by now, regardless of what people claim what or whom they have seen, a BioWare secret.
There are theories and speculations running about who it will be or who it can't be, but by now, we do know nothing except that one unspecified former party member will return

I remember Melo said in comment that it was indeed a former party member and no NPC, but sadly, i didn't copy his comment back then, so i can't prove my memory here, though i'm certain i remember correctly.
So you either just have to believe my words in this or do not trust me.
Whatever you decide is fine with me and will nevertheless lead to the same end which is we'll just have to wait and see when and whom BioWare will announce to return for AwakeningB)

that's a good question actually. Given that they are a huge and important part of the game, i would say yes. But then, we do not now if your romance option will appear in Awakening and if he/she does, if that option would play an important or at least sufficient part in Awakening.

People don't like to admit it, holding out for hope that it's THEIR favorite character, but right now it looks like Oghren. Technically, yes it's speculation... but Oghren is seen as a grouped party member in the trailer... mulitple times in multiple locations no less.

He may only group up with you for a short time, but lets face it, all signs point strongly to Oggy as of now.

This will be freaking AMAZING!!!!  I apologize if this was already discussed, but will there be new weapon and armor designs? I'd love to see some of the items from NWN2 (such as circlets and cloaks) appear in the expansion.  But obviously, I haven't a CLUE as to how difficult that would be to achieve.

Bioware is doing way too much for their fanbase that it's insane. Three DLC packs and a EP? Didn't this game just come out in november? I could of sworn it did! I am really anticipating this. Looks good from all angles and we learn a lot more about certain cultures.

Seeing how much Bioware values their fans with so much content they are releasing it's safe to say they won't disappoint. I'm sure they know we all love the romances in the game, and a large portion of the fanbase all want to see Morrigan.



If you look at it, putting aside what you want, you can narrow down who has possibility of returning. Morrigan goes west, Sten goes back home. Those two are null unfortunately .



High chance of returning? Leliana, Oghren, Allistair since their endings don't result in them leaving. Although if you romance Leliana you can choose to travel the world with her.



I honestly hope they make Awakening kind of like Origins beginning. Multiple beginnings based on how you ended origins, and all these beginnings lead to how you find out and embark on the main storyline. For example.. You and leliana could be travelling, and for a awhile till you find some sign of darkspawn etc and that leads you to finding out the severity of the situation and eventually takes you on the main storyline. I chose Leliana for like all my playthoughs and Morrigan on only one and was thinking.. If you chose Leliana and chose to wander the world, how good of a beginning to Awakening than to have her captured? That would give huge motive to end it even more and of course DRAMAAAA. Because we all love drama



All in all, we can only hope to see Morrigan return but as the saying goes, Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. =)

I think we can safely say Alistair will NOT be a possible party member. There are simply too many variations of things that could have happened to him. He will be in the story (assuming certain criteria are met), but will not be in the group. Leliana seems only slightly possible as she was a romance, therefore it would be unfair to bring her back when the other romances cannot also return. I agree that all signs point to Oghren, as he has been seen in the videos and had probably the least certain ending.

I do have faith, however, that the cameos by other former party members will reflect decisions from the main campaign, and I agree with you that Bioware understands how large of a part the romances played in the game, so I'm trying not to worry too much. They'll do the best they can to incorporate as many things as possible within time and budget constraints.

I think he offers to go with you.

hope you're right... can't imagine DA without this so loved character
for so much people like me! I wish all these opinions are heard... It
would be such a hit not having my fav companion (and partner of my

Eh, don't know that for sure. He could easily be an NPC that is just traveling with your group, you can take screenshots in Origins that would make it appear that NPC's are in your party.

Does the awakening enhancments work in Origins aswell?

So for example, if Awakening adds a new skill tree for rogues or something, can I start a completely new playthrough of Origins, but select and use these new Awakening skills/spells and talents for use there? Or am I only able to choose them once I actually import to the Awakening?

Also is there any chance of a developer saying anything about the romances/relationships. I really liked them and npc interaction in general. I realise that we apparently won't get the romance options back as party members, but does that have to mean that the relationship is over?

I mean I would be satisfied if in a Leliana romance playthrough where Alistair is king, Leliana is using her bardic knowledge to support him and thats why she is unable to join you without endangering the kingdom. I could accept that. However I would still really like if you could visit her in the palace or whatever and have romantic scenes and dialog about the future. Likewise with Alistair, if you had a romance and as been said, became a queen, I would want any dialog with him to take that into account with Alistair calling you his queen or belowed or something and generally acting all romantic.

And I would like to be able to meet and talk and ask for advice from the other members of my party too. I mean we fought together and won. That should create an emotional bond, and in many ways did both for the player and the player character. I want that to be acknowledge. I want my old friends and loved ones to be there to talk to and ask for advice and share news and all that, even if they have taken new responsibilities in the new goverment that prevent them from joining the fight.

Can any developer shed any light on any of this? Is there any continuation for our beloved Origins characters? Or have most of them just been thrown to the trash bin and forgotten? I loved the npc interactions and I would really be a sad puppy if awakenings does not take them into account.

Oh, and just an idle question that I seriously doubt anyone will/can answer but what the heck. Is there a chance of learning more about the darkspawn taint and how to use it? I mean we have those two skills from the potion of avernus, but there are 2 empty slots left? Any chance those might yet be filled with some nasty darkspawn magic stuff?

This is a great and insanely logical idea. Although, your choices didn't just affect the ending, they affected the game.
