How'd you get to level 7 in 3 hours? You can't hit 7 until Lothering and unless you constantly skip dialogue and rush through the main track only there is no way in you did 7 in 3 hours.

Totally agree with you here.

But that's besides the point. Use your head a second. Do you really think going from level 25-35/39 is going to be the same as going from 1-13? Wouldn't it be more accurate to assume that the pace would be closer to what you were seeing towards the end of the game? Meaning 2-4 hours per level depending on where you were and your play style.

I don't think the pace will be the same as it is towards the end of the game. I think Awakening will be rebalanced from the ground up. If it was going to take longer and longer to level-up, then going up 12 levels could take about 70 hours. I really don't see Bioware creating as big a game, then charging less for it.

My guess is that you average the following Experience points per hour of play.

100 hours to reach Level 19 = 1235 EXP per hour.
90 hours = 1372
80 hours = 1543
70 hours = 1764
60 hours = 2058
50 hours = 2470
40 hours = 3087
30 hours = 4116

The problem with the above approach is that the more of the game you open up, the more exploration and less combat there is per hour of playing. So the game will be slightly more skewed to a faster EXP rate until after Lothering (when the map really opens up).

So while the average play through might be 60-65 hours (approx. 2000 EXP per hour lets say), I'd estimate the first 7 levels are at about 150% that rate, while the last 7 levels are about 66% that rate.

Level 7 gained at about 7 1/2 hours = 11.5%
Level 13 gained at about 32 hours = 38.5% (50% total)
Level 19 gained at about 65 hours = 50% (100% total)

If we assume a 32.5 hour playthrough for Awakening over 12 ascended levels beginning at Level 20 then we are looking at...

Level 24 gained at about 3 hours 45 minutes
Level 28 gained at about 16 hours 15 minutes
Level 32 gained at about 32 hours 30 minutes

i think it wuld be really awesome if the player got to CHOOSE the returning hero :D
P.S - what happens if u:
a) made all characters whom you could leave your party
B) killed the others of in storyline

this would leave you alone , meaning no party member can come back o.0.

Hi all, quick question. I replayed the ending of my favorite character a couple of times to get it 'right'. The last time I played through is the the one I want to carry over to the expansion. Will my XBox 360 use the last full play through when I select my character for 'Awakening'? I think it would but I wanted to see if anyone knew for sure. Thanks!

@Upper_Krust: Never said it was going to follow the exact same pace, I said it would be closer to the length of what it took to get your last 13 levels then your first 13. It's impossible to get any real good estimate and you brought a few reasons why. The pacing is unknown, the system is unknown, the game style is unknown. I took quite a few liberties and assumed it would be similar, (Not that much is going to change for an expansion), though paced a bit quicker. A Bioware game is a Bioware game, it's going to be dialog and side quest heavy. Looking at it I think 30 hours for a casual playthrough is a fair estimate, it may be a bit longer but I have a hard time seeing it any shorter.

You can import whatever save you want, it doesn't automatically load anything up you pick what gets used.

Oh what a horrible thought. I'd react the same way if the game (or any other game) came in Swedish only. I was unfortunate to play another game on a PS3 with Swedish as default language, which caused all information except spoken conversation to appear in Swedish. Drove me nuts!

i was curious as to what race/class the new party members will be in awakening?

and was curious if dragon age would ever get a lizard race like the iksar in everquest as a party member. preferably they would be good to neutral as in most rpg's lizard races are almsot always evil.

Heya, I'm totally looking forward to the expansion, but I'm a little worried too.

On gamestop.com it says "NOTICE: Requires Dragon Age Origins, internet connection, and hard drive to play. "

I don't actually have in internet connection (I have to borrow my mums computer for the internet, but her system is so old it won't run games like NWN let alone Dragon Age) so my question is this;

Does anyone know if this requirement for an internet connection is mandatory for playing/running the game? or is it the same as Dragon Age Origins, and you merely need the internet connection if you want to connect to your player profile? in other words optional?

I'm hoping someone on here may know or have found some information that I haven't on the matter :)

Thanks guys

If they dont intend to do a multiplayer section, it probably about new DLC and Profile updates. Other then that I dont think the game will need Internet connection.

Pretty much agree with what you said. Trying to make an educated guess is something of a fool's errand - but too much fun to pass up the opportunity. Posted Image

I do still say about half the content of Dragon Age Origin is about as good a guess as you can get given the current (scant) evidence. Personally I think thats a good target to aim for from Bioware. I mean, when you think about it, in 30-35 hours I could probably complete Bayonetta, Darksiders and Dante's Inferno (all games I hope to get very soon - yes I know two are already out), so thats not bad value for money from Bioware.

I am really looking forward to the expansion and I am sure it's going to be great, if BioWare permutes some of the great suggestions for game improvements the community made.

But I wonder one thing and wanted to ask if there's already any informotion on the subject "import old character from Origins to Awakening"? To be more precisely, what will happen to the items the community created with the toolset or with the winter forge plugin. What do you think? Will they just disappear once the character has been imported to the expansion or will they remain due to having the plugins installed in the maingame respectively having them put/altered via the override folder? I would want to know that before and I hope they remain since there's a lot of effort involved. Moreover people who would want to import their char would have to keep vanilla / official dlc items in order to don't stand there naked when the new terrain is entered..

How will the behavior of dlc and override probably be in the expansion?

Ps.: Kinda off topic: I really think BioWare's doing a great job. There are some bugs and matters of delay, but in the end the result is a great game with great characters and an amazing amout of depth. The discussion if Dragon Age and the addins / epxansion is worth the money feels weird for me. Games like that are rare. I can play DA:O over and over again.. After the second time MW:2 (game time ~8 hours), for example, I could not have played it again directy. We get alot from BioWare for our money. Just my two cents /off topic.

Just my two cents... I really hope not! :P

I'm so glad that there are no strange beasts playable/recruitable, and I'm sure I couldn't bear a lizardman trotting around behind my character. I like that this setting is more realistic and more grimy than the average high fantasy with races of every kind!

But hey, it's always a matter of tastes.

ok so i have finished DA with three different endings (haven't taken logain yet) and so far the only companion that asks to follow me is Zevran everyone els seams to want to go on their own way or in the case of Wynne and Shale go off together. So my guess for the companion that will be in xpac is Zev... though i can see the other popping up to carry on some of the story.

What does it mean that the expansion pack will require DA: Origins to play? is there a disc swap or something like that?

means its not a stand alone game. you cant buy it and play it without having bought and installed origins. my 1st guess would be that most of the behind the scenes stuff that identifies the game and from origins.

If you have a console it will work just like DLC and save on your HD, i imagine on the PC it will just be installed like regulars expansions.

I just hope that the new add-on fits seamlessly or near seamlessly into the original story, so I can play the whole thing all over again.....and again.......and again.....and...

When is the film due for release? :)

Another thing I missed during the game was a few comments/gestures of affection from my (dwarven girl's) love (Leliana). Like for instance selecting the Archdemon party. She treated my dwarven girl as a very close friend despite the 100% affection (no romance :() when they departed for different duties. You'd think there would be a little more than just a dry chat right before your loved one is going to risk her (or his) life. Yes, I am a sucker for these things.
...so maybe there's room for improvement in this department in the expansion as well?

Are you sure ?? I also romanced Leliana with female character and I had a STRONG love declaration by her when I took the Archdemon's party... But I am not able to say you if this was becuase I took her with me into the final battle (because I thought it was right that she was near me in final battle) or because Italian translators changed this dialogue in a warmer dialogue than the original... In the Italian version she saw me something like... "You are my best friend and my great love.. and I will stay with you 'till the end.. whatever  is going to happen...Let's go to create our legend !"

Very very sad to know that Leliana will not probably be near my character in awakening... I can't believe such an epic romance like this could endPosted Image

Leliana says the same thing in the English translation, in the end we stroll off together into the sunset in search of further adventures, so she has to be in the awakening. :)

I mean, they can drop the dirty Dwarf and the old busy body but its going to be a bit rubbish with out the other party members.

Yeah... I had this final too.. most romantic epilogue possible... so right !! :)

so she has to be in the awakening.

I really hope this, but for many reasons I fear that will happen the opposite thing Posted Image

i got a question about the expansion, the original and mass effect 2 if anyone can ansew

firstly anyone now if there is exclusive items for pre ordering the expansion?

second question is that, you know when you bought DAO and got code for dragon armour in mass effect 2, so will mass effect have a code for DAO for any new armour?
