Alright about the companions being npcs why would they be in Amaranthine?

Maybe to visit their friend , or lend a helping hand. Something of that sort.

If it's a companion you romanced I'd assume that is self explanatory. Leliana and Zev (One or both, depending on who you romanced) generally stick around Fereldan and are near the Grey Warden in most of their epilogues, Oghren always hangs around in Fereldan no matter what you do. Alistair, well one of his position would no doubt maintain a close relation constantly with the senior Grey Warden, past bond obviously strengthening that relationship. Assuming of course he's not dead or drunk.

The others you won't see, either dead or a long ways off with no hint of returning.

maybe they get kidnapped and you have to rescue them! (damn... that's actually a good one... ;-) ).

Darkspawn kidnap? Hmm, Leliana turned into a Broodmother, now that would be a plot twister. Might cause a few riots up at the Bioware studios though, hmmm.

Besides they say that the expansion is set in Amaranthine. Doesn't mean you can't still go to Denerim. Denerim is not that far from the Amaranthine area.

"Old Favorite" is such a broad term, it could be anybody, as I recall, no companion is universally hated. The ones that are less likely to be are Morrigan (gone, I think we'll see her in a possible sequel, if at all) and Sten (gone back with the qun and I don't think he'll come back unless the qunari start a war or something).

Also the endings in origins are kept vague enough to give room to the writers, if you choose leliana for example, it says something along the lines of: "you and her traveled for a time". How much time? well the time it takes for Awakening to start...

In my eyes the trailer makes it pretty clear that its Oghren, but speculations and conspiracy theories it's the only fun thing we can do while we wait ;)

More than likely the qunari will start a war.

will we be able to visit denerim, or say orzamarr? i would like to see my dwarf paragon statue and status..=)

Nothing known on that as of yet.

It was stated in an interview that Origins is essentially over when you start up Awakening. This does not mean that your old saves will no longer work, but I believe it means that you cannot travel outside of Awakening's overworld.

well if thats the case whats the point in allowing save games at all? just so you can ehar about what you did? itd not realy a coninuation if you can't go and see whats happened sense you defeated the blight.

I wouldn't mind if it was Oghren but I just don't understand how everyone is so certain it is him just b/c he is in a couple scenes. I mean Bioware made it seem like a big deal who the secret "old favorite" character will be but even though "old favorite" is a very broad term you think the companion would half to me Alistair, Loghain, or Morrigan. I mean Morrigan is like their flag girl for this game, Alistair can be Kind & is the heir to the throne, Loghain is awesome! lol

I see so many people said that Morrigan's son will be darkspawn boss thingy, i says its impossible beacuse this expanison will take its place four months after Archdemon died and darkspawn retreated., i dont see its possible that human have such capablity to reproduce its own baby this fast.

This darkspawn talking, not that weird golden ribs with head of macade, looks like hybird, its possible he could be added as ally and i think his purpose is unite darkspawn with races of therelden. Im not too sure, i could be wrong

Dunno if it was addressed already, but I am hoping for that they use the same kind of set up as mass effect for what happens in the expansion. Meaning the return party members will reflect your decisions in the game and what happened for the ending. I think that would be awesome.

I've played expansion's before like Nwn 2 mask of the betrayer. However, I've never played an expansion or game (ME 2 not out yet) on the console version that allowed one to import there character, and since I play DA: origins on the console(xbox 360) my questions are:

*As a side note I don't recall what happened to my loot in the Nwn2 expansion that was so long ago, oh Neeshka.

1) will I get to keep the money I have acquired for my main character when it is imported to the new campaign?

2) If I understand correctly, what ever gear I am wearing at the time of save is imported to the expansion, yes?

3) Do I get to keep my inventory slots; for me 120? and does this include the items within these slot...hehe?

4) Can I replay the expansion with the same imported character after I beat it like in mass effect? And will I then be able to keep my money etc?

I don't know, the whole idea of the expansion being available as a stand alone disc is what really puzzles me. I can't recall any expansions on a console before with imported characters, odd.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

...I'd rather have Dog than Oghren. Yes I'm serious. Oghren is an annoying dwarven stereotype that made me rage. At least with dog I can lol while he uses overwhelm on any poor mages that attack my party XD

I'm hoping for a armor and gold reset myself (since most of what I use is made with the toolset, I'll probably just start naked hehe).

I'm also hoping that they adress the inventory issue, as nobody seems to like having that little space. Since we're rebuilding the wardens, there is a chance we get our own fortress, complete with storage.

leliana being kidnapped by the darkspawn as a twist until the sequel would cause a riot but would certainly be a good story. The horror...the horror...

It damn well better be Morrigan. Her character was fantastic, great voice acting, great personality, great background story(can't see how some of you people hated her). Screw Leilanna with her accent. Hated the voice acting on her, besides for her song, which wasn't even done by her voice actor.  This is supposed to be a DARK  fantasty, just because Leilanna brings the feel good romance, and you didn't get your way with Morrigan doesn't make Leilanna a better character.

See I can't see how you like Morrigan who to me had great VO but was shallower than the kiddy pool and Leliana who had great VO a great personality and a great background story.

How can you hate Lei? She rocks!

I don't see Morrigan coming back here unless she has a huge change of heart or you were one hell of a lover.

I edited my original post for further clarity :).  Leilanna was an ok character, but I  don't think she compares to Morrigan as far as the whole script/voice acting/story goes.  It's like an actor in a movie, you don't appreciate their role based on whether they played the good guy or not.

A lot of times on expansions, you are pretty much stripped down to the basic's, thats usually to prevent hording in a previous version and "stocking up" Every developer has their own thoughts on this, but to me thats been the norm. It's sort of like a "reset" except for your stats, and maybe what you have as armor & weapons.

Meh Lei felt more human to me while Morri gave me that pathetic manipulated to the end by the big bad because they never learned to think for themselves archtype.

Then again you won't believe how many Morri's you run into reading manga  After a while it gets annoying<_<

1. Said puppet ends up being killed by the puppeter

2. Said pupeet ends up thinking they cut the puppetter's strings only for it to blow up in their face and.
     A. The hero has to save their behind at which time they go to 3 or join the hero (may or may not do a 180 in terms of personality if not will be a lot nicer to the hero if no one else)
     B. They end up being killed by the puppeter

3. Cut puppeter strings but have no clue what to do with themselves and try to become a puppet master themselves because its all they know then
    A. Ends up trying to control the wrong person and end up dead/in trouble
     B. Ends up becoming more powerhungry than normal until they either turn into the big bad or have everything blow up in their face.  (leading to 2)
     C. If they turn into the big bad they get their behind handed to them by the hero (may or may not be the one who would have helped them in 2) end up being redeemed by the hero and try to work with him/her, be an ungrateful *** and walk away and end up repeating 3 over, or end up dead.

There's variations of those but mostly its the same thing. >_>

Morri strikes me as 3C, I'm not sure as if she's more likely to be ungrateful or try to redeem herself though. :wizard:

Yeah that will be awesome but then what's the explanation for the returning character I wonder?

I'm uneasy with there being only one returning NPC. Mainly because if it's not the NPC my character developed a relationship with, it would be really annoying. I'm hoping that you're not forced into a break-up if you continue your character from DA:O. Just having some exposition explaining that they're waiting for you or doing some other task while you deal with this issue would be fine for me.
