I remember somebody (Gaider ?) saying it wouldn't be practical to record voice for characters that only some of the players might here. That knocks out love interests (Alistair will likely just be an NPC).

My big curiosity is whether or not
we'll be able to use those in Origins? For instance, let's say there's
now a Necromancer specialization for Mages; if we start a new character
with Origins, will it be at all possible to have him/her access that
specialization rather than the base four? Just curious.
No. The expansion is a separate entity from the original campaign. The devs have confirmed that content from the expansion will not apply to the original game.

im wondering if you have a save for "character" but you have different endings for that one character. Example you have a ending that was alistar left and loghain stayed n then a save where alistar stayed and was king and so on. Will you be able to chose which save you can use? I havent read much detail on that.
From what they've said, you can load up any save game for that character. So if you've played through different endings, you can start the expansion based on whichever one you choose. I could be wrong about that, but according to what they've revealed this is what seems most likely.
And to the people hoping for a variable companion from the original campaign (i.e. changing based on origin or story elements), it will not happen. There is ONE character returning, and that one character will be the same for everyone. Considering that the other characters are said to have cameos, I'm sure the devs are taking into consideration romances, etc for those people who pursued them.

I do believe, never the less, the expansion is going to be quite interesting. If they add new romances then the possibility of your old romance to come back is slim if nothing. How would you explain to your previous lover about your new love interest?.
Why? For ME 2, it's aleady confirmed that you can either start a new romance with a new party member or continue your old romance from ME 1 with that former party member, as they will have cameos and you will be able to keep that romance going if you wish. You can also quit with the old ones and get together with a new one. I don't see any reason why that should not be possible for Awakening?
And for the dialogue: DAO already has something similar, when you're forced to choose between your lovers if you pursue two romances at once, you have to break up with one of them. That sounds pretty similar to telling your old lover that you found a new one and are going to dump him/her now.

Ever hear of the expression when the cats away the mice will play, what they don't know won't hurt them? There was already the option to "break up" with your love interest in the original game, no reason to assume you can't do the same in Awakening if you feel you've worn all the tread off the tire and it's time to move on.

Btw Im sure this has been asked and answered already but Im not searchiung through 95 pages to find it. Does anyone know if the respec will be EVERYTHING? Attributes, Specializations, Skills, and Talents?
I hope so cuz I have a warrior tank that I have put LOTS of hours into...making him a very noble guy forming great relationships with my party, and completing almost every quest in the game...but I want to change his build a little. I want Templar now insead of reaver...I barely use frightening appearance.

you realize that same Q can apply to you. lol. It's not about that, I don't like lazy people. If it was an in depth Q about in game items or events that is completely understandable but why should I give away an answer free just b/c he can't read the first page or do a google. Search, I answered his Q by giving him the resources to find his answer. If he/she (idk.lol) is too lazy to read that is there fault. Not saying they are but what business is it of yours? Why do you care? You another person who likes answer handed to them so they don't have to read?
I informed them of a way to find Bioware only responses & gave them the resources to find the answer they seeked you commented pointlessly on something I did, so who is wasting time here.

Five new characters, that's what I'm really excited about. If they're anything as good as the characters in the first one anyway.
I agree! I hope I can find someone as cool as Shale or Wynne again!!!!!!

As for the remaining party member...
welll *MAJOR SPOILERS* It can't be Wynne, Shale, Sten, Morrigan, Alistair or Zeveran. That leaves Ohgren, dog and Lilianna, and can't they all leave the party?
Really looking forward to the new party though.
Hopefully bioware can continue to deliver solid expansions untill DAO 2 hits.

guessing from the possibilities of DAO is difficult. I don't know along what lines you gathered your list, but fact is, all but one party member have at least one chance to die. Some are probably only encountered by very few players, others are more likely, and all of them can leave your party and you behind.
So guessing depending on outcomes of DAO is pretty futile, as we don't know what more story there is we have not yet been told which might decide who that returning member is and we cannot guess cause we don't know that story yet.
Hopefully, when ME 2 is launched and the hype (i'm pretty hyped about that game myself

I have a question, if you completed Soldier's Peak, what? Do the Grey Wardens have two fortresses/castles, Amaranthine and Soldier's Peak?
That's what I was wondering. And if we keep Avernus alive does he find some way to make us more powerful from his experiments and continuing work?
