*Laughs at self for liking things to be pretty all the time*
(I always give it to Morrigan, though, and since I don't use her unless I need her it's a bit sad because I don't get to see much of it in the game. xD)

Haha, same here. It's frost runes only for my weapons, even when others would deal better damage. I also refuse to wear silly looking helmets and non-elegant suits of armor for similar reasons...

The only time I let any of my party sport a helmet is in the final battle. I get Wade to make me pretty Dragonbone plate armor, and I pick up Corruption from the Hurlock General at the Market on my way to Fort Drakon. (75% spirit resistance when you need it the most!)
And I'm vain enough that as I'm diminishing the last of the archdemon's health before it goes to the dialogue/cutscene, I change my fem-PC into "pretty armor" for the epilogue. (I'm okay with heavy plate on my male-PC, though.) xD

You know... That would make so much MORE sense to me, that if you're particularly ampped in cold damage it protects you from fire-damage (and the reverse).Sylvius the Mad wrote...
When I read the description I hoped it meant I got Fire Resistance, but apparently not.

Have to remember that tactic for when I get there! (Haven't been able to finish the game yet, probably because I spend waaaaaay too much time with the details, like taking a moment to pose for a screenshot because the light is so nice, sometimes right in the middle of a battle, and of course switching between 3 different characters whom I all love equally...)

Love ya Auridesion.
I'd even go as far as designing my weapons so I get that VFX. Currently (re)playing / rewinding my DW STR / DEX Bard / Ranger-Rogue (yep, that's right a longsword in each hand) and making sure the cold dmg runes are the most powerful on each weapon just to get those funky snowflakes. I combine it with Song of Courage (I believe that's the one that makes purple dust radiate from you) for extra fun. Lord almighty I'm such a freak
I'm by the way no fan of the fire FX from the fire runes (or weapons that have already fire dmg build into them).
In the cutscenes your face seem to flare up like a light bulb in a most horrific way (it annoyed me to no end)
When I went with Alistair to visit his sister, his fire dmg axe shone in my face and the people around him...Yuck...Double-Yuck ! I always make sure I swap out weapons when I know some cool cutscene is about to start. The electricity effect is nice as well, but nowhere as good as the radiates cold effect.

I've only finished the game once so far. But I currently have 8 other characters at various points along the way. What, play with one at a time? You're joking me, right? What kinda freakazoid does that?

I was just grooming my screenshots earlier, and I came across one of the autoshots from the Tower of Ishal where Aedyn (my fem-Cousland) and Alistair are talking about how there wasn't supposed to be any resistence there. The Circle Mage had Flaming Weapons on, so it made Alistair just look effing-creepy during the whole thing, which is really too bad because it's got my favorite camera angle for a fem-PC that's going to romance him (you see close-ups of both their faces in the same shot). I made a note about how much I hate flaming VFX. xD
I agree on the lightnight FX. I usually give lightning runes to Alistair's weapons -- since electricity damage drains stamina/mana as well as does damage. (It seems rather fitting for a templar, no?)
As silly as this sounds, one of the reasons I like the frost VFX is because it makes dragonbone weapons look more silvery than that awful dried-blood-brown. (Goes better with the blueish hue of my "pretty armor" -- which is whichever of the special/enhanced/unique light armors that's based on the "Studded Leather" model, and is most appropriate for my PC.)

Thank you
Unless that actually was a euphemism for "you are crazy", in which case the proper response would be: "indeed, but it seems I'm not the only one"

LMAO. I won't use flame runes on
weapons, totally ugly effect, frost only. And of course you have to
look nice. I have the mod that lets you wear helmets for the protection
& bonuses, but takes them off when you're out of combat. The
2-handed sustainable - Indomitable - gives a nice effect. Hate threaten
though.
Agreed on the flame effect. Actually there are quite a few effects that I find rather annyoing during cutscenes. Thankfully there's a mod out there aptly called "personal annoyance remover" which removes the constant glow effects from most spells & talents.
I recently downloaded the helmet mod you mentioned but have yet to try it out. Does it work as advertised or did you experience any problems?

once again, it's nice to hear I'm not the only one

It does work as advertised and there are no real problems. Occasionally, not often, the helmet looks as if it's stuck 'on' or 'off'. Similar to the problem where 2 equipment sets show at the same time - and with the same cure - quick save & quick load.
On one or two occasions only (and I've had many long hours of game play) characters have got their hats 'mixed up'. You just have to move them manually in the equip screen if it happens. The helms do take up inventory space (I wish it was like Mass Effect, and you could elect just to not show the helm, even though it's equipped all the time).
Very well worth it, imo.

That's a pretty nice mod (since most helmets are indeed butt-ugly, with maybe the exception of the grey warden helmets). Still, why would you hide your face right ?
I bet lots of people spend hours and hours making the perfect character only to hide it under a helmet. I still do it the old fashion way unfortunately (the tedious inventory open, pull of / put on helmet kinda thing).
Some of them are plain buckets with holes in them ! And that's indeed another good point Auridesion, I currently use a dragonbone longsword and Starfang.
The dragonbone sword definitely looks much better. Aye, silver-coloured weapons do match better with blue.
And sure you can call me Nuke.
I admit, Nuclear_Pony is kind of a long name

Thanks. Sounds good. No unfixable problems then.
I didn't run into the 2 equipment sets at once bug but I had several occasions where the equipment on my main character got "glued on", i.e. it still showed up when I unequipped it and also when I equipped other item instead. The inventory screen would show the character correctly but in game he/she would always appear wearing the same things. Saving and reloading fixed that too, thankfully.
Agreed on the hide helmet issue. although at least in dragon age the helmets get removed during (most) cutscenes (some seem scripted not to remove the helm and sometimes the game is buggy and doesn't remove them although it should). I still remember the awkwardness of KOTOR I cutscenes where characters confessed their affection to each other with weird looking face masks and space googles on... ^^

"Auridesion" isn't exactly short either. I give you my expressed consent in advance to shorten it however you like. xD
