Anyway, all I'm going by is what I saw in my chars end game. Gorim was there, and I expect Gorim to be there for the expansion.

Did i miss something?? I don't remember Duncan getting killed...i remember an ax hitting him. I believe he is still alive and we will not find any evidence of him...hence the returning character in in the expansion

Yeah the Architect is at work so they probably salvaged him and turned him into darkspawn duncan....the way he did to a few wardens  in The Calling.

I wouldn't expect him to be very friendly though. I doubt the Wardens mean anything to him any longer.

Duncan had collapsed, barely being able to keep himself from completely lying on the floor, and we see from a first-person perspective a darkspawn's axe being swung down at his head. Yes, Duncan is definitely alive even after having an axe stuck in his skull, despite him barely having any energy left and being completely surrounded by Darkspawn who want to rip him to pieces. It makes perfect sense.

Hmm... I find it a difficult thought to continue without my favorite characters from Origins. Bioware has the bar set high for the new characters, that's for sure.

IMHO, Hopefully the game creators will do the smart thing (the only thing I can see making everyone happy anyway) and allow you to continue your game with whoever you ended the game with (be it Alistair, or Zevran, or Leliana, or whoever). It seems kinda odd to have gone through all the work of completing Origins how you wanted it to end only to have it tossed aside as though it doesn't matter so the creators can have their own way with the ending so to speak.

Also I very much doubt Morrigan with be playable a few months after the end of Origins seeing as how in most endings she will be pregnant, but somehow I'm like 99.9% certain we will be ruinning into her at some point in the game.

The Architect salvaged extremely badly hurt wardens in The Calling. We don't know if that axe connected or the damage it did. There is deffinitely room for Duncan to have been kept alive by the Architect......I'd even call it a high probability......the book The Calling should tell you more about what the Architect does with Gray Wardens.

I don't know if I should feel angered by this spoiler-ish statement or exited that it could end up being true :pinched:

 Question:

What about our DLC? Will we still be able to use Shale, return to Fereldon and finish up any sidequests we missed there? Or will the Awakening be a standalone expansion? Meaning the only thing carried over is your character and the story?

I will be sorely dissapointed in Bioware if they decided to scrap all DLC from Origins for the Awakening.

That wont happen at this point, the expansion is probably half finshed, details have been confirmed.
Besides David Gaider has said theres no budget for it.

I disagree with his point, hiring 5 new voice actor/actresses for the new companions aswell modeling them into Dragon Age when old models exist for old companions doesnt make sense.
But there you go^

sorry i don't post much...but i can clearly see the king killed. Now we collect his belonging...not Duncan. i can see a cut seen of a random arrow getting that darkspawn...or as poster said the architect intervening...reconnecting with old ties from the books

It because a lot of the existing companions could be dead or not recruited in various people's games....

Since they're trying to continue it on, it wouldn't be economically viable to put a lot of effort into continuing companions that some people might not even see because that companion died in the original game

Ignorant people like you are very easy to find on this forum. You know, people also said that you wouldn't be able to import your character because bioware isn't going to add that ME similar feature to the game since it would take so much time. Yet, when the announcement came, we found out that you CAN import your character. Even after so many times i showed articles where developers said they would be using this feature, people, like you, just ignored. You sound as if your working in the industry, or with Bioware to be exact. Just because Oghren and Alistair were in there doesn't mean there the only two. What happens if alistair died in your playthrough? Think he'll be in there? No. That ONE trailer they showed just showed the gameplay from ONE perspective. You expect them to post multiple trailers with multiple outcomes? I don't think so. But don't go around acting like you know for sure that Oghren is the returning character. Because the other idiots "knew" for sure that you couldn't import your character, and they were proven wrong. Don't act as they did. I'm pretty sure Oghren isn't going to be the "old favorite" in my playthrough, because i didn't like him. And it'd be false advertising for Bioware to say that you get an old favorite, and it be someone you never liked. Thats where the info from Achievements come in. Thats one way they could determine who your most used companion was. I'm not saying on that is 100% right - but im pretty sure they have a way to determine who your "old favorite" is and have them in the expansion pack.

I Will Just Tell You This:  Did You See Alistar Fighting or Just Talking? And Did You See Oghren Talking Or Fighting?
And i don't ignore anything... i just see facts which you don't see.
Also if there would be more choises then Oghren then whats the points of say'ng that theres gowing to be 1 play'abe character from the origins....

maybe i am wrong who knows... but i think the chances are really few.

There is only 1 characer from Origins. In the trailer, it showed Oghren. That was probably because he was the most used companion, or some other factor. The way the announced the character from Origins as being an "old favorite" shows that it will probably be variable to how the player played, and who they chose to be in the party more. If Oghren was the only character choice from Origins to come back, then they can't say an "old favorite" because he is not everyones favorite. Do you see where i'm going with this?

Ah but Torias.. it makes no sense in my game that Leliana/Morrigan/Shale wont exist in the expansion as a party. When I had them in archdemon battle.

Both these methods have postives/negatives?.

@EJon It must be Duncan then!

On a more serious note though, Alistair is also shown in the trailer, so that's two characters from the original DA, and it completely nullifies the theory that 'Oghren must be the companion because he's the only one shown in the trailer!'

I have my fingers crossed for Shale, though I know it's never going to happen.
