I'm sure you read all over the internet in minor detail about the new expansion. However this link I found with the most information. It says you can create a brand new charactior or use the one saved to play through. This link is in "english" and says Bioware Announced themselfs. Take it for what it's worth

Watch the youtube of the new expansion here:

Read the report here: http://finance.yahoo...2.html?x=0&.v=1

EDMONTON, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leading video game developer BioWare™, a division of Electronic Arts
Inc. (NASDAQ:
ERTS - News), announced today Dragon Age™: Origins
Awakening, the first official expansion pack to Dragon
Age: Origins,
the recent recipient of Spike TV’s Best RPG and PC
Game of 2009, IGN’s Best RPG of 2009 and CNN.com’s Best RPG of 2009. Dragon
Age: Origins
Awakening will be available for the Xbox 360®
videogame and entertainment system, the PlayStation®3 computer
entertainment system and PC on March 16, 2010.

Designed and written by the same team that brought you Dragon Age:
Origins,
the Awakening expansion pack offers a brand new area
of the world to explore known as Amaranthine, featuring an epic story
that will allow players to unravel the secrets of the darkspawn - and
their true motivations! Players will face a range of horrific and
terrifying creatures including an evolved, intelligent breed of
darkspawn and other menacing creatures such as the Inferno Golem and
Spectral Dragon. Dragon Age: Origins Awakening provides
exciting new ways for players to customize their heroes and party,
including the ability to re-spec their character attributes, allowing
even greater customization and replayability. Featuring an increased
level cap, new spells, abilities, specializations and items, plus five
all-new party members, players can continue their adventures from Dragon
Age: Origins,
or begin with a brand new character.
Dragon Age: Origins Awakening shows BioWare’s
commitment to our fans by delivering new story-driven experiences which
enrich the dark heroic fantasy universe our fans have come to know and
love,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Group General Manager of the RPG/MMO Group,
EA, and Co-Founder, BioWare. “The vibrant worldwide community of Dragon
Age
fans will relish uncovering the secret motivations of the
darkspawn, revealing how the darkspawn continue to infest the world
despite the defeat of the Archdemon.”
Dragon Age: Origins Awakening, BioWare’s next thread in
the Dragon Age: Origins tapestry, occurs following the
events of Dragon Age: Origins and puts players into the role of a
Grey Warden Commander entrusted with rebuilding the order of Grey
Wardens. In addition to rebuilding the ranks of the Grey Wardens, you
will be tasked with uncovering the mystery of how the darkspawn survive
after the slaying of the Archdemon. How players choose to rebuild their
order, resolve the conflict with the mysterious “Architect,” and
determine the fate of the darkspawn are just some of the many intriguing
moral choices that will shape each player’s heroic journey. Players will
be able to import their character from Dragon Age: Origins or
start out as a new Grey Warden from the neighboring land of Orlais.
Dragon Age: Origins Awakening will be released March 16,

2010 worldwide on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 console and PC. Dragon
Age: Origins
Awakening will be available for $39.99 on PC,
Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles in North America and will require Dragon
Age: Origins
to play. Dragon Age: Origins Awakening is
rated M by the ESRB and 18+ by PEGI.

Well, since the press release also is to be found on EA's pages, I guess it's true. Although the date seems a little close to the original release. I expect delays.

If you look closely there's a city called Amaranthine in the north-east, upon the ocean by the same name

Lovely news! I hope Mass Effect 2 doesn't take me a year to finish like the first one did. I play some things slow.

Gosh, you're right!
It is a city in Feralden... Say... Isn't that a wee bit too close to those northern Isles?
That's where the Quarni are located right??

Well at least we see Bioware have copped out and given us a Canon ending. Wr all now know that unless you choose to take control of the grey wardens and become the grey warden commander - YOU ARE PLAYING WRONG!!!

BioWare’s next thread in

the Dragon Age: Origins tapestry, occurs following the

events of Dragon Age: Origins and puts players into the role of a

Grey Warden Commander entrusted with rebuilding the order of Grey

Wardens. In addition to rebuilding the ranks of the Grey Wardens, you

after the slaying of the Archdemon.

I wonder what the rest of the canon ending is.

I suppose you could still be King/Queen, advisor, retired, married or travelling. And then choose to help deal with a problem in Amaranthine or help re-establish the Wardens in Ferelden.

Otherwise you continue doing what you were doing. And let an experienced Grey Warden from Orlais deal with it.

This sounds pretty darn awesome XD.

Hoping for some dragon cult info, or some insight into the need for the Old Gods by the Darkspawn, etc. Might help to sate my rabid urge to gather info on what Morrigan's up to with the child.

I was skeptical about a massive story-related DLC, but a proper retail expansion? Either BioWare are very, very short of sleep what with all the content they're churning out, or this went into dev before DA went gold. Either way, looks utterly brilliant. I'll be importing my old Warden, though, he's far too awesome to be replaced by some creepy Orlesian bard.

I am terrified that the romances will have to have drama in them, or disappear. Though, most endings you select you can end up rebuilding the GW with Zevran so hopefully that keeps on going. It also would tie in all the "for a time" epilogues.

Edit: My fear is, with the romances, is that while some are more satisfying than others, they all feel very complete.

No matter what, if you're alive, the PC is still the GW Commander of Ferelden, whether s/he's Chancellor, Paragon, or whatever.

Are you still general of the Ferelden armies too I wonder. If so, all your titles make even Howe's claims at the end look paltry!

hmmm... The only romance I found unfulfilling (and on purpose too, as the circumstances drip with conspiracy and possibly sequel stories), was Morrigan. But, all's said and done, we'll be happy it ended the way it did in DA1 if BW bring her back (with the child, and with you knowing more about her motives) as a main story point in DA2.

Ah, see, I do feel they were complete and I would not want a thing changed about any of them.  But unless you metagame, the romance with Alistair often ends up very unsatisfying.  So I'm concerned because how do you build on something that has been basically finished, but at the same time, I don't think I'd want to play if the romances I established had to end in drama either.

I suppose I should trust the writers on this.  They did a such a fabulous job in this that I actually AM concerned!

At Gamespot I also read that you start a new game you will start as a Gray Warden of Orlais. Oh Morrigan! Will we see what has been created now?

I will not want to play if I have to end the romances created in my save files. Especially the Zev romances I mean he did say he would storm the gates of the dark city with me and followed it up with a you got me and your stuck with me now. Still, I look forward to the expansion with the hope that Zev gets to come with me.

Hmmm (again), you may be right, but Morrigan's been engineered (to an extent) for the player to reach out to her, and become attached. I'm not saying I'd feel cheated for romance's sake if the Warden never sees her again, but that the circumstances of her leaving (the Old God inside the child), and that we know very little about her in terms of fact (she could simply be unsure about emotions like love, she may have been manipulating the Warden, she may have actually loved the Warden, she might have been working for Flemeth... the possibilities and combinations are endless with what we know of her right now) make me want to see her again, purely because her child could be immensely powerful, or a beacon to Darkspawn, or something completely different. I'm wondering if her time with the Warden will change how she brings the kid up, and whether she deviates from the original plan (as I'm sure there was a larger plan involved behind the Ritual).

And yes, obviously there is the personal element too, because BioWare have masterfully created an NPC which players can become really attached too emotionally. It's hard not to want to see her again after you start thinking you may have changed her.

But, just clarifying the point of this post, the fact that the soul of an Old God (God. It's not merely a powerful spirit, it's an elder GOD) is inside her child means that she's guaranteed to either pose a threat to the Grey Wardens, or perhaps an opportunity (he/she could be a darkspawn-killing machine). And we don't even know what the purpose of the kid is. For all we know, Morrigan might take its body like Flemeth was planning to do to her, and gain its power.

The situation is just far, far too interesting to leave alone now. True, I'd like to try and rebuild my Warden's relationship with Morrigan, but that's far from everything an encounter has to offer.

Regarding the whole Zev thing, my Warden is a guy, and I don't particularly want to be in a relationship with him as I'm afraid I'll freak out (which I will) and lose a really awesome friend. Question, can you turn down his advances, while still being good friends? Besides Morrigan, he was my second-fave party member in terms of personality (tied with Alistair, though. Don't flame me, please, he injects some much-needed humour into the game, and I really liked that).

It's an Arling. I don't know if there's an actual city called Amaranthine as the only city that is referenced in that area in the game is Harper's Ford. The Qunari are very far away from Ferelden, residing in Seheron, Par Vollen, and I believe parts of Rivain.

Should be interesting to roam around Arl Howe's old lands if this is true.
