I agree. I love DOA( dead or alive series) but I would not buy a $40 expansion for mini games, costumes, & story. A fighting game has great replay value in achievements & multiplayer but very little content or story. You can finish most fighting gams in 2-6 hours story wise if not much less.
$7 for new armor, characters, codex entries, story, weapons, talents, & more. Now that is worth $7 that seems to be more content than the entire SF was it? expansion. lol. just saying I agree that it is not a fair comparison. I think Awakening is well worth the money personally but that is just me (from what i know).

I don't know if it's such a good idea to compare Beat'em ups with Rpgs but it's interesting that you consider the SF4 expansion a full game. I wouldn't spend 30 bucks for a fighting game with only 8 characters, a bunch of stupid minigames and some costumes. iirc Capcom released alternate costumes splitted into 5 packs each for 4 $ as dlc a few moth ago. Thats a way too much if you ask me. And people complain about Wardenskeep DLC ...

Then don't buy it. We don't care anyway. You can't get them to chance the prise. I don't think so.
I'm going to buy it because DAO is an awesome game and is 40$ worth it and we don't have any idea about how long the game is going to be but i'm pretty sure it's going to be a long game and you'll see yourself if you start to think Posted Image

I'm not sure what you meant by your little angry, misspelled response but I was talking about the comparison of a $40 fighting game to DA:O's expansion is not a fair one. Actually we do have some basic idea about the length since Bioware confirmed we'll be hitting mid-high 30's for our level by the time we complete Awakening so in comparison to the time frame-levels in DA:O it gives you a decent idea of what to expect but that will also heavily depend on how much story there is if Awakening will be longer or shorter than we expect. (I expect about 20 hours or a little over)
My overall point is that you missed my entire point I think if i read your response correctly. Awakening's price was never in the discussion only SF IV's expansion price. So if that is what you were talking about you were wrong twice & I think you should considering reading the entire post before typing some sloppy off topic response.

If you played Human Noble..or read a Codex or two, you'd have also heard about it.

Not sure if anyone posted something like this, but I was thinking yesterday and a certain thought invaded my mind. Since there are 6 origins and you choose one, wouldn't it be possible for the 5 new characters in Awakening to be from the remaining 5 origins?

What do you think about this?

Again, sorry if posted before.

Quite an interesting idea but difficult to make: that means your companions would differ depending on your own Origin. That is, BioWare would have to make six companions, produce dialogue, personal story and plot involvement and you'll only get to see 5 of them. That would also mean that no party member could have a bigger involvement in the plot cause it would be possible that the one who is important is not in the party cause he's of the same Origin as you.
But still, a pretty interesting idea

Quick question, if i carry over my Hero (i did the dark ritual) to the expansion, will all the stuff I did like make Alistar king, killed Loghain, etc etc carry over too or does it just switch to a pre-set story that Bioware made up?

I think it indeed carry's over. In the ign awakening article it had been said that your choices make a big impact on the expac.

Leliana will be the returning NPC. Both male and female Wardens can romance her and in the epilogue, if you say that you'll be returning to the Grey Wardens you get a blurb at the end which states that you and Leliana embarked on a quest to uncover the darkspawn's remaining secrets.

Plus, in the IGN Q & A concerning the xpack, after talking about the returning NPC the interviewer asked Fernando if a Grey Warden from Orlais won't have an instant connection to Leliana. Fernando did some adroit damage control and talked about cameos and how they're keeping things under warps for now but I'd bet a casket of dwarven lichen-ale that Leliana will be available as a companion in the xpack.

I'm not so sure every one seems to think oghren is because of his appearance in the trailer for awakening, but it could just be his cameo.

I'm so freakin happy the X-pac is $30 bucks on PC. now THAT makes sense and is worth the price. Odd how $10 can makes such a diffrence. I wonder, sense they couldn't fit all of Super street fighter IV's new content in a DLC, then how could they make Awakaening fit a DLC. They prob couldn't, forcing awakaening to be a stand-alone expansion and thus justying the $40 price.

*SPOILERS*

I'd bet it isn't Leliana. Could just be Oghren's cameo, but it must be a long cameo because he appears a number of times in diffrent locations.

I'm pretty sure the returning character won't be a previously romancible character or a character who could have been killed. Leliana is both. Oghren is neither, meaning he would be quite easy to implant.

With Leliana it's

Did you kill her?
Did you romance her?
Are you male?
Are you female?
Did you break it off with her?
Did you cheat on her?
Does she even like you?

With oghren it's
Did he like you?

Just look at the characters returning from Mass Effect in Mass Effect 2, same pattern.

They will NOT implant a character who could have been easily killed. I'm betting Oghren or Dog.

It's one of the more discussed (both community and source) question out there.

Anyway, you play as an Orlesian Grey Warden.

Handheld himself would prefer not to make a new character but if handheld must then he shall.

Handheld himself hopes that he never has to see Beatrice the froggy darkspawn as those are terrible memories.....

It's important to know that after making that comment about carryovers, David Gaider- to my knowledge- retracted his statement saying that it may have been outdated or the like. Whatever that meant is up in the air, so a lot of what is going around is just (if accurate) speculation.

to answer drunk deadman in the orzamar quest if you supported harrowmonte and killed jarvia you might have come across the dwarf from the commoner quest "leske" will there the dwarf that could have been you died...this brings me to believe that the other characters that could have existed maybe met similiar fates.

I think all of the Origin characters *Existed* in a sense, for example it's obvious that the dwarf noble existed as Bhelen is the last Aeuducan no matter what. One would simply assume that the Noble died in the deep roads. All of the origins have something relevant to them later in the game (City elf cousin for example) and it's usually assumed that they warden in question is dead...

So for sequal games I'm guessing Bioware will just choose a Cannon outcome.

Right I think its time for the truth on who you meet up with again:

Who it is not:

Sten - you have the opportunity to kill him by not rescuing him or when you anger him into a fight for leadership at the Urn of Sacred Ashes.

Alastair - far too many ways to kill Alastair but highly probably his archetype is brought back if you made him king.

Zevran - has the opportunity to turn on you and be killed.

Shale - only available in DLC so unlikely to suddenly give out for free.

Possible:

Leliana - You can't provoke her to the point of violence - you can only ask her to leave or not opt to have her in the party.

Morrigan - Have yet to find a way when you can anger her enough to actually result in a fight - worst I could do was make her leave verbally.

Dog - Not sure if he counts.................but ya epic dog

Oghren - possible as he can't be killed off only told to leave to my knowledge.

Morrigan is my best hope of who comes back as I felt betrayed when she walked away with my son who hordes the spirit of a decrepit fallen god.

Most likely is Leliana as you can opt to start came in Orlais
