The only relevant point in this discussion is highlighted. Phantoms get a million percent damage reduction on host, unless you use a stagger weapon they're sturdier than atlases.
But whatever, everybody tell OP to l2p, that's a lot less intellectually demanding.
Yeah, but they've always been that way. Phantoms are strange enemies because some weapons/powers completely trivialize them while not using said weapons/powers can make things a bit of an uphill battle (especially if there is more than one around)
If you're worried about your class' power set/heavy melees not being able to handle Phantoms, then why wouldn't you bring a weapon well suited for dealing with them? Does anyone, besides the OP, really believe that the Acolyte is the ONLY option for certain classes?
It certainly wouldn't be my first choice as I mentioned in this thread, but everyone saying "just learn to be a badass like me and shoot them in the head," has either never hosted, or is trolling.
i host all the time, the other day i played off host and i was like "omg phantoms can die from regular guns too?!!?"
usually when i host i always have to consider "how will i deal with a phantom on this character?" before i ever start playing because i do U/U all the time.
sure i can kill a phantom with any gun in the game... but i dont want to have to fight that one enemy for 2 mins strait... and if a teammate even attacks it that really screws up my plans, especially if that teammate has no idea what they are doing.
so ya i agree the "on host" thing is a good start to fixing phantoms, maybe all thats needed too.
also there are some other things that still need fixing, like the shockwave radius bug for just 1 example.
i support having to defeat my enemy with tactics, but we need fixes to obvious bugs too.
